The Kepper is very good and seems a nice guy to play with... Good job.

I know NOTHING about your channel, but I'm now subscribed. I can't thank the keeper enough for giving me an example of what it is to gm a CoC game, which I am scheduled to do in a week for my friends XD Appreciate you guys!

I loved this, great job! The Keeper had some _hauntingly_ beautiful character acting.
I'm running this scenario as my first time as Keeper tomorrow and you've given me some great inspiration.
I only wish we could have seen this great duo enter the basement or investigate the ruined church.
I will say the ending of getting arrested felt very abrupt, I would have enjoyed them evading the cops for a while to get the mystery furthered a bit more. 😎

Update: my investigators were a Professor, a Sci-Fi Author and a Librarian.
They did really well and chased down almost every lead, but everything fell apart once they reached the basement.
Earlier, the Professor fell down into ruined chapel basement and broke his leg.
Later he got struck by the bed in the Master Bedroom and thrown through the window, cutting his face on the glass.
and finally he tripped down the basement stairs with his crutches and smashed his head on the ground, leaving him unconscious.
The Author and the Librarian were completely stumped by the flying knife and fled, leaving the Professor to his fate. The Author soon returned for the Professor, but it was too late. he had been taken by the Thing in the walls.
The Author and Librarian giving into desperation and anger, returned with gasoline and razed the house themselves.
The Author walked away while it burned, trapped in the memory of what should never have been, eventually checking into a Sanatarium.
The Librarian stayed and fought the fire-fighters, ensuring the house would not be saved. He was sentenced to 15 years of prison time for arson, suspiciously pushed through by the Councilman behind the cult (whom the party had previously confronted in his counsel office, to no avail).
The fires ravaged the House, and the walls collapsed in on themselves. The thing in the basement was sealed. and nobody had a happy ending.
And that was my first game as a Keeper.
      Thanks for reading.

I'm planning on running this as a new Keeper in a couple of weeks for some new to rp players, so this is a big help! Love how you did the NPCs and how the characters act, really fun to watch.

1920s Cuban cigars would have been fine. Fidel Castro wasn’t born ‘til 1926 and Cuba was a US protectorate until 1925 with growing tourism . I love the PCs and the bonding in the trenches over the spontaneous gift of some dry socks.
Nice to see The Haunting and COC getting some airtime.
    Nicely done chaps!

Great show though Cuban cigars didn't become illegal until the 1960s :D

That threw me off too. Cuba was barely a country in 1920. Founded in 1902.

not all groups can goof off and make those OOC jokes.
It's good to see it done properly.
    Good Channel. Subbed.

I’m a new subscriber and looking forward to see London play keeper in other adventures. He has great energy and composure. The players were pretty lax and while they acted as the characters during dialogue , I felt they played it as themselves and were meta-gaming a bit. Just a simple critique from someone that enjoyed it. I’m not surprised by the ending. Great handling of their choice at the end.

1:32:09 - 1924 is long before the Cuba revolution, let alone any that would make Cuban cigars illegal.

Everyone was clearly bored as you got to the two hour mark. I reckon it was the constant investigation of rooms with nothing going on.
Couple of things, you could have improvised some clues in those rooms, or some backstory. And when you got Conan to do the listen roll (presumably because you wanted to draw them towards the upstairs room) you should have just given them the sound without the need for a roll. Lol your disappointed expression and response when he failed that roll was priceless 🤪

  • @larsdahl5528

    Nice!
I find this a bit too typical for a CoC scenario: Ending with the investigators never understood what was going on.
That is a reason why I am not so keen on running CoC for people completely new to role-playing, as they get a disappointing first experience which often causes them to lose interest in roleplaying.
A few things I would, if I was the Keeper, do differently: When hiring the investigators I would tell them more about the reason to hire them, so they have a bit more initial knowledge of why they are hired. - Remember: A Keeper has to tell the player what their character knows! Thus there is some extra work to be done in letting the players know what their characters know.
At the newspaper, I would give them better customer service, as it is an opportunity to reward the players for doing some investigation. A chance to tell them what happened back then, and why people are scared of the house.
The same goes for the asylum, though the investigators do aim for the patients, it is still an opportunity for the personnel to provide them with some useful information.
If I was an investigator, I would (be less paranoid, and) try to get more information about why I am hired, what has been tried, and what successful outcome is expected to be.
At the newspaper, I would (be annoyed with their poor service) ask if I could read the archive newspapers from back then, if they deny that, I would go to a library and read there instead.
At the asylum, I would ask the workers more. - And, when asked, pretend to be a man of faith, to gain some trust.
In the house, I would, when finding the diary, retreat to read it, and return the next day.

Honestly, the pub thing became too much. Felt like the player was just trying to side track the story. If you don't want to play this specific story why are you here..?
