Interesting! My ‘09 just started having stiff steering problems but the power steering pump seems to be in working order, no leaks, no noise. Now I’ll inspect the shaft. Thanks !
yay, a sunny day, we never see them around here, a good day to replace my shaft on my crvic, right after i do the intake, Cal-Van sparkplug inserts, and many others
Thanks for the video I have the same problem with my crown Victoria I took it to the shop, They said the power steering pump was ok and that I need to replace the intermediate steering shaft. I took it out about 30 mins ago and will replace it tomorrow and pray that solves my problem. It's hard steering left and right but as long as it's straight it's ok, no vibration, no wondering or loose steer. Just got to fight to turn it. Thanks for the video
Great video! I bought a 2008 LX summer and heard this can be a problem. Every oil change I give the knuckles on the shaft a shot of Liquid-Wrench Lithium. So far so good. 😊
I'm having a diff issue yet the same? ok mine i think is a tie rod if my 2005 vic has one all i can see is ends for replacement parts anyway it started suddenly bad alignment steering wheel cocked quarter turn to the left to go straight it pulls hard to the right and the steering is loose to hard on and off, seemly hard to the left and easy to the right. Will bring this to my mechanic soon as i can problem is i work 3rd shift and sleep during normal people's hours . oh and bad tire wear outside of front right tire. this all happened in the span of 2-3 months. I drive in hartford it's a crappy city full of potholes it's hell on any vehicle.
That's always a great feeling when you try the easier solution first and it works.
My 2003 Town Car has this exactly as you described. Thank you. You saved me a lot of time and money.
Funny how you released this video at the same time I bought a Crown Vic with this problem
Did u fixs it

Good job. I'd say do the upper one too while you're in there, it also has a u-joint that can bind up eventually.
Replaced both upper and intermediate shafts on my 04 town car...1 year later it became stiff again..now I grease it every 2 months

Thank you for sharing the video.
Thanks for that.good work.
You could get that fixed for free at the dealer it should still be under a recall
Looks like the recall was done. There is a heat shield on the exhaust manifold.
@@encinobalboa so that means mine was done also from the previous owner. Mine went bad again
my 2011 was same way , the shaft only articulated with a hammer
It is called the LOWER shaft - NOT intermediate.
Lower intermediate shaft technically. Or lower-I shaft.
Will the steering out of a regular crown vic vit a p71
Yes I believe so.
