    I’d probably buy a Slingshot before I bought a trike. If I couldn’t ride two wheels, I’d most likely be done with handlebars. Another solid video Dan!!

      Thanks Jay I appreciate it. These opportunities are wild and I’m happy someone enjoys the contents. Let’s me keep doing this nonsense.

    My wife and I bought a new Slingshot on May 25 of this year (our 50th wedding anniversary).It looks just like the one in this video except it has black wheels and a cheaper radio. We have rode about 350,000 miles on motorcyces, the last two were Harley TriGides due to health issues.. My wife has battled cancer eight times since 2010. She maxed out on Chemo, radistion and Cyber knife treatments and is currently on immunotharpey treatments and wil be every 28 days for the rest of her life. By the way, Harley trikes ride like an old dumop truck, simply awful. My last Harley, a $37,000 Tri Gide broke down four times within the first year. Now I feel sorry for the people I see on a Harley.
    I wanted another two wheeled motorcycyle, but my wife wanted a side by side to ride out on the country roads. I think we got the best of both worlds with the Slingshot. Many times Slingshots are compared to sport cars. I bought a new 2019 Fiat 124 Spyfer and it was fun and I liked it a lot. But my wife wanted a red Camaro convertibale so I traded the Fiat in on a Camaro which was no fun at all.
    The Slingshot is more out in the open since it has such a small windshirld and no doors, so it does feel more like a motorcycyle than a sport car. and It is a blast to drive. My wife is crippled thanks to the cancer, the treatments and 12 surgerie. She can no longer climb on a motorcycyle but she can fall into our Slingshot and I can help her out when we get home.
    So a Slingshot can be for old people with health issues and keep them out there enjoying life.
    Thanks for sharing this video.

    I use the term "Sunday Car" for a nice weather, Sunday drive kind of vehicle.
    Very much enjoyed your two vlogs on the Slingshot

    In the process of buying a Slingshot. The “what could go wrong” title was misleading, the answer was “nothing went wrong”. Aside from that, I enjoyed your accessment of the trike.

    Nice video with great scenery. But I already have a 30+ K summer only vehicle. Have had plenty of convertibles over the years. But I could see a niche for this type of vehicle.

    Do you need a motorcycle license or a regular drivers license to drive it.

    One of the angle am looking at that is rated 'deadly products' is the sides rear-view mirror.
    I have had a near fatality incident in a freeway when a service vehicles' piece of plywood flies and hit & torn my left side-view mirror on Honda Accord. Fortunately, side window are up.
    Visualized it may happens to a Slingshot!

    I wasn't impressed. Rented one that was fairly new and the belt wine was terrible and just felt cheap all around. Think they are all over priced as well. Yea, Polaris has the entry model for about 20k and a loaded one for over 34k. Just a frame and a plastic though. To me I think starting at 15k and topping at about 23k would be more in line. Vanderhall is even more barebones and even more money. Think they discontinued the cheap 25k model blackjack too. The Morgan and T-Rex are even more ridiculously priced!

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love comments like this. Saying "It wasn't for me" is totally fine, but the explanation why makes no sense. First the belt whine is "terrible" is a head scratcher, belts whine just like chains have their own distinct sounds. If you don't like the belt whine, that's not a Slingshot thing, its a belt thing. The price comment while I understand the root of it, lacks and appreciation for how volume dictates price. If Polaris sold 300,00 niche units annually (wouldn't even happen if it cost $10,000) it would be cheaper, they do sell more units than Morgan, T-Rex, and Vanderhall which is why they are much cheaper than those. While I think the price point makes it a tough decision for the masses to consider, it doesn't make it an unreasonable price. Sure everything would be better if it were all priced so everyone could afford everything however that isn't how money works. To think a 3 wheeled fully welded frame, incredible infotainment, speakers, 2.0L engine attached to a very respectable automotive 5 speed manual, power steering, power brakes, Fully (and great) LED lighting, and overall size should be priced at the same as Harley-Davidson Street Bob is far more ridiculous than the price of a Morgan and T-Rex combined.
      That reply might come off as chippy but not intentional, just an overall rejection of the modern version of my grandpa when he found out a VCR cost $35 at Service Merchandise saying "Back in my day" we used to....... Its that kind of thought process applied to modern products that drives me a little batty.

    They need to make a four-wheel vehicle out of that... 'Nuff said!!!...

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Problem with making it a four wheeled vehicle is then it becomes a car, needs airbags, crash testing, adds a ton of weight not only in safety equipment but in rear end suspension and drivetrain components. It would become more expensive and less fun to drive due to power to weight ratio.

    Classified as a motorcycle in New York, which is ridiculous! Need a 3-wheel mc license endorsement, and required to wear a helmet. It’s not a motorcycle…it’s a sporty motor vehicle with a single rear drive wheel. Not to say that they’re not cool, but they’re not motorcycles.

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most places have them classified as autocycles now which is cool because it’s rightfully it’s own category. Buffalo born and raised so I’m well aware of the NYS way of doing things.
