  • I’m Jeff Johnston for “Rollin’ On TV.” When we started to spec out our new Palomino camper, filling out all the blanks on the ordering sheet, we knew that there were a few items we could improve on that normally come from the factory. Item number one on our list was the furnace. And in this case, the new Truma VarioHeat furnace is a high-tech alternative to the factory equipment. The only thing that gives you a clue on the outside that there’s something different going on is the combined air intake and exhaust port. And it’s made out of plastic; part of it is, anyway. And the reason they can do that is because it’s a testimony to the VarioHeat’s efficiency. Most of the heat is going inside the living space where it belongs; very little of the combustion heat is coming out through the exhaust. Read the rest here - rollinontv.com/truma-variohea...

it would be great if Truma went after the after-market furnaces like people like me that hate what the factory shut me with, pretty much like they did with the Truma water heaters

I am considering swapping out my traditional furnace for this heater in my truck camper. How has the trump unit performed? Would you do anything different?

I notice the temp sensor in your truck is about mid point height in the cabin and below the height of your beds. Does it work ok there or does it shut off the heater too early. The Truma manual says to put it high in the cabin but see that's not possible in your vehicle.

      You Actually have it Backwards.
Heat Rises, The Higher you Place the Sensor, the Sooner it will Shutdown..

@@erskftv6160 yes aware heat rises - reason I couldn't make sense of Truma's instructions which say to mount it high in the cabin. ?

Do they offer an aftermarket upgrade?

@Richard Riley I would like to replace my dometic with this more efficient furnace.

32 degrees F or 0 degrees Centigrade is nothing. Barely worth putting a heater on for. Clearly the Truma doesn’t do very well in proper cold temperatures or they would have done it.

Worthless comment based on pure assumption. Your logic is that because they didn't run a test at a temperature that is cold to you, then it must be because it would perform poorly. Pure assumption. Are you a child? Do you walk in your life viewing the world through assumptions without looking for fact? Or do you have a real world experience to share? Your experience or someone else's where the performance of this unit was lacking in temperatures you consider valid? Like you I'll make some assumptions. I'll "assume" you don't have any such information. I'll also assume you are an idiot, until of course something proves me incorrect. Clearly.
