Maybe those dark brown greasy spoiled potato chips. I've watched about a dozen of Dust's latest offerings and they've all been dark and depressing not to mention predictable. All the films I viewed belong in a landfill.
You know what I didn't spot the past version of her already dead body to her left the first time I watched this. It was your comment I found that made me think ? I'm missing something here ?? I went back to the part where she falls and watched 3 time's before I spotted the skeleton in the same position as her while she was lay dying. If it wasn't for your comment I would have completely missed that part lol. 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
Yes. I was critical of the main character's actions, then considered her situation and how disorienting it must have felt to her. Humbling. I'd like to see more of this.
What a fascinating concept. I’d love to see this “time compression” idea explored even more. The visuals of the fore-men were insanely good. I’ve seen a lot of sci-fi, THIS is special.
Dystopian with a capital D. Sophia Walker did a great job with this character. And, the floating-ring redlight people were well imagined. This one is high quality and very original.
That final shot was absolutely gorgeous, and the design work on your Fore-Men was at the same time original and highly reminiscent of the plague doctors of medieval Europe. Cool movie.
This was one of the most scary short films I've seen. I'm mesmerized by it and terrified. This film must be entered into film festivals. A real winner here.
WOW. Props on the visuals throughout. The Fore-men looked amazing. The house with the nautilus fused to it? How disturbing and yet beautiful was that? I am agog at the quality of this movie. Great acting, storytelling, and I can't get over how the visuals are more intense than Hollywood blockbusters.
So the future "fore-men" excavated her fossilized bones and then compressed time to go back to see her as she died? Their "event" though caused massive disruptions to her current timeline before her death, even contributing to her demise in a way that wouldn't have happened without their "event" interfering.
This short shocked me hard because at the scene with deformed city I remembered I occasionally have been having those dreams where our planet starts to change in that way throughout my life. A lot of anomalies hapenning, objects and parts of regions of space combinging with each other, people having different rapid genetic mutations, encounters with diferent otherworldy creatures. And this short has an atmosphere of those dreams. Wow. Kudos to everybody who made this masterpiece. The amount of creativity shown here is beyond limits.
Really interesting concept, it almost seems like the Fore-Men are compressing/repeating time to achieve something in their favor. Their interest in modern humans makes me think they're trying to change, observe, or alter how humans will eventually evolve into them.
There were no modern Human, they were all dying off... I thing they were more interested in the History of the Planet in General. Maybe they were trying to find their missing link but their concern for humans was non-existent
@leonestello8519 i agree with this but im not so sure about them being concerned about their missing link. I like to think they were just paleontologists studying the past as well.
I don't know which was more cinematically impressive... the opening scene or the final shot. The story, the acting, the imagery, this film was just amazing.
At the very beginning when I saw the "smoke" coming out of the muzzle of a Crosman Vantage air powered pellet rifle, I thought, "Oh, okay....here we go. Another cheap student project." But I decided to give it a go anyway. I'm glad I did. Loved the acting, mood, sets and overall storyline. And that ending...damn, had me clicking back to watch it again. Fantastic!
This film was a totally unique concept which I believe was well executed. It left me wanting more. Time is not a straight line. For those of you who need some help understanding what happened the description explains the concept pretty well.
This is a sci-fi masterpiece! Original, the scope of the setting and design was just fantastic. The actors were wonderful, very believable in this chilling tale.
I really want to see more of this world. Would love to see a longer, expanded version of this. So much fertile ground here, so original, and so well done.
Yet another excellent short movie. So many talented writers, actors, directors and so on making these great shorts, while in Hollywood we mostly get sequels to 1970's movies.
What an excellent Sci-Fi short film! Supurb acting, and really original "Aliens"? The giant snails or ammonites, were a great touch. Thanks for aiming high.
Haha, the giant Ammonites really did exist that size, there’s one leaning against a wall or certainly did years ago near Lyme Regis in the UK that was the size of a mini, so they do get huge ✅ gigantism in pre history, what a time, but loving the concept of time observers, though travelling back in time is deemed scientifically impossible, so the concept is good but unless humanity finds a way, then the beings must be from another plane of reality to our own, another dimension ✅
Fun story.. but why was her decaying bodies in different location? She died and decomposed in one spot but it’s like she died in multiple places on the ground. Edit: wasn’t complaining, I think I personally missed something, I did rewind and rewatch that scene
I would for sure too. It is definitely the sort of short which downright demands to be developed further. It could be a great success. Sophia Walker is a great actor and she is exactly the type of person who can represent the complexity of endeavouring to understand that which is entirely alien to us,
Elements of "Annihilation" and "Death Stranding", come to mind,. Maybe also the "Last and First Men". Overall though this is a very good concept. I could see this idea being expanded on. Well done.
@@ecphorizerThere was a film made a few years back by Johann Johanson, based on the book.I learnt it about it then. The film is mostly imagery and instrumental music, but was also narrated by the actress Tilda Swinton. The trailers for it are on you-tube, and various clips and reviews. It might interest you.
Someone was heavily inspired by Stephen King's "The Langoliers." One of my favorite "time displacement" movies. Also... maybe, Ray Bradbury's "A Sound Of Thunder", several Twilight Zone Episodes, and perhaps even "The Butterfly Effect"... or even the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror.
I have more questions than answers after viewing this film. So she’s experiencing what Sally was experiencing at the beginning of the film. The past, present & the future coexist at the same time.

When the dude said he saw those humanoid figures with that stuff stinking out of them!!!! I think they were breathing equipment and scientific probe instruments!!!! They may have been aliens from another planet!!!! Doing a study of humans and other life forms that existed on our planet through out time!!!! I'm thinking these aliens brought the creatures to life to let them roam around for observation!!! I don't know!!!! Or maybe these aliens are terraforming !!!! 😮😮😮😮 OH dear!!!! I want to solve the mystery!!!! LOL!!!
This is where it's at people. Support these kind of indie works, this wuld be a banger of an opening scene for a movie.
Yeah yeah whatever.
You knew she had to be smart when she used the phone in landscape mode for the photo.

Always a bunch of negative people. Short low budget mind benders are great. They're so dependent on strong imaginations.
They really are
That final shot with her body decaying over time is crazy! 😱

In fact I have just noticed it's not just 1 body there is like a circle of her body laying there from different past times 👍🏻 I get it now 👍🏻👍🏻

I love the strangeness of encountering beings from distant times, past and future. This was so otherwordly.

The Fore-men reminded me of the Tech-Priests from WH 40,000K.
The beaked "plague doctor" mask is an invention of the Italian theatre in the late Renaissance. It's not medieval whatsoever.
