I laughed entirely too much at this video. Definitely seemed drunk but as a dad myself with so many things going on sometimes you just get caught in a whirlwind and look delirious and it’s happened to me and that’s what I see here. Loved it.

Not a dad but I have definitely been the same exact way when I used to smoke that “devil’s lettuce” (no shade whatsoever) but I can see some similarities that I also laughed a little too much at 😆

Speaking of Montana Knife Company, I splurged on a Speedgoat when they had them in stock. I freaking love it. Light as a feather and sharp as a razor blade out the box. If you want a knife that creates some connection I highly recommend it.

Dude, your ramblings about your knives descrives how I feel with mine. Playing around with my knives brings satisfaction and justification why I got them.

I like to imagine that Mike carefully changes diapers using a fixed-blade knife, just to perfect bushcraft skills.

being from Canada, there's not much in term of knife brand, but while road tripping in Nova Scotia I stopped at the Grohmann knife factory and grabbed myself their #3 ''jump knife'' model. The same knife they issued to the Canadian Air Force until recently. Man I love that knife!! Nothing fancy about the materials, simply a beautiful knife made with pride in my country.

The ESEE 3 in S35VN with 3D scales is my every day when working knife. At home I usually carry the Shaman or Para #2 with a gun and flashlight. These choices evolved over time. That said I love most of my fixed blades. On any given day I will be carrying one of my Becker’s, larger ESEE’s, smaller Benchmade, and even a Lions Steel T5.

This video helped me get over trying to find the perfect one even if I didn’t have that emotional connection. I feel like I can look at knives and enjoy them because of that connection. Love your content as always. Ramble away it is why I am here.

I’ve carried two Bradford Guardian 3.5s for five years as EDC knives, I’ve made kydex sheaths for them that I carry horizontal at 12 o’clock. The version with the M390 steel has been my favorite, the blade feels great even though it’s a little thick for food prep it’s been my go to and I love it, also had a third which was my first that I lost but liked it enough to buy the two I have now

Great video--I love the knife content. You can lightly sand the carbon scales on the Spyderco Proficient to make the handle less slippery. Also, the Taichung factory is Spyderco's best manufacturing facility. Most of their higher end knives are produced there. The tolerances/finishes and overall quality are higher when produced there.

Lionsteel has it down. I have a T5, a T7 and a B 30. They all feel great in the hand, fit and finish are beautiful. Out of all my (way, way too many) fixed blades those three are probably the only ones I would immediately replace if I lost them. I'm like you, never returned a blade even the ones that make me go "Meh"
    Great video 👍

I know it's not a fixed blade, but my favorite knife I have ever put in my hands is still my ZT0095, for this exact reason. Something about that knife makes me feel something! I love it in my hands, forehand or backhand, love the craftsmanship, everything. I wish I could find a fixed blade that could make me feel the same way. I'll try some of these and see if they fit my fix. Thanks man!

I agree, the M4 has that appeal, I’m older and can tell you having “Played” with knives since the 70’s I think I know why, for me anyway. It reminds me of a 70’s knife, the blade shape and handle is similar to one I had back then. Simple and traditional. I too have made many purchases and was disappointed but hold onto the knives anyway. My favorite large fixed blade is a Survive knives G.S.O. 5 in 3V steel, the 5.1 in Magnacut a close second. But the M4 makes a great knife to hike with.

Your feelings are COMPLETELY understandable. Knives are the blend of engineering and art. Good design evokes feeling. That's why people are drawn to certain automobiles, guns or architecture. I share your feelings for the Lionsteel M4. Also, I have strong feelings for their M2M and L.T. Wright's GP Medium (for similar reasons).

I also keep a “truck lighter” in each vehicle (I only own trucks/suvs). As well as eating utensils and other items I deem necessary to always have “just in case”. Like a complete change of clothes ie., pants, under roos, socks, long sleeve shirt, and a complete thermal layer) this I never have to worry about changing out for season. You can where jeans in the summer, sleeves can be rolled up if need be. These items are “aside” from my “Go Bag”, and EDC. So they are ALWAYS there regardless. Like several emergency blankets (cause they a cheap and take no space) and an actual blanket. A blanket can yes keep you warm, but it can also shield/shade you from the sun. Critical items that be used “anytime” of the year, that may save my life or other lives. Items that regardless of the load out in my Go Bag or my EDC “I KNOW” are always in my vehicle which ever one I’m in I have available to me!

I EDC a fixed blade myself that can double as a survival knife. It's pretty cheap to be honest, it came with a pretty crappy plastic leg sheath that I don't use. It actually fits into an old nylon UST sheath I had but lost the knife for. It's got a 4-5" blade and made of basic stainless steel. Keeps an edge fairly well for what it is and it's easy to sharpen. I use a carabiner clip through the belt loop to hang it from my belt loops or anywhere I can clip it to. When I get into the woods, I switch it out for my camp knife on my belt and it gets set aside for things like food prep. I love my fixed blade knives, but I should get around to finding my pocket knives again. I can't remember where I ended up putting them.

I completely agree with the pr4. I did however buy the tkc g10 green with red inserts handle, kydex sheath with leather dangler. I personally love the shape. It's mainly a bushcraft knife and that's pretty much what I use it for.

    • @alaskabornheathen8902
      @alaskabornheathen8902 ปีที่แล้ว

I don’t know which Mora you had there but it looked like it sucked. You gotta go with a companion. The shape of the handle is much better and has some rubber over molds. It’s really a nice blade for 15 bucks or so. I used to be skeptical but they feel great in the hand and I’ve seen people stab them into a tree and stand on the handle. They aren’t full tang so they shouldn’t be able to do that. As long as you get a stainless steel model it will serve you well. Put it in a bag and forget about it.

the Becker BK-18 is one that makes me feel something. same handle as your BK16, but a taller blade. it seems best for food prep or combat, and is barely small/light enough to do some whittling. the micarta scales really make it comfortable. i think it would be way more popular if it was 2 inches shorter.

Those knives are all good, and you have a couple of real nice ones. I only wear a fixed blade, so I liked what you had to say. I have 4 fixed blades, and 1folder. I have been EDCing a WINKLER Crusher Belt knife with rubber handles for almost 2 years. I love it . It is perfect for all of my knife tasks, but my wife purchased me a new fixed blade. It is a Scallywag Tactical and TOOR knives collaboration knife called the MUTINY. It is Cannon Black, and Scallywag designed it, and TOOR knives manufactured it. I love collaborations. This is my perfect sized EDC knife. I think it is pretty cool that it doesn’t have a lanyard hole. It is a Pirate themed EDC knife with a 4 inch blade. I really like the sheath. It was very expensive! $350.00 plus tax. My WINKLER was $292.50 with my Military discount, and that is a Crusher Belt Knife with rubber handles. I can’t say anything bad about the WINKLER or the TOOR. Good luck in your knife adventures! Please make more cool videos!!!!

Yes I agree Mike, “playing w knives”. I have the skills to “survive” or “bushcraft” but I don’t want to… if the time comes that those skills become NECESSARY then I have the skills and knowledge. But it’s NOT something I want to do just for “fun”. Like using a bow drill to start a fire… I “know how” have the “skills” to do it, but sorry I’m USING a lighter if at all possible! If circumstances force me to use a fero rod or bow drill then I’m grateful for the knowledge and skill… otherwise no thank you.
