Im really happy for Tatoh, considering he has been a consistent top 8 player for years. Specially in team tournaments, where he has been the backbone of the Tyrant/GL team. He deserves the title.
I wonder if they will still give him the role of the "troublemaker" in the next team game tournament? Considering what an amazing player he has become almost feels like it would be a waste of talent!
All the GL lads are extremely likable, entertaining and great. You couldn't have a better bunch of lads at the top. You'd think in age of empires the top would be all robotic, unsociable etc lol but these guys are just such great characters we are really blessed as a community to have them tbh
@@MasmorraAoE I think it's the Lord's doing! DAUTSLIDE DAUTSLIDE DAUTSLIDE DAUTSLIDE But seriously: I don't think it's age, I think it's good character. Somehow aoe2 players are almost universally nice. Also younger ones. Maybe only nice people can enjoy a game that is now almost 25 years old? Maybe the medieval theme attracts more 'wise' people?
Tatoh wining is great because even if you love Vipy it is very boring for a game/sport to have an undisputed number one player, challengers coming to take every chance they have is always great. Thanks for the interview, you uploaded two vids so close to each other, it is very nice ^^ Hope you start getting more and more recognition soon o/
Thanks for the shoutout! Enjoying your content too. Obviously, I'll take all the credit for Tatitohs big success by making him aware of his real strength so that he was able to get a 5:0 in his matchpoints in Legacy! 11
Absolutely well deserved shoutout! I am enjoying your Reddit posts and comments a lot, too, since you are knowledgeable and have a pretty nice sense of humour! Keep it up mate! Also congratz on winning the A2G League ;)
@@Umdeuter I totally agree with Dustin btw. I'm always happy when I see a Umdeuter post or comment, especially as you're yourself a v good player (aka knowledgeable). 🙂
The section about team games is super interesting. I remember Viper saying that Tatoh is a player who is always ready to sacrifice himself for the team and go for the shenanigans like weird tower rushes and stuff. His strategic approach really makes them more interesting, compared to games with pure crossbow + knights vs crossbow + knights. Also I love the way he views the game in general, always ready to surprise his opponent (and the viewers).
Yeah I was wondering if that will still be the case?` I mean considering what an accomplished player he has become, it almost feels like a waste of talent to give that role, right?
@@MasmorraAoE Maybe... But I also think that maybe Tatohs skillset fits that role better then maybe Viper for example who seems to be always the pocket player for GL. Having a player that can do both should also be an advantage... I guess we will see about that in the next bigger team game event. I'm looking forward to it.
Another great content: interesting questions, and such amazing answers and views about strategy and the competitive scene. You’ve done a great job here, Nélson 👏👏👏
Grande Tatitoh! It's really wholesome that there isn't a toxic trait between top players and even when they lose or can't be at a tournament like Vinchester they still support and help each other to create strategies and have the best competition possible, the community is just incredible. Tatoh's team games are the best, it's great to see "the pro approach" to them because many of us mainly play on team rather than 1v1 ranked so it's great to have his perspective in different situations, helps a lot to improve. Great interview! :D
Tatoh was definitely the rep for the "HD noobs" like myself back in the day 11. Cool to see him have good success. Had some fun playing in community games with and against him back in the day.
man i remember the good old HD 4v4 MegaRandoms. i think i was actually one of the first people to recognize Tatoh in HD lobbies, from his performance in Voobly tournament streams of the SLU 2v2 tournament (think this was a year or so before his MR lobbies and streams).
Can't beleive it I just asked for this in the last video!! Thank you so much once again, you're amazing Masmorra. The interview is very good, as always.
Great interview! Super cool to hear from tatoh about his approach to the game. I agree that team games are more fun to play, and in many cases more fun to watch as well. Hopefully more team game tournaments will continue, like the 2v2 world cup. I think a t90 video from the 2018 2v2wc was the game that got me back into aoe.
Thanks for bring this interview Nelson. My favourite player deserved one finally ^^ I hope your next interview will be even better, if that is possible.
I agree 100% with tatoh about the team games and slinging. I miss war is coming, such amazing depth to the game with sling, but it needs to be balanced and an active choice, not every game.
Interesting to hear TaToH say that he thinks there's much less strategy in Empire Wars, when he is recognised as a great strategist and has just won a massive Empire Wars Tournament. Hopefully that means he's confident for future RM tournaments!
Why nobody talked about the Master of Megarandom :D ? That wonder victory in a tournament final (vs Slam, Korean vs Japs on highland, perhaps they missed to set a conquest victory?) was amazing. made me realise how versatile a player and AoE can be. It was then, I started counting Tatoh in the same league as Viper and Daut. With his out of the box strats, Tati is one of my fav players to watch. GL HF Tatoh!
Thanks for the interview Nelson! Great job. I was just thinking... why were on the podcast all of the GL members (besides Slam) but not a single one of AM guys? I would love to know more about them.
Would you please consider bringing in Slam? Hes a such a great guy who doesnt get as much exposure as the other GL members, however his takes could reveal a lot about GL as a whole! His gameplay is also extremly unique, as there are not many 2,3+k players who spam 4v4Black forest...so maybe some question around clown meta? Thanks for considering it, Slam deserves the screen time!
Once you understand that every word starting with "st" is in fact starting with "est" in Tatoh's mouth it is much easier to understand : "strong" -> "estrong", "study" -> "estudy".

I think it certainly has a lot to do with the fact that most pros in AoE tend to be older than in other games!

This was a great interview Nelson. Only wish you had asked if TaToh's math background helped him in the game in anyway :)
Good call!

Slinging makes games entertaining, thats for sure!
I was surprised that TaToH thinks its somewhat balanced in DE!

I think what he meant was that Random Map has a wider array of viable strategic options and not necessarily that strategy plays less of role in EW.
