This one definitely came better than mine did. Mine needed a lot of modifications to be a good knife. I will say, I all but guarantee that handle is gonna give you issues. I had to put a whole new handle on mine.

I been thinking about one of these, but I have a couple field and stream Bowie that I have carried the past 10 years. I use them for chopping copper wire, fiberglass, plastics, cutting down small trees. The Field and Stream has a 3/16 + thick blade. It works well for a small hatchet too. 🌳. I don't think that the old timer would be my daily carry blade but it would surely make a great Sunday going to Church blade.
I confess, I live in Idaho, way up in the mountains, a good knife 🔪 is a must have at all times.

Used to love all the schrade cutlery, old timer, schrade, and uncle henry, when they went to china I wrote them off. Wish i still had some of my old timer, and uncle henry knives from when you could still get schrade++/+++ metal and they were made to be used and could easily last a lifetime. I'm 56 now and it's really sad to see what were once great American manufacturers, now turning out Chinese cheaply made through away knives.

I bought a sharp finger couple years ago and I can agree. China ruined this company. Who would've thought....

If it's an oldtimer,Its the best.At least when I was a kid(I'm 35 now).A small high carbon steel oldtimer pocket knife. had as a child.Never lost its edge.

Unfortunately, most if not all Old Timer and Uncle Henry knives are made in China, and I've owned a few of them and they all were lacking in some area or another. You're better off buying Buck.

I got this set as a gift. I used them this last hunting season ('22-'23). The bowie makes a great trail blazer for marking trees, stayed sharp. I put a 25-ish degree sharpening on it and the mini sodbuster. The mini I edc-ed for about 8 months and it worked fine. I used it to trace a pattern on a semi truck mudflap, not designed for that. The flap was dirty and it needed a good sharpening afterwards. I found out that it fits into the handle of my harbour freight stainless survival knife and that's where I am keeping it. I'll hunt again with the large bowie thus next year. It's for light to medium light work due to its thinness.

Luv the old school retro beginning. Huge fan of Quinton Tarratino. And Robert Rodrigous.

For a cheap bowie/machete, i can recommend Marbles Jungle Bowie. It is a project blade, remove the orange, sand the handle to your fit, nice mustard patina, and some shapening. it's a winner. Takes a great edge. Good for path clearing and small chopping. With the shape back swedge, it works good for hacking

Makes for a great kitchen butcher / food prep knife. Great for cutting watermelons and large squash. Seriously.

Good light duty knife. Camp kitchen.Batoning some cedar kindling. Wounder if a hardening of the blade would be worth trying.Heat up the edge and oil quench.I have one in my collection but have not used it much.Bringing it to the hunting camp this fall so we will see how it holds up. Payed about thirty bucks in Canadian dollars. Thank you for taking the time for the demo.

I bought the same knife at the same store! Lol.
I like it. It's too light and thin to be a real chopper which is a shame because its shape is great for that.
I use it for cutting Y branches and light Bush craft while fishing the Welland River.
    Peace

the key to batoning is a big heavy baton ! the steel hardly matters ,what natter is the heat treatment , quench and temper to 56-60 hardness ! you seem to have bought the lie hype about steel ! thin and light to carry without notice ! you can get another cheap ! I have one and it is a good cheap knife that you can beat without worry ,buy 2 and modify and beat the other if it break who cares! you never said camp kitchen or even home kitchen knife !
you should try the m-tech 151 ( stianless cold steel trial master )! I bought one with a custom kydex sheath for like $80,0 ,the m-tech151 costs like $20,00 ! I pound tent stakes in with the side of the blade !the come with a crap sheath but the knife is great!

You should take a look at the U.S. Marines M9 fighting knife M906MA8 made in the U.S.A. It makes the Bowie knife look like a Pimple //////

I'm curious, do you honestly know what a Bowie Knife is used for ? Do you know the difference between steels ? Do you understand that a Bowie Knife is a fighting / hunting blade and not a bushcraft Knife ? I don't think you really know the difference between steels, and you are not qualified to say that 1 steel is cheap compared to others.

Buy Tops knives. Expensive, but your great grand children will be using the same knife then pass it on to their grandchildren. Remember, TOPS KNIVES. THE ONE AND ONLY KNIFE OF SEVERAL LIFE TIMES

With all do respect young man. But please learn about different knife styles and intended use. Of course you can use your own knives anyway you like. But please don't give bad information to your audience . For example , the Bowie knife was never intended to be used the way you just abused it. Its intent was a fighting knife. Anyway , keep the videos coming and mostly, have a blessed day.

I don't even remember what I said, but I do understand that the Bowie knife was designed for fighting.
Here's my question for you: Who, in this day and age, am I going to fight with a Bowie knife without going to Jail just for testing on a video?

Myself, living in Texas, we're allowed to carry one for self defense. I personally wouldn't, but believe it or not, there are people that do. Mine are mostly conversation pieces.
