I left high school in 2003 and was taught very little about the history of aborigines in my own country. I learnt more by working with and forming friendships with many aborigines in the min8ng industry. I used to fear aborigines because I grew up with parents in hospitality who had a lot of issues with aborigines but now I have a very strong admiration for their culture and who they are, very soulful and spiritual people with strong connection to country. I hope the younger generations realise how important their culture and customs are and learn them to carry them forward before this valuable information is lost.
Just cos 1 of us did you wrong doesn't mean all of us would. Just like if I met 1 racist white person I wouldn't automatically think all of them are. It's individuals
Yes at the very least they should teach a lot more history in the Australian School Systems. We teach History about so many other Countries & we comprehensively cover every major War, but when it comes to our own Aboriginal History, its glossed over.
Thank you. Thank you so much for making about this. I thought my history would never be talked about. I thought I would never see the day, I’m so happy. I’ve never seen myself in a video and yet here I am. My culture and history is finally in a video.
Great documentary. The minister of health of the Aboriginals also has an attitude. While they eat and live their best thes people and their generations are hungry, disadvantaged and left behind. Wickedness always starts from the top
Ask every single suburbs Aboriginal centre that is tax payer funded to provide for their communities, where the money is. It's Aboriginal people that steal from Aboriginal people.
John Pilger. The Great Writer of Australia's Dirty Secret, Aborigines, Documentary, and History Should be awarded the Noble Prize for Humanity and Honesty.
Thank you John Pilger for sharing & exposing this to the world. The cruellest atrocities committed and the level of horror and evil that transpired is unbelievable!
Negrito people were here first and nobody talks about this they killed all the negrito peoples we owe them nothing if they don’t want to move on in life up to them our government still given them money
Still happening and will never change. So many ignorant white people who don't care. That minister should have gone to jail for the injustice of that man's death being cooked in that can . Disgusting evil people all should be brought to justice. It will never change until they are all held accountable for their evils.
The BRITS are hated all over the world...and this is why. Any where a BRIT puts his foot he claims that land as his. They have destroyed millions of indigenous peoples worldwide. The Spanish are just as guilty!!

It's not 100% accurate. Some of this is based on knowledge from propaganda information. It's hard to prove it's all true. So, to teach it in schools, parents can sue the education board for pushing propaganda. It may be all true. Who knows? But not all of it is proven

sorry but your incorrect. In Australian schools we were taught enough to know that certain things happened and were happening to my mob .It was then up to YOU to continue on reading all the well available documents revealing the fine details. It's amazing how much is swept under the rug. I did a tour of Lake Argyle and felt a sense of sadness at the thought of the indigenous people displaced when the dam was created. I asked the tour operator directly and was told they have been asked not to talk about that history.
This is typical of Labor and the Liberals. They treat the Australian public like fools. Albo is worst. He is misleading Australian people with a vote based on ethnicity. Anyone can practically claim to be Aboriginal because the Liebor party made it is for people to this. The Uluru Statement of whatever it was is totally misleading. Many Aboriginal people did not support it but a select chosen number of people were involved. The Voice is totally dishonest because it fails to explain the implications of its implementation. It is vague. How can anyone come up with this nonsense?
We’ve been here in Australia for 35 years and still experience blatant racism, especially the stigma put on us brown skin/dark skinned people. So I can ONLY imagine what our indigenous people would have been experiencing many centuries before us. Racism isn’t born, it IS BRED… by people who fear what they do not know and what they don’t WANT TO KNOW.. It is still strong in AUSTRALIA, not only out in the cities but strongly in remote communities. 😔
The racism here is disgraceful. Sorry to hear you experience racism. The only city where it's a bit progressive and has less racism ( albeit , this does not mean NO racism) is Melbourne. My African and First Nations friends say this about living here in Melbourne, compared to Perth or Queensland. I can't wait to leave Australia, it's a cold uncouth culture and it locks up asylum seekers, some have been locked up for 10 years. I don't know how they get away with it. Aus promotes itself as a PC democracy meanwhile it locks up kids as young as 10, no other first world nation has such a low incarceration age.
If it's such a horrible, racist hell-hole, why have you stayed here for 35 years? You must have come from somewhere pretty horrendous to want to endure the day to day nightmare that you feel Australia is. The great thing about this country is you are free to leave any time you wish.
It's terable hey I'm white and racism was so bad towards us in parts of Australia. Funny thing is they more white than me saying it's there land well fuck off we won it fair and square 😂😂😂😂
Yep the racism is on both sides, my hubby and I was walking across the road in Coffs hbr a couple of years ago a group of young aboriginal girls. Cursed us called us white f and c....was awful...so yes it is
@@BCl-dn4gn Most Australians have seen this behaviour from Aboriginals in their day to day lives but it's never reported on in the media. The only racism ever shown is the few times a year a Caucasian person is recorded on a mobile being racist. The media want to portray it as only occurring from one demographic. Fortunately, we all have the right to vote here and Australians saw through the overwhelmingly biased media coverage during the referendum and voted NO to the racist Voice proposal.

@@annanudniduck They are all brain-washed, mindless lemmings who have been indoctrinated over almost 40 years from a young age. Every year in Perth 300'000+ people turn out for the Skyworks celebration until last year when the local council decides it is not going to do it any more. This isn't because of public opinion, it's a small number of people forcing others to conform to their minority view of the world. Question: Tell me, when you are marching in your protest rally, raging against the horrible outcomes of colonisation, do you ever think of the hypocrisy of doing that while you are wearing clothes and footwear, walking on a road between buildings, having driven there in you car, waving banners with written language on them, using public address systems that run on electricity, probably stopping off sometime during the day to buy instantly available food and water before using a flushing toilet to relieve yourself while recording everything on your mobile phone to share with the world on the internet to get validation? All of which you wouldn't be able to do if the culture that was here for tens of thousands of years continued into the present day unchanged. Just saying...

Reading the comments, makes me wonder how the “Anglosphere” doesn’t realize that Canada, U.S., NZ, Australia and SA, have the same shared history because the type of colonialism that the Anglo Saxon Protestant man implemented was pretty straightforward. It was to eliminate, exterminate and annihilate anything that wasn’t him.

18:00 proud of the past - "the corregated tin was newer." We lived in West Aus couple of years 1981ish. At Cragie Senor High School there was a couple of Abos. And where they sat - there was a wide circle around them as they never washed. Pilger does lay on the kindygarten accent a bit thick. I was told by uncle of Abos being set up in a house - they made a camp fire in middle of lounge and were using bits of the house as wood- I was told this around 1979. But -I had a friend in NZ who said he was over in Aus and was destitute - and Abos such as those huts took him in and were good to him when he really needed it.

The real problem is that Aboriginal people are treated differently than other Australians. This must change. Australia is a democracy where all Australians must be treated equally. Get rid of the Aboriginal welfare industry that is consuming most of the government funding. Spend the money on fixing the problems rather than spending it on the people who just talk about fixing the problems.
Oh wow.... It's just mind blowing how cruel people (of all shades clothed in all kinds of excuses) can be over and over and unapologetically! One thing is clear though. The reason why even the greatest and most majestic ancient civilizations are now glorified in museums and history books is because we continue to fail to acknowledge that we all need each other. Humanity keeps making this mistake over and over... And over and over we will fall. We need to be one to progress perpetually.... . Why can't we just get it?
Just moved to Australia from New Zealand two months ago. I wanted to educate myself on the history of primarily around the aboriginal people and came across your documentary. This is so well done however at the same time very, very sad. It blows my mind how many people are so ignorant still, don’t do their research etc and that this is still happening, it’s disgusting 😢 Again, wonderfully done & thank you.
People are ignorant about this history, and it is by design, don't you think? After all, how can this history be considered compatible with the 'civilized' first world and their 'superior values'. It raises so many questions. It is a reminder, how important it is to break free from the mainstream beliefs, and do your own research.
Gary Foley's Koori website is how I educated myself. He's a legend, long term Indigenous activist, founder of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy ( one of the greatest land rights movements in history) historian and professor .

Why is it that I and plenty of other aboriginals that I know are happy with our life’s and celebrate Australia Day like every other Australian does. I have a really good job in the mines that I definitely got preference over white fellas as I am local and indigenous to the area. Yet I still see other black fellas living in central Australia where I live also, living in poverty and not doing anything with their lives, what makes me different to them?? I know what happened in the past was terrible but white fellas that are in Australia today didn’t commit these atrocities, I believe I as a black fella I have more benefits than a white fella does. Imagine if white fellas never come to Australia I would have probably been out in the desert trying to survive, but instead I have bought a house and car and am doing really well for myself. Why are problems that aboriginals cause on themselves never mentioned, I and multiple friends and family have been raped and bashed since we were little kids, the violence that happens in a lot of aboriginal homes would blow majority of Australians minds, yet we sit here and talk about what happened in the past instead of trying to help those poor children living in those conditions TODAY. It blows my mind how delusional most people in the city are about these things. Proud to be Australian 🇦🇺🇦🇺
In Australia we are about to hold e referendum, to either give the indigenous people a right to make recommendations to parliament or not.The Murdoch empire and the conservative sector of the population, including the alternate government are opposed.
Most First Nations tribes weren’t consulted about it. Many don’t support it. It’s more complex than it seems. First Nations people have never ceded sovereignty. Due to illegal changes made to the Aust constitution in 1973, a vote for the Voice means that they will cede their sovereignty. After surviving many genocides; wars; massacres; destruction of Country, culture, languages etc, having their sovereignty stolen from them via a sneaky referendum is quite despicable.

Aborigines have lived for thousands of years. Nature has always provided for them, they were given a gift "The Dream World." But nature could not protect them from the minds of the greed, and now they live like animals, lost in this morden matrial world, forgotten. Shunted aside, robbed, and belittled of their rich knowledge of nature and life. People of Australia call Aborigines a menace to society because they are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Substances that were forced upon them, so they can be easily controlled by the minds of the greed. With all the hatred, with all the cruelty the Aborigines endured, their hearts are still pure, after all Nature has chosen the Aborigines to be the guardians of "The Dream World." The commenter is clearly impressed with the documentary and found it to be very thought-provoking. They were surprised to learn that such atrocities were still being committed in "1st" world countries, and they enjoyed the no-holds-barred journalism of John Pilger. The commenter also makes an interesting point about the aboriginal peoples' relationship to the land, arguing that just because they did not own it in the same way that Europeans did does not mean that they did not have a right to it. I agree with the commenter that this is a very important documentary that everyone should see. It is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights, and it shines a light on the dark side of colonialism. I also appreciate the way that the documentary challenges our assumptions about the relationship between humans and the land. It is a timely and important film that everyone should watch. Here are some additional thoughts on the documentary: The documentary is well-researched and well-made. Pilger does a great job of presenting the facts in a clear and concise way, and he also does a good job of weaving in personal stories to bring the issue to life. The documentary is very disturbing in some parts, but it is important to watch it because it shows the reality of what is happening to aboriginal peoples around the world. The documentary is also hopeful in some parts, as it shows the resilience of the aboriginal peoples and their determination to fight for their rights. Overall, I think this is a very important documentary that everyone should watch. It is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights, and it shines a light on the dark side of colonialism.
55% of the Australian land-mass has been returned to Aboriginals as land-rights. If the modern, civilised society that is Australia is so horrible, then why aren't Aboriginals rushing to reject everything that came as a result of colonialism and return to their traditional way of life?

This is a really good documentary- this should be shown more. Alot of Australians dont care or understand generational oppression - the racism they constantly encounter and families broken and mental health because of that let alone abuse. Its important to note that Aboriginal people are diverse like any population with regard to lifestyle, wealth, education and situation. Im glad there is more of an understanding today about Australia day as invasion day. The only solution is to move forward in a positive way. Forget the past., Noone can change what others have done. Preserve the remnant of Australian Indigenous people, before its too late. Encourage them to safely integrate into the society's that we all have to be a part of, black, white, red or green. Even cease to identify them as anything, other than just another Australian. They should just be recognized as Australians,. They are owed nothing, like all the rest of us are owed nothing. We all have to accept life for what it is and look to the future, not the past. Noone can deny the atrocities, but personal pain should not sum up a whole race of people. Young Aboriginal Australians want to conform to the New World and be part of its Blessings. The hardest thing is to let go of pain, but to let it go will set free, to invite life to give what it gives. Dont let the atrocities continue. Let go of the land and just be an Australian.

We’ve been here in Australia for 35 years and still experience blatant racism, especially the stigma put on us brown skin/dark skinned people. So I can ONLY imagine what our indigenous people would have been experiencing many centuries before us. It is still strong in AUSTRALIA, not only out in the cities but strongly in remote communities. 😔
The racism here is disgraceful. Sorry to hear you experience racism.

These are human beings...not animals...this is shamefull on so many levels.
Even animals such as cats and dogs get treated better than this, our society has a lot of it's priorities backwards sadly.
What's your solution

She refused to comply to extract the kids so they imprisoned her for 2 months before releasing her no charges... She thinks if her family did not push for her whereabouts she may never been released.

Murdoch: Trump, Cameron, Abbott

With all the hatred, with all the cruelty the Aborigines endured, their hearts are still pure, after all Nature has chosen the Aborigines to be the guardians of "The Dream World." I am a firm believer of karama🥺🥹🙏
I stated "they live like animals" because of what I saw in this documentary, I meant no disrespect to the Aborigines of Australia💗💞

Who cares.. The commenter is clearly impressed with the documentary and found it to be very thought-provoking.
Here are some additional thoughts on the documentary:
The documentary is well-researched and well-made.
I watched this video report for the second time and it shocked and appalled me even more.

Dont live in hardship out in the desert. Conform like we all must.
