It was cool to hear Stuart Scott again. This is so nostalgic with all the old school ESPN Sportscenter announcers back when everyone watched. I miss that.
I knew it was gross. But I miss the Kingdome. Those 90s teams owned that place and the ball carried like crazy in there. No one owned that place like Jr. Just lightning fast batspeed, perfectly uppercutted, such a beautiful swing.
Stuart Scott miss you man. Booo ya!!! Miss your soundbites as they made the commentary so fun. Could seriously listen to his voice all day. And watch Ken Griffey Junior hit homers all day.
im getting GOOSEBUMPS!!!!! sweetest SWING EVER.....KILLING IT!!!!! IM just glad Dave passed after all these amazing calls.....WE WERE SPOILED!!!!!RIP STUART!!!!
I'm "the guy behind the plate" who's spoken of at the 30:20 mark. I have been searching for this footage for 23 years - thank you so much for posting!!!
@@patrickgoodman4576 Thanks!! It's crazy, I've been searching for any footage of that homer since the day after it happened, and had zero luck. I actually recorded this version on VHS (where the SportsCenter anchor referred to me - I think it was the 2am show!) , but we accidentally taped over it the very next day. And now I find it here, all these years later, and incredibly it''s the specific one I thought I'd never see again. Thank you @Detlef! I don't know how (or why) you were able to put together this incredible compilation, but man, I'm really appreciative that you did.
@@patrickgoodman4576 Ha! No, I'm the buffoon in the suite behind the plate who reacts in disbelief to Griffey's monster homer. I'd been yapping at him the whole game, stuff like "C'mon Junior, let's see what you got". The he showed me (and everyone else as well).
Holy Toledo Griffey was the best, in addition to the iconic calls. Stuart Scott, Dan Patrick, Kieth Oberman, Rich Eisen, Kenny Mane, and Chris Berman, the Mothership has not been the same without your energy. Love you, miss u.
Hey this is Bob in Connecticut and Junior is the best I ever saw and I am the biggest Yankee fan I have been a ticket holder for 30 years partial. And he did it without getting juiced. It’s hard to believe his big rookie card 1989 upper deck PSA 10 is only worth $2000. That is a disgrace it should be worth a small fortune😊😊😊
Detlef I caught jrs 354th home run 4/24/1999 Your video shows number 353, he hit 2 in that game The video then goes to the next game against Detroit Any chance you have access to that Hit? I had it recorded on vcr tape for years but it broke Thanks for anything you can do #detlef
His bent back/left arm and straight front/right arm, (arm bar for those modern swing gurus who think it's a bad thing), is how body mass/power is transferred to the barrel. It's also how he makes it look almost effortless.
it will always bug me that he couldn't stay healthy in the 2000s... just always wonder how many HRs he would have finished with. He should be the all time HR king.
No one can understand this Baseball Home Run Hitter legend in Seattle Mariner History. Only history in time will tell. A total of more than 500 Home Runs. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! at least 800 Home Runs. People cannot be jealous of him!!!!!!!! He controls himself. Legend for his team!!!!!!!!!! Can no one top his home run hitter history of Home Runs! He will be MISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOME RUN PLAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can Anyone? How about other countries like India or Canada or Europe or Africa opening? Many pitchers try to strike him out!!!!!!!!!!! Wow. They couldn't Give him millions of dollars. I may be Non-American but I surely love his Home Run History. i used to play little league and major little league baseball. Everybody wanted his baseball!
really any post 1999 highlights would be cool. He was out of the lineup a lot from 2001 on, but i still want to see anything cool he's done. Some things are trickling through, but most of the videos on yt of griffey are 1989-2000 and 2008-2010
@detlef Huge favor if you can. I caught his 354th home run and the ball was stolen, on ESPN and the news you could see me catch it. In your video it shows 353&355 It was the first home run of 2 in the game against the rays and you show the second. Any chance you have the footage of the first one
It was cool to hear Stuart Scott again. This is so nostalgic with all the old school ESPN Sportscenter announcers back when everyone watched. I miss that.
Yeah I felt the nostalgia, as a kid I was glued to Baseball Tonight, Sportscenter, and Keith Olbermen on Fox Sports
Agreed. Sports seemed to matter more. It was different
Now Keith is a complete nut job.
It feels great to hear Stuart Scott's voice
❤, I concur,
Sincerely your's,
Northeast Ohio.
Go Buck's!
If it wasn’t for injuries ken Griffey would have hit 800 homers or more
GUARANTEED

The greatest swing in the history of the sport.
Babe Ruth had a good swing too.
Him and Barry Bonds
Ted Williams
Jesus fuckin chidtt
💯
Kenny manyes line “he is amused by the simplicity of this game” is real talk because KGJ once quoted as saying “why is this game so easy to me?” Lol
Stuart Scott miss you man. Booo ya!!! Miss your soundbites as they made the commentary so fun. Could seriously listen to his voice all day. And watch Ken Griffey Junior hit homers all day.
I get to say I was alive to see the greatest baseball player ever Griffey!!
Me too!!! I was a Cubs fan and would watch the Mariners play just to see what Junior and A-Rod were gonna do. And Randy Johnson was scary!!!
I love how much Griffey tormented the Yankees 🤣🤣
I agree jamie. I appreciate these highlights more than anyone could ever know. My all tie favorite player
im getting GOOSEBUMPS!!!!! sweetest SWING EVER.....KILLING IT!!!!! IM just glad Dave passed after all these amazing calls.....WE WERE SPOILED!!!!!RIP STUART!!!!
Good luck finding a sweeter swing than Junior’s.

It should be a law that the only player who should be used as an example for proper hitting mechanics for young players is Griffey.
Yea keep these coming my guy. My favorite baseball player ever! The Griffster‼️
Holy Toledo Griffey was the best, in addition to the iconic calls.

Love you, miss u.
The only difference between pitching a fastball or a breaking ball to Jnr was which deck of the stands it ended up in
I love how you can see the upper deck of the King Dome go from shut down, to sparsely filled, to max. Favorite memories as a kid, all in these clips.
249 home runs during that 5 year span...damn
Best video on TH-cam. Thanks for posting!
He just makes it look so effortless
I cant stop watching

The sweetest swing ever
If not for the "lost years" in Cincinnati (injured much of 2001-2004), he'd easily be another member of the 700 club. Sweetest swing.
800 Club alone.
0:45 you already knows it's over before it began when Ken Griffey Jr. is present during the ball game
just some really awesome homers from kg . great stuff ! keep it coming !

The true home run king of the era.
Best all around player I’ve ever watched in person
He has an exaggerated hip and shoulder rotation. It creates bat lag and, speeds of the bat head through the hitting zone.
His bent back/left arm and straight front/right arm, (arm bar for those modern swing gurus who think it's a bad thing), is how body mass/power is transferred to the barrel. It's also how he makes it look almost effortless.
@@ThekiBoran I agree w/ what your saying. I agree w/ the idea of feet hips hands as, a way of learning to to hit the ball.
Absolutely the most beautiful swing in baseball history.
Ken Griffey Jr. is the greatest Seattle Mariner of all-time. That swing was so sweet.

Griffey hit 630 career home runs. Had he stayed healthy the second half of his career he easily tops 800 career home runs

Effortless home run swing.
It's a mechanically sound swing.
Where is Dave?
Soups on.
