Every Wednesday Tim brings across a couple of cases of toys from his never ending collection for us to film. We often do not know in advance what he is going to bring. But recently Tim brought across a really eclectic mixture of toys: some vases, of which several were magic, and a few pneumatic or air powered toys. We had a lot of fun filming these!
Since we filmed these on a hot July afternoon, we put it down to a bit of midsummer madness!

The vase has a double-wall, and there is a small hole in the inner wall. Fill the vase with water, and gradually the space between the inner and outer wall will fill with water. You can then empty the vase, but after a few minutes, you will find there is more water in the vase. Water is slowly trickling from between the inner and out wall through the small hole, into the main vase.
No toys were killed during the making of this film. Apart from the last one.

it has a smaller vase in side with holes drilled into it so the water in the big case slowly poors into the smaller one

There's a tube extending down from the opening of the vase nearly to the bottom. When the vase is right way up, the water is able to get into the tube from the bottom. When he tips it up, the water that's in the tube pours out, but the rest is left around the tube inside the vase.
If it was just a smaller container full of holes inside a larger one, it would leak continuously instead of only letting a little out at a time.

I have an old pump-up plane that turns a propeller, and it sounds like a tiny internal-combustion engine. It's surprisingly powerful, and the casing is clear so you can see all the pistons!

Reminds me of an old technic kit I have, I think it was a Ferrari f40 that was partially cut to see the inner workings of the car all 12 cylinders “fired” and the suspension and transmission worked to iirc

For those wondering the nile vase was likely a siphen or double walled container that would refil the center of the vase to the same level as that in the wall once poured out.

No you cover up a hole in the side of the vase with your finger which only lets a little bit of water out so you just cover it up every time so you can pour a lot of times.

There is a ball inside of the vase, it gets stuck with the rope as he puts it upside down and pulls. then when he puts it up and presses the rope down the ball falls down and the rope can move.

Holly McCaskey The neck of the vase goes down almost all the way through, so some water is in the center but most is the in outside section. As he tips it the stuff in the inside is empties, and the outside is trapped. Once leveling it out, the water evenly distributes to the center. (after the first Pneumatic toy you can see the neck continue down as he pours)

I always loved wind up toys, and the fact someone has actually made a few pneumatic toys is just even cooler to me. I agree, anything air powered is actually quite neat. It's no wonder why I still love things like Air pressure Nerf blasters. The mechanics behind them are truly interesting stuff.
I really want Tomy to start making those pneumatic toys again. Electronic ones would be easier, but that just wouldn't be quite as cool.

Funny enough, I've actually just been coming here for asmr purposes.
When I was in kindergarten or first school we did a "School Circus". Some kids were lions. Some kids were acrobats. I was a magician. One of the tricks I did was the "Water from the Nile".
