I feel very privileged to be able to see this and learn more about what the earlier days for the Greeks in Oz were like. I was born in Sydney in the sixties. Watching this has been such an education. Kudos to the makers of these films.
What an honour it was to see my Grandfather Michael Nicholas laying the foundation stone of the Greek Orthodox Church,St Nicholas (named after his father, Nicholas ). My Grandparents Michael & Mitsa (Jasmin Michelides) lived in. Darwin during the 1950s with my mother Nina Stergoulis running with the Olympic Torch in Darwin 1956 with my Grandfather as President of the Greek Community & Chairman of the Rer Cross, Darwin. Mums brothers, Nicky & Evan Nicholas spent most of their school years there having moved back to Perth in the 1970s Debbie Agapitos
Very great historic video of the Greeks in the Northern Territory,in Darwin...45 minutes nostalgic memories(stories, people, places) for my birthland city and for my parents,it was the best time of they lives ,11 living, hard working and have great time of simple better life, years in Darwin(1963-1974 few months before Tracy's disaster we left and come back to Greece)and it was second ''patrida'' home, open hug for my parents Argy(Anargyros) Manousakos and Soula(Athanasia)Matziorou- Manousakos to create a better life and make family. We always remember and feel all these years in Greece, half Aussies and like every other Greek-Australian family,we remember those years and love everything about Darwin and the Aussie's simple lifestyle...and maybe now we are living many years in Greece but our half part of our heart and thinking is in Australia and specialy in Northern Territory,in Darwin!!...Who knows someday we return to Darwin!
However, despite a couple of inaccuracies, this is a wonderful video. I enjoyed it immensely and it provided a lot of concrete information and a storyline that brought the history alive for me. Thank you!
43:16, Kon Vatskalis says it all, that the real Greeks were the ones that left Greece long ago, and maintained all their customs and traditions in their new home of Australia. Beautiful documentary and a wonderful insight into Darwin's rich past. Well done.
At 10.39 there is a photo of my grandfather, Alexandros Harmanis, with his bride, Evangelia Cominos. The voiceover identifies the man in the photo as Louis Harmanis. Louis was Alexandros' brother, brought out to Australia along with his brothers and sisters by my grandfather, Alexandros Harmanis, but this picture does not show Louis.
I was very surprised that Darwin had a Greek history, I wouldn't have known. I lived in Darwin for a year also. It was boring and nothing fascinating there. Weather is horrible.

An informative journey down memory lane for the Greeks who made the Territory a great place.
It is a wonderful video of people who left their homeland to come to Australia. Very well produced and presented on all levels. Wonderful!
Πραγματικά μας κάνετε πολύ περήφανους!!!

As a Greek I lived in Darwin for a year. It was terrible, the worst experience of my life.
