Hi Carol. I think you have done a wonderful job with Netti. I have a Renault traffic converted into a motorhome and I have fitted a diesel heater, I would say that it warms the van really quickly the only problem with it is that you hear a dull ticking sound but I think it outweighs the inconvenience of the van being cold. Good luck with your venture’s and best wishes. Chris.
Chinese diesel heater, fit a 2 or a 5kw in there Carol, when fitting swap to an ultra silent pump for about a tenner. Pump under the van diesel heater under a seat or bed area… I can’t hear ours at all. We’re on our second vehicle with one now and the first was still going strong at almost 6yrs old. The pump makes a slight ticking sound when new but quietens down after being use a few hours.
I think it's absolutely right that you wouldn't be able to get anything like Netty for £3500 🙌 I think she looks fab, but it comes down to how you feel about her...and I'm glad you are excited again, as I know you'll have wonderful adventures in her 🙏😍 Just like to say that I'm always impressed by your renovation skills...how you take anything on and always do such a fantastic job 👏 if I had (or get 😁) a camper/mini-caravan that needed some renovation love, I'd definitely be looking at hiring you Carol 🙏😁👏 Enjoy the rest of your weekend Carol 🤗 🤗
Good evening. No need to worry about the fiddly switch on the light. Leave it turned on and cut the feed to it from the battery. Put a switch in wherever it is convenient and safe. It's a ten minute job......or an hour in female time. Take care ❤
For the heater... have you not seen the 5 litre metal bucket? fill with sand, and a copper strip loop on the inside (sort of like a handle shape) ... then 2 tea lights under the copper strip. That little thing seems to throw some heat out. And no humming😊
Nice one Carol. Great vlog. I was shouting at my screen saying dont put the lights up paint first and yay you did that. well done. Im thinking of getting my first campervan and find the cost of a nearly new one crazy money and so many vlogs i watch are from ppl who have new or nearly new campervans with endless issues on them. So in total agreement you have invested rwell with purchase 12 months mot and internal refurb under £3.5 k. Btw another you tube channel Alex the Cameraman who you may know also purchased a 1989 Talbot campervan like yours. He is doing major refurb on his in which one recent episode he shows how easy it was to supply a new diesel heater. Perhaps look him up you may be able to exchange thoughts and ideas. Till the next one....
Yes ive recently subscribed to Alex's channel to watch his progress. I'm waiting with baited breath to see if he removes the cladding on.the ceiling...I think it might be hiding a few things 🤔 His is going to look so different inside once he's finished.
Great wee vlog, thank you. Will be interested to learn what folk recommend for a quiet diesel heater. Like you I’ve been thinking about one but also like you, can’t stand buzzing noises!! I do have a gas fire but never used it - not so keen to be honest. My own van is 21 years old - love her.
Diesel heaters do make some noise. I found it annoying at first when I first bought my VW.....but now in the Boxer.....it doesn't really bother me. Its not like its on when you're sleeping so shouldnt really be an issue. And for the heat they throw out, its definitely worth it 😊
Well done and well said old need not mean expensive 😊. Diesel heaters can be noisy but it depends on the make and where its fitted. If it can be under slung and fueled from the Diesel tank you won't notice it.Other options are gas fire if you have it or as you said a log burner if you have storage for the wood as it's bulky.
Hi nice videos …. Don’t take any notice of people saying no parts for your van … all engine parts and service parts are still readily available…. Everything is Peugeot…. There is a camper exactly the same as your getting done up and he has no problems getting new parts from Europe parts or GSF car parts …… the smoking you get on startup is also not a problem …. You might also see a little lack of power going up hills and both these problems are pump timing an easy fix and as far as the cost of your camper you got a very good deal ….. at this point with mot your looking at £4k to £6k
I did have some things stuck with velcro in my old camper but found that that it would start peeling off in the hotter weather. The tape was absolutely rubbish anyway so I've used No Nails on some of the things 🤣
Hi Carol she is looking great and i love the colour and good price for the lights and wow 3 months you have to wait for that window for your caravan thats mad you ready Xmas xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@sarahmarsden6988 I know, I was shocked how long it's going to take. Just glad I'm not wanting to use the caravan at the mo. No way near ready for Xmas 🙈🤣😊
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned in the comments but if you have water tank be sure to drain it in the colder months if your not using the Talbot to much 🤘
Iam an engineer for a bus company and parts are a major issue even for 2020 registered vehicles what are still in production was quoted six months for new anti roll bar last year!
Hi Carol, glueing everything umm lol yes those new lights are much better as for spare parts have been waiting so far 5 months for a sensor for my 6yr old car. Great vid take care
Hi Carol, just recently found your channel ( it’s more the case that it found me really). I have subscribed and I’m currently binge watching but not in any particular order). At £3,400 you have got yourself a bargain there. Some people pay that for just 1 holiday whereas you have potentially got a few years holiday with Nessie (I hope I got the name right?). I’m looking forward to the next few days whilst I catch up. (Geoff)
@ In answer to your question, I did fit the diesel heater into my van and it was pretty easy. What I would suggest, is follow the instructions to be safe because the exhaust needs to be outside of your vehicle and not touching any surfaces because it does get hot. There are quite a few videos on TH-cam that you could watch.. as I said in my previous message, you do hear a slight taking when it is running but it is certainly no louder than a log burner
Hello diesel heaters do make a noise. It can range from a ticking to a dull knocking sound. I can't stand a watch or clock ticking, But I soon got used to the diesel heater. It actually has its benefits I'm so used to the sound that I even know when it's running out of fuel. I have a 2kw heater fitted Chinese to my van. Van is around the size of yours 15 ft head to toe. It's 2c outside and 17c inside running at it lowest setting. They are a dry heat unlike gas that are damp. Damp being no good. Wood burning are also dry running BUT it's hard to find places to fire them up. I'm currently broken down waiting for a fuel pump, no way could I use a wood burning stove. Diesel yea magnificent. Found a pump without much of a problem. Had a custom fitted engine fitted, engine is 38 years old van is 43 years old. Parts are available. It seems to be down to algorithms context of the search pattern. Oh by the way if you are interested in knowing the ins and outs of diesel heating system. Look up John mck 47 TH-cam he is an engineer he knows the good bad and ugly side of them. In most part they are very very good. Safe and reliable parts are cheap as chips. Safe travelling
Oh brilliant, thank you so much for all the info I really appreciate it 😃. Definitely looks like a diesel heater is the way forward so many people are recommending them. Will have to see if I'm upto the job of fitting one 🤔😆. Do love these older vans though, despite all their little problems ♥️
There is company that will make a caravan window or motorhome window up. as long as you have the broken one to go off on size etc. i dont know there name off hand at moment, But its always a thought should you need in future Carol.x
Hi again, glad I found your channel an im watching my way through your vids.Did you get a diesel heater? If not try Liam the terrible,he has a channel too and would see you good for a heater
I just fitted a diesil heater in the conservatory which feeds into the back room they are a bit noisy for a camper I'm going to change the pump to quiten it down cost 8p a hour to run on diesil😊 from garage. Going to run it on keresene when I get a delivery sorted will cost about 3p a hour to run😅would drive u bonkers in a small van😢 unless its outside.saved a thousand pound on heating this year will pay for a month in spain. Holla😅
Cheap personalised motorhome at that money, I have an old vw t4 autosleeper motorhome with gas heating but I have just fitted a diesel heater under one of the bench seats as an alternative. Its very quiet once the van is at the set temperature, at 18 degrees ticking over you can barely hear it and it costs next to nothing to run.
Have a look at the heap that "socks with sandals" yt, has been saddled with, carols is worlds apart, i'm amazed at how much old motorhomes cost, even more amazed at the price of new ones also,. One word of advice is take out breakdown cover for it, just in case,. cheers ,.
@cabovermike Oh bless I know, I do follow him he's had nothing but bad luck with that motorhome. He's still not giving up though. Yes I do have breakdown cover 😊
Thanks Dave, it's just kinda lingering at not quite getting to the 5k, I'd set a little goal that I would like to reach it by the end of the year 🤞. Maybe I need to get that bikini out 🤣🤣
She WAS! A Bloody GOOD Buy!! ... You didn't buy it as an Investment anyway ... She'll give you Years of Happiness ... Which of course! - Is the 'real investment' 🤠
Cheap home if you're homeless 😮I bought bulbs 6 pound on ebay they have a sensor in them led so cheap to run so can have about ten of them for the price of 1 60 watt bulb.only use in hall and landing so they come on automaticly when going in and out walking between frontroom to kitchen or bathroom

Brilliant video, and well said i have a Talbot and she's 40 yrs old love her.
Oh wow, older than Netty. They are great, once you get used to their little ways 😊
Hi Carol. I think you have done a wonderful job with Netti. @Papillion-Man No not heard of that one. I've seen the terracotta pots and tealights .
Not convinced they'd warm to the heat I like though lol.
I'm doing the exact same at the moment 😂 and I have the same wire cutter set. It's pretty cool once I learned how to use it 🤣🤣❤
Haha, I know i just wanted to keep stripping wires for the sake of it 🤣
@carol_ann_living.in.the.moment I did one more today and then discovered a small crack in the showr basin so fixed that 😪🤣❤️
Diesel heaters are noisy to start with but as they get up to temperature, they just tick along. Once it gets warm i turn mine down to 2 or 3.
Thanks for that 😊
Excellent work Carol . Love all your content .❤️
Thank you and thanks for your support 😊

You’ve done a really good job on her, I love these old mohos
Thanks Bob, yes they've certainly got an appeal haven't they 😊
Yes, the new ones have lots of problems. TH-cam is full of them, from air bag lights, engine management lights & general poor quality fittings.
Its the same with new caravans too .
