@@7elche That is debatable. It depends on a number of factors, the type of server, how well hidden it is, luck. Also in the recent patches it takes a much lager amount of shots or explosives to destroy a wall compered to how it used to be. You could argue thought that it is easy to break into a base with the right preparation so I see both sides of the coin. I still think it is worth it if you want something else to do in DayZ.
Putting barbed wire ontop of your open walls really helps because players can jump ontop of eachother and get in really easy if you only have walls with no barbed wires. With the barbed wires they at least get lots of cuts :)

My advise is to just put a hidden tent deep in the woods. It's way to easy to raid bases. You can have several airlock, experienced raiders will still get in.
Tents and buried stashes are always a good idea. I like to do a mix, have some tent/stashes and then start making a little base. I feel ya though on your point for sure.

Yep so to break into a base, they will have to destroy your walls, or find a way to jump over them and attack them from the "soft side" which is the inside. In general, if a person where to attack your base wall it would take a lot of bullets to get in, like I am talking enough to take a pristine gun to ruined several times. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but grenades do a lot of damage to walls but still takes multiple to get a wall down. Yes if you want extra protection, doubling the wall count helps a lot. Walls can be weak to a whole squad though, so picture 5 dudes all unloading tons of ammo into a wall, they'll be able to get in. Solo or Duo's it'll take a decent amount of time if they really want to get in, but it'll cost them.

I play in a community PVE server with base destruction turned off. This is on console. I had a base like this and it was still raided. I was using the airlock method for my walls. And they still got through. We had so many people’s bases raided within that week. They wouldn’t even take anything. They dump everything on the floor and blow it up with grenades. They destroy the players cars, they will empty the tents and turn the tents around to where it’s facing the wall making it inaccessible. They do this knowing they will be banned. It continues to happen in our server.
That is lame sorry to hear that. I have heard of people doing tricky things like using a car tent, climbing on the tent, then jumping over the walls. Maybe barbed wire along the top would help, but it seems if someone is really determined to jump a wall, eventually they may get in. I am not sure how much you can tweak loot on consoles, but maybe if you turned off certain items that allow people to boost it would help.

That is kind of a knowledge that comes with playing more. But let me give you a recommendation. Goto the website izurvive.com and take a screenshot of the map. Mark in paint where your base is. Then when you die, try your best to follow the map back to your base.
Looking to make a simple gated garage base, but then wanted to transfer to a free stand. I was just wondering where’s a good spot for the free standing one and also how tall can you make the walls?
It's tough to recommend. But what you want to keep in mind is ways people cut across the map sometimes if they are going from spawn to the North West. I believe currently the only way to go 2 walls high is you make the base entirely out of watchtowers kits. Check out Izurvive an online map, then look at the wooded areas and sort of imagine which would get the least traffic. On a populated server no base lasts forever, its more a matter of which will last the longest.

Hmm that shouldn't happen. Is it modded at all? Make sure the types xml file is good, you can run it through an XML checker. If there are any problems with the types file things will get weird.

In vanilla, you can build most places, but it can sometimes be tricky to build on hills. Also some houses can be tricky to block off the doors and windows.
Hey man its me again, does my stuff despawn if i put it in wood boxes? I just built a base in a barn and want to know if i leave stuff on the ground and in boxes will it despawn?
If it's not in any type of container, yes it will slowly decay, so like go worn, damaged, badly damaged, despawn. But if its in a container it will have whichever lifespan that container has, so for example a wooden crate you build with wood and nails, will last about 40 days. Interacting with items will reset their de spawn timer. Building a flag pole will interact and refresh the timer on all items in it's radius.
@@myles9452 Nope a flag poll is optional. It just makes it an easy 1 click to fresh the timer on everything. You can just go around and touch things manually as well.
If you can't find rope, you can also craft it by combing 6 Rags + 6 Rags, or Guts+Knife. Planks can be made by sawing up Wooden Logs or sometimes actually stacks of planks can be found in industrial areas (Rare).
Is there a way to not have that small hatch in the roof when building using watchtower kit Nitno ? I want to know this to be able to create a secure airlock
Open up Izurvive and in the top right, turn all filters off, then put just Planks on. Typically they are in the industrial areas that look like they could be saw mills or have cargo.
Some people in DayZ will try to recruit people who don't know how to build and treat them like shit because they think they'll put up with it, that they won't just look up on TH-cam "how to build" last time I ran into people like that, I gained their trust and raided them the following night while they were asleep.
I'm trying to build my first base right now. Playing solo so going for a fortified shed/garage. It takes a lot of time. And it's really disheartening when you find the tools but get killed on the way to your location. At least now I got things stashed away and a fence kit in place. If I reconnect to the server next time and discover they found my cammo tent in the woods with all my stuff I'm going to be heart broken lmao
Good luck out there. It can be rough. Check out some of my other base building videos, I've got other ideas to try out. Yes making frequent buried stashes can be a good way to store tools and nails till you are ready.
I guess ai can't put a fence kit down on something that isn't dirt can I? I can't seem to "place" down a fence kit on a stone floor, and I play on console EDIT : Nevermind I just have to aim it further away from me i guess 😂😂😂 but I guess you can still give me a tip or two
Yeah placing fence kits can be odd... some places just won't let you build even though it looks like you should. Just about any flat surface with enough space SHOULD allow you to build.

It really depends on what you are looking to get out of base building. Everyone is different. Some people enjoy having a place to call home even with all the risks involved. Others may find it pointless as, yes, people can break into your base if they have enough explosives and time on their hands. All up to how you personally feel about it.
@@Nitno well I did love the idea of having a base but they are pointless if other players can so easily destroy it and so quickly. I would play and build a base if the bases were worth building so unless they fix base raiding or at least make building more complex than just a fence, gate and watch tower, better reinforcements or ways of protecting your base when you are not even online

Ahhh let me see. Each level of roof is 20 nails, each level of stairs is 18 nails. Each wall base is 5 nails. Each wall Paneling is 5 nails.

You have to spawn on the coast again and run back. The only exception are modded servers that have a sleeping bag respawn mod.

If you don't know your lock numbers, you'll need to destroy the walls.

Yep it should. I'd recommend making a flag pole to keep your items nearby persistent for longer.
Step 1: Gather base materials.
Step 2: Choose suitable location.
Step 3: Build base.
Step 4: Get raided.
Step 5: Quit playing DayZ.

45 days, each time you interact with them, the timer extends. Adding a flag poll will allow you to interact and refresh all objects when raised.

If you were honest you’d make new players aware that basebuilding is completely pointless
It really depends on what you are looking to get out of base building. Everyone is different. Some people enjoy having a place to call home even with all the risks involved. Others may find it pointless as, yes, people can break into your base if they have enough explosives and time on their hands. All up to how you personally feel about it.
@@Nitno well I did love the idea of having a base but they are pointless if other players can so easily destroy it and so quickly. I would play and build a base if the bases were worth building so unless they fix base raiding or at least make building more complex than just a fence, gate and watch tower, better reinforcements or ways of protecting your base when you are not even online
I feel ya, DayZ base building could use some love for sure. Adopting some Rust elements would be real nice.
@@Nitno the reason I liked DayZ so much is that it has the same elements as fallout 4. If they used some of their ideas DayZ would be incredible.
