Wow! This is the Holy grail! What became of this functionality? X-plane could really give MSFS a run for its money if this was available to the community!
I'm really intrigued by this "automatic patching" but I've not been able to find any further information about how to implement this. If someone knows I'd appreciate a heads up! Thanks!!
Hi Oscar, i posted this questions on the forums but as i'm new i need to wait for aproval so i'll paste them here if you don't mind: Hi Oscar, thank you for this amazing tool! But i came here because i have some questions about using Ortho4XP sceneries with OSM data, so here it goes: I have mainly one difficulty, now i have a combination of ortho4xp photoscenery and w2xp osm info, First question is i use now America and America Net to use roads etc.. both at the same time as i'm not building custom overlays in Ortho4XP would that be correct? So what happens is that if i use only w2xp (ortho disabled) i get the full buildings and object coverage (with objects to extreme) street by street but when i put the ortho4xp scenery below on scnery_config.ini, the right place for photo, only the roads, rivers, lines etc and some objects (3d osm i believe) remain... all the houses apartments etc are gone... From the start i had doubt if i needed to use w2xp since x-plane 10.50 should come with OSM built in, but after making the comparison it looks to me that w2xp has more detailed data (?), i don't know, the LR adding OSM to x-plane part kinda confused me. I tried to build a Custom Overlay from both the America and America Net folders but x-plane always gives me an error about some duplicated things or missing things depending on the combination of w2xp disables and which one i used for the custom overlays when i load the scenery inside the sim, so i don't know what the custom overlay step does.. Basically OSM is what i'm not understanding, so i know they are streets and roads and etc... data from open steet maps that's being used by x-plane autogen, so here is the things i tried based on that understanding: - What works now and is the situation described above is where i use Ortho4XP photoscenery, built without custom mesh, and without custom overlay, then w2xp sceneries (both Americas) on top so i have roads etc some buildings everything lines up perfectly but i dont have autogen buildings like cited - Tried Custom overlays like said, errors in x-plane - Tried building the mesh with HDMesh v3, gives me flat terrain and canyons on the tile borders with all combinations i tried: having HD mesh full area folder inside Custom Scenery and building mesh on ortho with and without selecting HDv3 mesh, and without the HD mesh intalled, but building pointing to the folder in another location. Another doubt, what OSM data is built when i click Build OSM on ortho? from what i gather so far its only borders, water and airports (?) it has anything to to with buildings and roads? And just for info i'm on Windows 10 using latest X-Plane stable, 10.51 i believe, and Ortho4XP devel version from you dropbox (tried with 119.py and bin version). Anyway i did all tests possible with scenery order and ortho4xp configs and it looks like i'm lacking knowledge to go forward on that so if you have any light on the subject i would really appreciate, Ortho4XP is really amazing. Cheers!!
W2XP Amerca has "smart exclusions", which means that OSM data being scarce there it leaves the place for lower order scenery to come through (in your case the HDv3 mesh). Since the HDv3 and Ortho4XP sceneries are mutually exclusive (only one scenery with mesh at a time), you need to grab the overlays (and not the mesh!) from HDv3 and put them in between W2XP and zOrtho4XP. To do so, indicate the HDv3 mesh in "Custom overlay" (the directory JUST ABOVE Earth nav data) and push the build overlays button. The newly created scenery is saved in yOrtho4XP_Overlays, just put it at the right height in Custom Scenery.
Just to make sure i got it right, i will do what you said pointing to the folder somewhere beacuse i don't intend to install it in x-plane, and the tile i'll do it was already made by building the mesh from the default config (downloading from the internet), i can just build the custom overlay on top of it and place the y_overlay folder on custom scenery, correct?
I don't know if i'm confusing things more but are you assuming i'm using or want to use HDv3 mesh? Because i don't, it will really impact my fps, i buit the tiles downloading the mesh data just clicking on the build mesh button without checking custom. And what i said i'm using now (with ortho = no buildings and without ortho = lots of w2xp buildings) doesnt have HDv3 mesh installed. I hope i cleared it up. I can install HDv3 mesh and use it if needed, i dont know if the one downloaded by ortho is less expensive on FPS.

Ok Oscar, Thanks, will try this now.

How did you get the runway slopes to work?
