I am an older guitar player started playing when I was about 30 and I’m not great at it, but there are several songs that I would love to be able to play, but I don’t have the dexterity in my fingers much anymore. I’ve been searching for a way to play this for a long time. This will definitely give me what I’m looking for. I just play in the basement for nobody else, but myself, but it’s nice to be able to play a song that you love thank you so much for putting this out there.

Since I was a teenager I've always loved the way this song feels, largely because of the atypical use of waltz time. It's a great way to break up the monotony of regular 4/4 or 2/4 time signatures in a song set. I appreciate the open tuning, non-capo version as it keeps my baritone voice from having flip between full voice and falsetto. Thank you, Dave. I love your method.

Great video, because barre chords on an acoustic? What other ways are there to torture your left hand and its fingers? Eh, a classic set of chords in that intro (G, C, D... which the Eagles also used in "Already Gone" and probably many others). And love that walking bass line from the G to the C and back. Who was it that said "All you need is three chords and the truth"? Also, shows how much popular music songs "borrow" from each other. Like "Lean On Me," for instance. ;-)

Can I ask you a question please I learned this song by watching your video. Because friends had requested that I play it. So I did a cover of it on TH-cam. And it went up to 24 000 views in a week then I got a copyright strike by a company that’s supposed to own the song ?? How’s that ? When there’s loads of covers of this song on here. Do you know why that would be ?

The main reason I think is that Don Henly from the Eagles doesnt want anyone covering or teaching or playing his music - so any Eagles or Henly music is subject to warnings or strikes - it really sucks. That is why I do not do any Eagles or Henly music anymore - I just have the old stuff out there. There is lots of covers like u said, but the most viewed and popular stuff is under the lights so it gets hit by the copyright issues - like yours did. You just have to stay away from Eagles music as far as teaching or posting covers. And thank u for checking out this lesson - most appreciated. I wish you never do strum up down its more about timing on your chord

I'm very disappointed. The first part upto ending the first verse and about to start the chorus, this turorial became very confusing. Sad. Up to this point I would give 5 stars.
In the first verse he talked through the chord changes for the first verse. Great. Can someone give the time index when he does this to the FIRST chorus? Thanks.
Hi - the chorus 1 breakdown explanation starts at 10:41 - hope u enjoy the lesson - some of the changes with the 3/4 time and with the walking bass lines can get a tad confusing so I wrote them out on screen and like always I add the strum patterns and real time chord changing - the verses have a lot of changes so let me know which part you found confusing and I can try and clear things up. Simplify how to play it, without long explanation to beginners. Man, too much talking. Not everyone can take in that much explanation on chords lol sheesh, I barely stayed to learn , over filling the cup here haha
