I left high school in 2003 and was taught very little about the history of aborigines in my own country. I learnt more by working with and forming friendships with many aborigines in the min8ng industry. I used to fear aborigines because I grew up with parents in hospitality who had a lot of issues with aborigines but now I have a very strong admiration for their culture and who they are, very soulful and spiritual people with strong connection to country. I hope the younger generations realise how important their culture and customs are and learn them to carry them forward before this valuable information is lost.

This is typical of Labor and the Liberals. They treat the Australian public like fools. Albo is worst. He is misleading Australian people with a vote based on ethnicity. Anyone can practically claim to be Aboriginal because the Liebor party made it is for people to this. The Uluru Statement of whatever it was is totally misleading. Many Aboriginal people did not support it but a select chosen number of people were involved. The Voice is totally dishonest because it fails to explain the implications of its implementation. It is vague. How can anyone come up with this nonsense?

We’ve been here in Australia for 35 years and still experience blatant racism, especially the stigma put on us brown skin/dark skinned people. So I can ONLY imagine what our indigenous people would have been experiencing many centuries before us. Racism isn’t born, it IS BRED… by people who fear what they do not know and what they don’t WANT TO KNOW.. It is still strong in AUSTRALIA, not only out in the cities but strongly in remote communities. 😔

The racism here is disgraceful. Sorry to hear you experience racism.
The only city where it's a bit progressive and has less racism ( albeit , this does not mean NO racism) is Melbourne. My African and First Nations friends say this about living here in Melbourne, compared to Perth or Queensland.
I can't wait to leave Australia, it's a cold uncouth culture and it locks up asylum seekers, some have been locked up for 10 years. I don't know how they get away with it.

@@BCl-dn4gn Most Australians have seen this behaviour from Aboriginals in their day to day lives but it's never reported on in the media. The only racism ever shown is the few times a year a Caucasian person is recorded on a mobile being racist. The media want to portray it as only occurring from one demographic. Fortunately, we all have the right to vote here and Australians saw through the overwhelmingly biased media coverage during the referendum and voted NO to the racist Voice proposal.

We have gipsys minority in Slovakia. We are threading them terribly as society, according to my opinion. But we have at least admit and agreed the injustice of the past. Seeing the way in Australia.. If you come to doctor with trivial injury, you won't get help, you loose your health simply because the doctor know that you are not able to paint nice picture. His neighbour told him. I don't care about any score. I am not romas lover, simply because they are very good in attracting issues :). Hi, this was made 2013 the nation has been going through truth telling for a while the genocidal history is compulsory in our education , hence the shift in the nations conscious, what started off with a few 1000 non Indigenous protesting has evolved into over a 100 000 marching each invasion day ( Australia Day)

    • @Factchekka
      @Factchekka ปีที่แล้ว

@@annanudniduck They are all brain-washed, mindless lemmings who have been indoctrinated over almost 40 years from a young age. The vast majority of Australians love celebrating Australia Day and have not voted for this to be changed. Every year in Perth 300'000+ people turn out for the Skyworks celebration until last year when the local council decides it is not going to do it any more. This isn't because of public opinion, it's a small number of people forcing others to conform to their minority view of the world.
Question: Tell me, when you are marching in your protest rally, raging against the horrible outcomes of colonisation, do you ever think of the hypocrisy of doing that while you are wearing clothes and footwear, walking on a road between buildings, having driven there in you car, waving banners with written language on them, using public address systems that run on electricity, probably stopping off sometime during the day to buy instantly available food and water before using a flushing toilet to relieve yourself while recording everything on your mobile phone to share with the world on the internet to get validation? All of which you wouldn't be able to do if the culture that was here for tens of thousands of years continued into the present day unchanged. Just saying...

I was told by uncle of Abos being set up in a house - they made a camp fire in middle of lounge and were using bits of the house as wood- I was told this around 1979. I have a really good job in the mines that I definitely got preference over white fellas as I am local and indigenous to the area. Yet I still see other black fellas living in central Australia where I live also, living in poverty and not doing anything with their lives, what makes me different to them?? I know what happened in the past was terrible but white fellas that are in Australia today didn’t commit these atrocities, I believe I as a black fella I have more benefits than a white fella does. Imagine if white fellas never come to Australia I would have probably been out in the desert trying to survive, but instead I have bought a house and car and am doing really well for myself. Why are problems that aboriginals cause on themselves never mentioned, I and multiple friends and family have been raped and bashed since we were little kids, the violence that happens in a lot of aboriginal homes would blow majority of Australians minds, yet we sit here and talk about what happened in the past instead of trying to help those poor children living in those conditions TODAY. Most First Nations tribes weren’t consulted about it. Many don’t support it.
It’s more complex than it seems. First Nations people have never ceded sovereignty.
Due to illegal changes made to the Aust constitution in 1973, a vote for the Voice means that they will cede their sovereignty.
After surviving many genocides; wars; massacres; destruction of Country, culture, languages etc, having their sovereignty stolen from them via a sneaky referendum is quite despicable.

Aborigines have lived for thousands of years. Nature has always provided for them, they were given a gift "The Dream World." But nature could not protect them from the minds of the greed, and now they live like animals, lost in this morden matrial world, forgotten. Shunted aside, robbed, and belittled of their rich knowledge of nature and life. People of Australia call Aborigines a menace to society because they are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Substances that were forced upon them, so they can be easily controlled by the minds of the greed.
With all the hatred, with all the cruelty the Aborigines endured, their hearts are still pure, after all Nature has chosen the Aborigines to be the guardians of "The Dream World." I am a firm believer of karama🥺🥹🙏

The commenter is clearly impressed with the documentary and found it to be very thought-provoking. They were surprised to learn that such atrocities were still being committed in "1st" world countries, and they enjoyed the no-holds-barred journalism of John Pilger. The commenter also makes an interesting point about the aboriginal peoples' relationship to the land, arguing that just because they did not own it in the same way that Europeans did does not mean that they did not have a right to it.
I agree with the commenter that this is a very important documentary that everyone should see. It is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights, and it shines a light on the dark side of colonialism. I also appreciate the way that the documentary challenges our assumptions about the relationship between humans and the land. It is a timely and important film that everyone should watch.
Here are some additional thoughts on the documentary:
The documentary is well-researched and well-made. Pilger does a great job of presenting the facts in a clear and concise way, and he also does a good job of weaving in personal stories to bring the issue to life.
The documentary is very disturbing in some parts, but it is important to watch it because it shows the reality of what is happening to aboriginal peoples around the world.
The documentary is also hopeful in some parts, as it shows the resilience of the aboriginal peoples and their determination to fight for their rights.
Overall, I think this is a very important documentary that everyone should watch. It is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights, and it shines a light on the dark side of colonialism.

The only solution is to move forward in a positive way. Forget the past., Noone can change what others have done. Preserve the remnant of Australian Indigenous people, before its too late. Encourage them to safely integrate into the society's that we all have to be a part of, black, white, red or green. Even cease to identify them as anything, other than just another Australian. They should just be recognized as Australians,. They are owed nothing, like all the rest of us are owed nothing. We all have to accept life for what it is and look to the future, not the past. Noone can deny the atrocities, but personal pain should not sum up a whole race of people. Young Aboriginal Australians want to conform to the New World and be part of its Blessings. The hardest thing is to let go of pain, but to let it go will set free, to invite life to give what it gives. Dont let the atrocities continue. Let go of the land and just be an Australian. Dont live in hardship out in the desert. Conform like we all must. Aboriginal Australians should be Enjoying life, and i hope this is Encouragement to embrace change, to move into the New World. 🌎 Politicians are beside themselves. There's literally a ridiculous amount of privelidge afforded to them from free education and medicine to welfare and housing. How about them assuming some culpability for their impoverished estate?

@@Notoftheworld327you just mentioned things free and accessible to non indigenous people. The same basic services that Aboriginals never had and still don't have access too....did you not watch the facts of the documentary?

you take a load of building materials out there ready to build the next day ,and when the builders get there, the materials are either smashed or missing by daylight.

Yep, so you'd think people would realise after all these years, we can't make them like us, conform to our ways or GGF'd. What we are doing isn't working! Why are people so scared to let it change and maybe let them decide for themselves. The only reason to keep the status quo is if you want to continue with the white Australia policy and genocide by stealth...

Mud brick housing is a part of solution.. but the government cant exploit or make money from it.

So much respect for this presenter, and I agree with the man who said we need help from outside of Australia, the smirks and ignoring our rights and hating us to literal death needs to stop and never should have been a problem in the first place, when you come to or are born on other people's country you are a guest and you should treat the native people with respect regardless of how you think things should be

That this is occurring in this time and age is absolutely unbelievable!!!!! The original people here in the states don’t have it much better!!!! Until “we the people” stand up and together to demand this $hit stops right now, nothing will ever change!!!! It’s infuriating!!
    Cheers

To this day I have the deepest admiration and respect for the band Midnight Oil, who highlighted in song about these issues decades ago. The bureaucrats didn't want to know didn't want to hear, but us fans were educated like never before. A shout out to you Mr Peter Garrett!
