The Donky Kong part is not Mario who does the abuse but the person who is named jumpman has been confirmed by nintendo to be Mario's father but that doesn't excuse his other stuff like the many affairs he had with Peach ,Pauline and Daisy and he cares for his brother in origami king and the other games in the origami series he shows strong compasion for his brother and tries to help him but in other games he acts horribly to those around him and nintendo has confirmed Mario punching yoshi in super yoshi island .So it's 50/50 evil and good Mario but he still saves Peach from Bowser even if for selfish ressons he still saves her
@spear2403 depends on which game your talking about there's one pixelated game and in that game he broke up with peach and saves Daisy and Daisy kisses him ,but that as all Mario games are ,has questionable canoninity within the lore and games so, yeah and not Pauline cause it would be weird trying to bang your mom since jumpman not truly confirmed if he is Mario would be Mario's father thus making Pauline his mother and trying something romantic in any way would be awkward and weird

In the Super Mario World manual there is a drawing of Mario riding Yoshi and pointing forward so that Yoshi sticks out his tongue. Which denies the theory that Mario hits Yoshi

Even Scott Cawthon had to say something about MatPat making a theory that would've been the original intention. He said that sometimes, if the player figures something out or publicizes their idea, they will sometimes have to scratch the original plan, and do something else. Even in another video, he confirmed by one of the developers of Nintendo that yes, it does look more like a hit to yoshi, instead of a tap. They didn't orignally think that is what it looked like until someone else brought it up.
