Great review of a decent Powkiddy handheld! I already have plenty of awesome 2 to 5 inch handhelds. I also have the 7 inch Powkiddy X17. So, I'm not planning on purchasing anymore of these cheaper handhelds. No more playing around, I'm gonna go ahead and get myself a Steam Deck. That's the only one I'm missing and the last one I think I would need.
How do you like the X17?
@@rocknmetalultima The X17 is pretty amazing, very underrated and has exceeded my expectations! It's only less slightly powerful than the X18S. The X18S can emulate N64 much better than the X17. Both the X17 and X18S have no problem with running PSP. I still enjoy my X17 and at the moment, it's the closest thing I have to a Steam Deck and the most powerful 7 inch handheld I have. It's also Powkiddy's 2nd most powerful handheld. I also use my X17 to run retro games on a larger display, play video files, run Android apps and stream content. The X17 can do a lot and it's a handheld I plan to keep! I also like the LED lit buttons, the dynamic stereo speakers, stacked triggers and it's overall design.
@@jonathonearl482 good to know. Im always a sucker for bigger screens. My wants in a handheld are to run ps1, dreamcast, n64, and psp. And the bigger the screen the better. I want a steam deck my self but im thinking of getting an odin lite to start with. But have you seen the Aokzoe A1? So big!!!
@@rocknmetalultima Yes, I have seen the AOKZOE A1 as well as the Odin Lite. I still believe the Steam Deck is the way to go if you want the big display. I've currently seen many TH-cam reviews of gamers being overwhelmed with the performance and capabilities of their Steam Decks. I seen the Steam Deck literally run about everything. There is even an Emulec version for the Steam Deck! You can run Windows PC games on the Steam Deck. Also, Valve is getting more committed to producing a substantial amount of Steam Decks. Valve is making more Steam Decks because they didn't expect so many to order one. People are saying their shipment for their Steam Deck order has been bumped up. That means no more long wait times for the Steam Deck, it would be like ordering an Anbernic or Powkiddy device (you may get it in a week or a few weeks). Some have actually said they have gotten their Steam Deck in a week. I also held back on ordering a Steam Deck because I hate the extended wait times and delays of some of these gaming companies. The wait times thing is a problem I believe Valve has just gotten solved, that in itself has now convinced me it's time for me to order a Steam Deck.

If you a samsung or android phone 📱 with 8 gb of ram you can easily run psp games and you can order a controller from Amazon to play on your phone for cheaper and a smoother experience

If you want to put ArkOS on this do you need to put it onto the “game” SD card or the one with the QC sticker ? I assumed it would go on the QC SD card but I noticed ArkOS has dedicated folders for the roms so I was confused as to whether I should put my games on the game SD card instead? Sorry if this is a stupid question, loved the review

I was looking at buying one of these but I heard in other videos that some of the saga games didn’t play well, one game I love is splatter house saga game, have you played it on this system yet, does that game play pretty good, one of the top games I grew up playing, looking for input before I buy one, or any other small retro game system you recommend that has a lot of pre loaded games with that saga game also, thanks for your time.

Hello. Looking for help please. I just received my powkiddy and was able to play it for about 20 minutes. Now the screen is just black and nothing will work. The orange light is on indicating the power is on but nothing… I have charged it fully but nothing is working.

Better than miyoo but I would wait 2 weeks for the RG353V which has double the ram 2gb ddr4 and can play any emulator you want while still being pocketable

I played mother 3 on the miyoo mini. Even the $45 powkiddy v90 will play it perfectly.

Ooooo. This one has dual thumb-sticks. I can take this one seriously. This does look a bit under-powered, but we know it's a serviceable device if we don't see the hatchet.
Anbernic rg353v might be a better choice.

@@jordansutton5109 I have received it successfully and it plays perfectly. I am disappointed that it doesn't have some of my favourite games that I hoped for. The other thing is these old games are frustratingly hard and you need quick reflexes but the great advantage is most of the games have cheats in built. However not all cheats work the way you want them.

I used one of these, was testing and setting it up to gift to my friend. N64 doesnt run well. I tried Mischief Maker and it didnt register any inputs. Tried a Kirby game and the enemies were all invisible. I wouldnt hold out hope for n64. Ds and psp seemed to run quite well tho and dreamcast. Not perfect, visual or audio glitches but game play was fine.

This is one of the best all around systems that I've played,and I have several. If you need plug and play and like the old retro games, then this is my #1 recommendation. It is comfortable, not too heavy. It has a decent size screen that looks good. It has most of not all of the classics. The controls are well made and seem to be sturdy enough to last a long time. Just make sure you do the safe shutdown, clicking either the joysticks in ( L3 & R3) or select and start once or twice depending on the system your playing. If it's Ls and R3, then g scroll down to 'close content, then scroll to the bottom and select ' quit RetroArch '. Don't remove the sd card, not even to look at it,cause it may not work after that, unless you really know your way around computers.

Can anyone tell me which is the best handheld emulator for ps2 games?
Really a lot of these handhelds that are out there wont handle PS2 well.. i know its probably not what you are looking for but the Steam Deck does PS2 well and even a lot of PS3 from my testing... But the Steam Deck is a big ass handheld and people want something smaller and I just havent found any that I have tested that do as well as the Steam Deck. Im not saying there are not other options that are a smaller form factor.. I am just speaking on what I have tried and tested.

Finally a REAL review. Automatic sub. You just saved me from waisting my money. For a 200$ simulator I want everything to work. Everything from ps1 and up not working is a major turn off since those are the games that are the most worth our time.
As long as it can play gba and ps1 I’d be happy.

Just as you said at the beginning of this, it looks very uncomfortable to play, especially long term. I wouldn't buy this for that reason alone, as it ruins the whole experience. It desperately needs to be bigger. They hardly even had enough room for all the buttons, sticks and speaker. Also, any console these days should be able to run all 32/64 bit era games smoothly. Since this thing struggles to run N64, it's just another reason to look elsewhere. There are numerous options out there when it comes to running emulated games, and surely many of those other options are better then this. That screen does look amazing though, I will definitely give it that much.
Do you know of any other console that plays good and virtually every game even modern consoles? I want to buy the ultimate handheld device. One that can play anything and have virtually every game already in its memory you can think of from ps3 and before also N64 GameCube and even sega.

I think it is a great option if you only want to play up to PS1 and you take public transport and don’t want to risk getting punched in the face for your Nintendo switch or steam deck lol.

Spendy. About 120ish on Amazon. For that price get a retroid pocket 2+. I have a TON of these handhelds. They each have their place tho. Miyoo mini is my favorite. Literally got the anbernice 280v today, it's not as fragile. Depends on what you're looking for. Retro game corps or Taki upon, both on TH-cam, will tell u all about them. I'm about to install cfw based on retro game corps tutorials

Just got mine. It’s crap. Worked for an hour, charged it, now it doesn’t boot up. It turns on, logo pops up, and what follows is an infinite black screen. Customer service will not respond. Waste of 80 bucks.

@@spuddog8407 Yep. I don’t want people to fall for this crap. It’s a ripoff. I’ve tried to contact their customer support through email. Inbox was full. Through their return page, no response. Through their website chat. All they said was to pull out the SD card, plug it back in and restart. Nothing.

Well this is the only way you can get a handheld portable device with all kinds of games in it…..I personally hate having to buy different kinds of consoles because there’s different games for each….especially older games
