BxMxC is such a heavy song and Su-metal sounded fantasic as always and she absolutely nailed the lyrics.

Teki means "enemy" in Japanese. But Teki-na is also a play on words in Japanese (this song is filled with word play and double meanings) where it also roughly means some challenger, random opponent, etc.
Anyway, great reaction as usual.
Right, teki can be "opponent", while teki-na means "like" or "-ish", so the repeated line _Tekina Metal Cypher_ means "[this is] like a metal cypher" - and the lyrics describe what one might be like. Meanwhile teki / teki-na also works for the opponent in the vs. battles.

I always love how people keep saying "oh yeah babymetal's lyrics are really simple" when it's almost impossible to translate because everything is a play on words.
PAPAYA is a great example of this. Lyrically there is a lot of play on words. But to me it's just "have this papaya and he happy". Which is good as well
Great comment! I knew that _teki_ ( 敵 ) is used for "enemy" or "opponent" but for whatever reason it didn't click for me until I read this. Also thanks to Shoe Metal for chiming in and giving additional info on the other use of _teki_ ( 的 ) to mean "like" or "-ish". Great stuff!!

The lyrics are mixed Japanese and English words and phrases. But here's the thing, it's almost entirely a play on words and Japanese slang. The opening lyric, "Sore na, sore na!?" is a Japanese slang used by young generation equivalent to an English "What, what?" taunt to investigate a fight. The "Teki-Na" (敵な), tekina (的な)
/ "teki-shi"
(敵し)
is also a play on words, one meaning "enemy" the other meaning "same as/alike as/typical".
"Waku waku"
(わくわく) means being over excited or agitated, but it's also used in English slang as "Wack", as in something is wack. There's a lot to this song.

"BxMxC" is pretty much officially meaning "BABYMETAL Cypher", but most fans call it "Bring Moa Chicken" because she is a huge foodie and talks about it constantly, even when it's not part of the conversation.
Moa's favorite thing about any location? Food.
If i was as thin as she is i'd be hungry too.

I don't even want to know the workout regiment she and Su have to stay on during all this to not pack on weight because they're used to eating like 4,000 calories a day or more from their normal routine!
It is fun to call it Bring Moa Chicken, specially when it appears they chant Wasabi after the Wanna Be. 🤪 we know Moa likes spicy foods.

A CYPHER or CIPHER is an informal gathering of rappers, beatboxers, and/or breakdancers in a circle, in order to jam musically together. The term has also in recent years come to mean the crowd which forms around freestyle battles, consisting of spectators and onlookers. This group serves partly to encourage competition and partly to enhance the communal aspect of rap battles. The cipher is known for “making or breaking reputations in the hip hop community; if you are able to step into the cipher and tell your story, demonstrating your uniqueness, you might be more accepted”. These groups also serve as a way for messages about hip hop styles and knowledge to be spread, through word-of-mouth and encouraging trends in other battles.

We haven't had one like this since 'Karate' in 2016, unless you count the brief appearance of Su and Moa at the end of the video for 'Starlight' in 2018.
The lyrics say "Tekina Metaru Saifa" (Like a Metal Cypher), so "BABY METAL Cypher" is the most likely explanation for the song title.
As other folks have pointed out, "teki" can be translated as "enemy" or "target", so there's at least a double meaning there.
I understand why this was a Japan exclusive for a year, but I'm glad it's been released internationally now.
You can even order it on vinyl if you want to do some scratching.

Just a little example: When they were just 16 (Su-Metal) and 15 (Moametal and Yuimetal) they had their first overseas METAL festival (not a pop festival, a freaking Metal festival!). Imaging being a japanese teen girl, facing 50k+ metal heads, singing in a different language, wearing pigtails and tutus! and.....rocked them all!!!!

@@jacobprince146 - I doubt it was 10 years. How did you know about Babymetal in 2010? Their first song wasn't released until spring 2011 and the music video a year later. They were almost unknown outside japan until 2014. I didn't know they existed until a year ago.
