YoshiP was giving a clinic on how to manage expectations. He would give examples of what he was and was not going to do, monitor chat in case people got the wrong message, and did a very good job describing how things would roll out. He also explained limitations, and why things were being done. I wish we could get realistic presentations like this during E3, instead of just trying to hype things to the moon. It would be good for the industry.
is there any MMO ever shown in E3? I believe there is nothing for MMO. As for FFXIV, they only show it in fan festival or Tokyo Game Show. So let's wait for those 2 events. It's still February while those 2 is in middle of the year and end of year
@@anggasurbakti8269 What about Bioware's MMO? I literally cannot remember the name, but it was the people in robot suits flying around, super fake-ass dialogue of people "playing" it... ANTHEM, that was it!
@@jackcarlson4358 anthem is not an MMO , what are you talking about. Destiny, shown in E3 too, not an MMO. At least according to the people. Maybe for you they are MMO, but for most people, they are not MMO
Yoshi P is an exemplary project manager in a lot of ways. The XIV production schedule is the pinnacle of waterfall development cycle - everything is planned meticulously out, sometimes years in advance, and because this team has now been doing it so long, they are aware of how much work they can accomplish with the resources they have in the time that they have (classic Iron Triangle) which is why the request for 2 additional weeks for QA is quite acceptable. Testing an enormous system like a global MMO is an additive process, and each expansion has added new zones, new systems, etc. I'm sure much of it is automated, but it seems like every dev team member is expected to play through the new expansion and patch content as well. That takes time!
Having the Trust System for ARR to Stormblood would also ensure that the game can be preserved as offline game should SE decided to pull the plug someday.
Well FFXI can still be played. If they haven't pulled that plug yet I am not sure when they would 14. I think the trust system will be good for new players. People in lower level MSQ dungeons can be negative or make certain content more difficult. I do think those lower MSQ duties (Prae for example) will likely be more difficult for a new player in a trust than with experienced players, but some may want that more genuine experience.
@@gerritkoelsch4861 Oh for sure, XIV isn't going anywhere for a looooong time, and 11 still seems to have legs. In fact, xiv's success probably bought XI some more years of life because of curiosity. But it's good to have plana for that eventually day, even if it isn't anywhere in the foreseeable future.
I think a lot of the player base have no idea that there is some Mobile Gacha games on the Final Fantasy franchise. they probably will use NFTs on some of these games or create a new one that don't even need to be a FF game.
Uh he didn't say that at all! He clearly wishes he was able to add nfts but this current system does not really support a 'good' way to use it! He kinda hinted that he worked on NFTS and it likely spells doom for ff16
@asch not using those words, he also never mentioned 'my game' clearly stated 'at this point' and 'for now.. no plans'... that the translator translated? And he also defended NFTs at the same time, willing to talk about it more outside of the FFXIV briefing... mention that some people some how thinking that it's something bad
It's really refreshing to see a company say "we're going to slow down the release schedule of updates." I know that sounds odd, because most people's reactions would be "what no I want my stuff." But in this day and age, I would much prefer having content that takes longer to release but comes out as quality and enjoyable. It's the polar opposite feeling from Blizzard. As it turns out, I really just want to have a fun game, I don't care *when* I get it. And if hell freezes over and I somehow get bored of what's currently available, I can play something else for a bit, knowing that when the next thing comes out it's going to be fun.
Honestly, I would not even notice if it's 2 extra weeks, I tend to burn out of repeating current content after the first 5 weeks of repetition, and cannot even be bothered to cap weeklies anymore.
It doesn't matter anyways, because Final Fantasy respects your right to leave and come back in a few months when there is more content. Unlike other games that try to create an addiction cult
The future looks bright for XIV indeed. Gonna be taking a break to play some of the new releases like Elden Ring, but excited to jump into the future patches when they release.
i've been playing Horizon FW, and i wasn't expecting how much i'd be bouncing back and forth between it and XIV. it's a very weird thing, hunting robo-dinos and thinking, "man, i could really go for some miner leveling right about now" curious to see if elden ring and/or ghostwire can pull me completely away. lolol
@@celfhelp played ff14 for a bit more than a year and now it becomes my "comfort game". sometimes i don't even do roulette. just log in, chat a bit with my FC, or listen to a bard performance in Limsa Lominsa. doing absolutely nothing productive turns out quite enjoyable despite it is hardly fun.
"Beast tribe quests" are just going to be called "tribe quests" from now on because Eorzea is moving on from seeing them as beasts they must defend against, and seeing them as proper allies.
I love how Yoshi P in the beginning said not to expect any big announcements and then drops the visual update on us with incredibly impressive progress for a month of testing. Also its just refreshing to have a dev team that doesn’t need to worry about how they’re going to reinvent every aspect of the game each expansion, or the gearing process. I would assume doing the same in WoW would actually give them time to make proper casual content and more lively world.
Criticism will show up if expectations aren’t worth it for those don’t look at the game because they’re fan of it. It’s important to be honest and care for ppl counter experience.
Everything about this game and this team just make me feel so damned good as a player. I've NEVER had such a strong emotional connection to a game before. I've been a Final Fantasy fan for over 30 years and this is as good as it gets.
Just have a hard time ever going back to wow when FF14 is doing everything right not just on a content road map and long term planning and how open the team is but also they make sure the overall health of the community and the team are taken care of which is just as important.
Add future-proofing it with mounts, glamour and other kinds of stuff, and you'll get people still wanting to do them years later, whether it be new players wanting a mount to a crafter who wants to make cosmetic gear. They plan ahead.
Any time I watch a wow update I just see more grind or new systems. FF14 updates actually gives us overall game updates like the expanded Trust into pre-ShB expansions and new lighting and world design. It's nice to see.
I love how everyone has full confidence whatever yoshiP said because of the trust he has build over the years. It's also scary and pressuring for him to realise that it's very easy to lose it. That's why I can sympathize with him when he feels sad as he announced the delay of the EW expansion which is no big deal
The thing is, most people know that things happen. Some things you just can't account for and surprise bugs in a build is one of those things. The reason everyone was so cool about it was because he was upfront and honest about. He didn't try to hide it. He didn't try to shift the blame. He accepted full responsibility despite him definitely not being the dev who wrote the bug or the QA that found it. He showed empathy towards the players at the same time he showed that he himself is a fantastic leader.
I vastly prefer these long, detailed livestreams ffxiv does than the edited, pre-recorded style of presentation. There is just something more "real" about the live letter style. They also directly interact with the chat a lot, which helps create that connection. It feels more like they're talking WITH the players, not AT the players, even though they are still giving a structured presentation.
The wild thing about crafting and macros is: A crafting macro is just something you build up on, so when you get something that works for a bunch of crafts, it's a minor achievement that can be really exciting. I just recently hopped onto crafting my raid's food and pots, and refining my macros to be better is an exciting time.
I have seen people say that using macros from the internet basically killed crafting for them. But then I have to agree, because making them yourself is so fun! Slowly experimenting and trying out your own macros, seeing what makes them fail and how to make them more consistent is as fun as crafting itself!, trying to do expert recipes or collectables can be a challengue with no food or other buffs :3c
@@Felinaxo Same here. I never look up macros. I like experimenting and testing things out myself to see what works for. I mean, I like to think I'm at least smart enough to figure out a good crafting rotation to put on a macro. hahaha
I made a lot of little tweaks to Crafting Macros to account for my stats and recipe levels when doing mass collectible turnins for Exp. I am SO grateful for Trial Synthesis like you wouldn't believe. Holy freaking QOL upgrade. To be able to just do a test craft to see if things are where you want them (barring some small RNG). That is honestly the single biggest QOL crafting update and we didn't get it until around 5.4.
@@Felinaxo People who say that never played this game from the start, everyone always looked up crafting rotations online. There was shenanigans you could do with specialist actions back in the day but barely anyone bothered with that, since it was easier to just gear up and avoid rng rotations.
All the Trust System updates are also fantastic from a Game Perservation standpoint. The FFXIV Servers will be taken down someday. Not any time soon, but someday. And even before then, the game will see falloff after they stop making new content. Allowing players to solo all that stuff will be fantastic for future Warriors of Light.
Im glad so many people were able to watch this live letter, almost 60k As a fan of this game/dev team for going on 9 years, I've always loved their consistency. Does every single implementation work? No But do they update things at a consistent basis? Do they iterate on things due to feedback? Do they give us MORE things in the future and tell us what they're doing? Yes I don't expect 100% transparency but a plan is always good to have and "in good hands" is definitely the correct line of thought
You nailed it at the end there saying "I'm just happy playing the game I don't feel obligated to log in." This is so true. I have just been logging in to send ventures out for my retainers and enjoying lost ark and other games that have come out this month. I don't feel like I'm missing much but I'm just generally happy that I can log in and just dive right in.
The content never goes away. I've been playing since 1.0 and I still have a huge back log of achievements that I pick away at when I'm between patches and there isn't something else going on.
@@aevicc I played EW from launch to late january, came back to wow and my 3 chars are ready for 9.2 and i havnt played them for 3+ months. What daily grind are you talking about? Cause i dont see it, mind giving actual examples from what in wow i need to farm daily?
@Jesper Johansson I haven't played wow myself, so my input shouldn't be valued much. But maybe speak with your fellow players cuz you are the single outlier in the opinions about the lengths wow goes to get you to only play your game. Perhaps you have more free time than most players? Play a role that isn't dps?
I love the transparency that the devs have with the community it feels as though they give us a reason to trust them rather than just saying "trust us bro its gonna be epic"
The Live Letter is a roadmap done right, it's always so incredible how much they can squeeze in for us to see, there's always so much it's almost overwhelming, and the production & presentations are so clear and descriptive. The Live Letter is really impressive.
I was thinking of how the usual response from WoW players is that XIV is a trash weeb anime game. I recall Sodapoppin claiming XIV is a trash game with no future. Yet in 9.2 Blizzard is giving more of the same with no real long term vision. Here we have the game’s producer giving us the long term strategic vision as well as laying out the new few patch cycles. Telling us that players have slowly increased. Giving us all a reason to dig in long term and also telling us to take breaks. Yoshida is really here for the long haul.
Imagine Gshade on top of this improved foundation. Definitely will be a step up and I'm glad they're doing it. As for why Yoshi-P and the FFXIV team actually sit down and discuss things with their fanbase, it boils down to one simple thing, they aren't afraid of their players. Dev studios usually have one of two cultures, they either think their players are one of them or they think they are against them. Blizzard is in the latter bucket and has been for quite a long time.
I hope they will do their best on this point. Could really change a lot for the game. I can't play without gshade. The engine is capable of way more, it just it was done in the hurry (because of the rework) and at the beginning, not so much dev were experienced on it at SqEnix
Since you've caught up through the MSQ, you're now learning what the game's true retention mechanisms are: predictability in new content cycles, long-term platform stewardship, and constant refinement of existing systems to better meet player need. That keeps people coming back, whether it's logging in every day or popping in for MSQ content and dabbling otherwise. Dependability is a powerful attractor.
thats less like the artificially created hype, its more like the dependable plan of a reasonable dev who loves what he did and most important, he loves to use/play what he did by himself. thats what catches the community so much and every time again, seeing this dude beeing so focused and so positivly lookin forward what to bring out next in the same way he lost everything almost loosing his friend (and composer).
People complain about the 4 month patch cycle but its not like they hit 3.5 months anyway. 6.1 is going to be 5 months after Endwalker and no one really cares. Also, is this the first video where Bellular refers to the FFXIV community as "we" instead of "they"?
the .1 patch is always the longest wait. This is because back in 3.0 they gave the dev team like a month off. Problem was, there were issues that HW had at launch that were not addressed quickly that led to YoshiP explaining why. So moving on from 4.0+ they had measures in place to address issues and were ahead in the dev cycle to allow for time off for the dev team.
@@nyrahl593 I remember the time between 5.0 and 5.1 and it wasn't 5 months long. And throughout Shadowbringers they missed their 3.5 month mark multiple times, albeit because of covid. I know that the .1 patch takes longer than normal, that's not my point. My point is that no one really cares how long the patches are as long as they are regularly scheduled and predictable.
Yeah. I don't get it. When you look at WoW, as a comparison, they're lucky if a content is even released. I don't mind the 3 to 4 month development cycle, honestly. I'd rather have them get the development right, than rushed and broken.
It really is! It's become such a great FF mainline title- really a rich JRPG with co-op content. Makes me really look forward to future Creative Business Division III titles.
@9:30 There are some unspoken or glossed over content pieces in the expectations. As you said "maybe new Trials", no, 100% a new Extreme every patch. And on occasion something EX-level for glamour (Odin and Memora Misera) or non-EX trials for other content such as Hildibrand. It won't be until 6.2 that we find out the likely Trial series theme for the later Endwalker patches, since 6.1's Trial will be the Extreme version of the lv90 MSQ trial. There will also be 2 more reputation ("beast tribe") quest sets for later patches as well. Not unlikely to be Loporrits and [REDACTED], I know that one place in the final zone is begging to be a tribe quest hub.
Awesome non spoiler take!! I'm level 82 atm, got married in December and my gaming time is pretty short now...... Looking forward to finishing the story and doing some raids and extremes.
The G shaders idea I got from this channel, I spent hours applying settings and shadows and bloom. It's like wearing glasses, It has been FANTASTIC visually. Sunrises have been amazing where I just have to stop and watch, faces have depth, and the 'fog' that convers the image was removed. I've seen a lot of videos where they over do it, less is more with these things. I've kept the artifacts to almost none. I've loved it, and when they add these lighting options, they should merge well with little fuss. I can't wait!
Smilegate: Can we have some? I’m too tired and kinda feel weird. Ubisoft: Take me, I will need to it as well EA: So much, but nah, give me in micro transactions if you want to live healthy Bandai, Sega, Taketwo, Bethesda, Sony, Microsoft, and other big companies: We need more foods, drugs, and clearances for sum. Guess it, you got game…
In regards to XIV crafting, I know there is talk about "macros" as if they're a negative thing, but personally I derived enjoyment when leveling up in ARR, figuring out a "rotation" that worked for whatever my current leve target was, and making that into a workable macro to eliminate or minimize RNG. It was something that got a bit easier with every crafter at 50, because they'd bring new cross-class skills to the table. That last part isn't really there anymore but you can still try to figure out what works for you in terms of macro, based on your current level and stats, while you aim to hit the next Ishgard restoration collectable. And if you feel like spicing things up there's also things like the Moogle/Namazu beast tribe quests.
I noticed any notion of a graphics update on FFXIV Reddit would receive a large amount of downvotes. To keep this game relevant and competitive it was obvious it required some TLC in the graphics department. I'm really glad they're keeping the same art style, as that's never been the issue. Really glad to see Yoshi P will make the right decisions for the health of this game.
Fans of the game can get defensive including myself. I think the game can be visually stunning at times and show its age and Jank at times as well. Realistically what is considered acceptable today might not be 3-4 years from now so if they plan to continue for 10+ years a graphical update is necessary.
i think graphics are really a low priority for most players. by MMO standards, the game looks totally fine. an MMO is always going to have hundreds of players in cities, if you have demanding graphics it makes the game inaccessible to lower end pcs. but yknow if theyre making a graphics update im fine with that! just wouldnt have been my first request, but always a welcome update. i do think the game looks completely fine at the moment though, the visual design of the game is done well so that even though the game doesnt have high graphics, it still looks visually satisfying
@@boozie773 I hate it when people insist that you must, absolutely must, have 4k ultra super duper individual hair strand animated graphics. Leave that crap to FPS games or what-not. XIV's graphics are fine and they will be fine 5 years from now. I mean, consider this, FFXI is still being run and have you seen the graphics of _that_ game? Or how about games like Terraria and Stardew Valley? They are mega-popular on Steam, in fact Terraria just won the Labor of Love award ahead of several big budget AAA games a couple months ago. You _DO NOT_ need ultra 4k graphics for a game to be good. If you did, then WoW would have been dead years ago. What _will_ hurt an MMO, though, is people being forced to quit because their aging computers can no longer run the game. With the Parts Market the way it is... upgrading your PC to stay in an MMO might not be financially feasible. 5 years ago, you could build a new bang-for-buck tower for $900. Today, that's getting closer to $2k. Not everybody has that kind of disposable income laying around.
@@toychristopher I haven't checked out the fears of Reddit, but I do think the trust/squadron being available will be good for Prae and Castrum. Those seem to be the 2 duties that cause the most issues. I've noticed people can be much more toxic in these 2 duties because they either feel it is too long (Prae - just there for the tomestones) or not enough XP (Castrum- there to level). That said, I don't think these 2 duties will be as easy as they are now either unless they purposely make the easier. People in a trust will be going in somewhat blind with nobody to guide or help. It will take longer if they don't know what they can or can't skip too. That said, I think most people are upset about losing their easy tomestones runs - so maybe I can more easily find a group for later content. 🙂
I'm curious about the Tataru story. At first I thought of StB's Four Lords, but then I remembered where we left Tataru at the end of EW and I'm wondering if it's crafting related.
This is what I've been looking forward to from this wave of WoW refugees. Your first patch cycle. Sure, WoW expacks might launch with "more" content, but FFXIV is a steady flow from one expack to the next.
Yet again their team just reaffirms their commitment to doing this right and all this on top of their regular plans. Very happy to hear Yoshi's plan going forward. Might have to play New Game+ once we get more of these graphics upgrades in older expansions in place!
I really enjoyed watch this. The happiness that you showed is wonderful and I am so glad all you former WoW players can see how much FF14 cares about the players.
I agree with you on trusts. Your corpse can be dragged through a dungeon in the duty finder, but trusts at least require you to not get hit more than a few times. Neither of them require you to do real DPS so that's even.
responsive lighting and just better material quality is going to go a really long way. Seeing stretched material on bigger characters or odd curves/corners looks really bad right now.
FFXIV is my feelgood game, i can either play it for several months at a time and really bit into the content or i can enjoy a lull and play something else. I don't mind them reducing the patch cycle from 4 to 3 per year because i know the content will be good and worthwhile.
Blizzard has cultivated a toxic community and so distancing from the players is natural, they also view players as cash flow. The closest WoW came to open conversation were the blue posts from active devs. You get what you cultivate I guess?
as a sprout who just finished shadowbringers i can say that i absolutely love the trust system. i don't think it will replace group content or something because running a dungeon with trust is a) a lot slower, because trust don't mass pull and aoe packs down. but this allows the new player to get a more immersive experience because you have actually the time to see the dungeon. i couldnt enjoy my first castrum run at all even though i thought it was so fcking cool b) much harder and unforgiving if you've never been there before. you have to figure out the bosses for yourself and nobody can tell you what you are doing wrong. if you die you'll have to start over but in the end you will have understand the mechanics for yourself and wont be clowning through the dungeons when you play with actual players. this makes the dungeon rush much more enjoyable later on
Am I the only one who has seen Belluars Shaders and thought they looked awful? Looks dark and oversaturated at the same time. lol BUT that being said... I'm glad we're getting our graphics bump just for textures being less pixelated tho
That is a pro when it comes to Gshade. It comes with a bunch of presets for you to test out, and then you can customize those presets to your exact liking. I'm in the same boat, the preset he uses feels like it intensifies shadows too much while oversaturating stuff. I'm much more into the Espresso Glow Shadowbringers preset, as it just has a bit of touching on lighting to make everything pop a bit more while not making everything look washed out.
@@Ch4pp13 I've never personally used shaders I don't knock anybody who does really just I guess I should say of all the things people from WoW have ever complained about to me Graphicswise I think FFXIV is better and it sort of irks me when he flicks on his ugly shaders and is so smug about how great they look when they really don't to me.
@@NotTheWheel And I totally get where you're coming from, which is another reason why I think Gshade is so good, since we can tweak it to our preferences. You can make the game look really colourful and make everything pop, or you can make it look like FPS games from the early 10's, or just turn everything blue... if you really wanted. great, now I have a slight feeling of dread that I'm going to be hounded one day by someone obsessed with Gshade wanting to know what everyone's running and lecturing everyone in what's "objectively" the best...
It’s hard for people to grasp the idea that you can go play other stuff and come back later. Games these days have put people in the mindset of missing out, so you must grind now.
I absolutely love the Trust system. Even the old Company system though I wish they would beef that up and extend it into the other expansions. Trust and Company systems running concurrently may seem redundant but sometimes I love cultivating an elite team of normals that aren't the Scions. Kind of makes it your own thing.
I'm so excited to jump in with the free trial opening up again! I'll probably miss a few things that are coming up in the early early game, but I'm excited nonetheless!
I am kinda excited with the Trust system on legacy content. That means we get to have Ysayle, Haurchefant, and Lucia as probable party members. We get to also have Lyse, Yugiri, Gousetsu, and Hien in Stormblood. All the more I can replay some parts.
yeah I found it pretty awesome that the Endwalker MSQ only requires you to group with other people twice. And also, there's a couple Trusts later in the story that give you a whole lot of hype and excitement just based off of the reveal that you can Trust them.
The P in Yoshi-P is a respectful term of indearment. I first saw it used by the author of the Sailor Moon manga - she referred to her publishing agent as Osa-P (the jewelry store in the series is named that after him). There are also a few times in the manga that they refer to Minako as Mina-P
The main thing in gshade about "more depth in your characters" you're talking about with lighting is ambient occlusion. And while they said they're looking into better AO shaders they haven't promised it yet.
I've said it before, and I will say it again. Lights and shadows can really elevate the visual experience. I do wonder if Blizzard is taking notes. Them and Bioware.
The Trust system changes are a welcomed addition though I'd wish they'd do something with the Adventurer Squadron. FFXI had a system where you could summon an npc to your side and level with each other outside. The Last Remnant had a looting system for your NPC party in which they would ask you to take em hunt a specific dungeon or a type of mob so they would get a drop they wanted for an upgrade. I wish they would do something similar with them.
I love how ffxiv live letters can be much more in depth with what we'll get to play in a patch and what to expect, while also being a lot more vague and spoiling very little, a short trailer of a bunch of ooc clips mashed together to be super cinematic and some screenshots is all of the actual gameplay experience that gets shown as opposed to the 9.2 trailer just talking you through the entire plot of the zone and raid chronologically. You know both exactly what you're in for when you log in on patch day, and also have no idea what to expect the moment you actually get into the new content.
Tried with 5.0 trust dungeon, I see them know the mechanic better than me. it was 30 mins for the 71 dungeon. But at least it trains and reduce my anxiety for getting DR in those zones with certain jobs.
Imo do Bozja 1st (maybe parallel with housing) ... start of Bozja is bit slow, but picks um as soon as the 1st Bozja specify duties (raid-like) show up (omg especially the last one, which we'll farm for upgrading) ... AND can level up any alt classes, that atleast lv 70 while doing Boja content (even lv.60 when doing the lv 60 dungeons for the reliv) Bozja will you get more than just the relic weapon (bis of ShB) and very good gear for main or alt classes, u also can lv alt classes)
Wait so since the graphic update is in the next expansion does that mean we won’t see it for 2 years? I’m like new but I’m pretty sure it’s a new expansion every 2 years right? Damn I wish it wasn’t so far away
Unironically, I'm most excited for nice looking grass. There were a couple times in cutscenes in endwalker where the camera angle really highlighted some poor grass and terrain textures. I'm very happy
It makes me laugh every time the camera zooms in super close to a really low-rez texture, like anytime it shows the ground or when they zoom in on Thavnair on the map in your Sharlayan meeting room.
Oh my god you know what i just realized is great about the patch cycle getting longer? That means if you complete all the content you want to complete within a month of playing FFXIV you can unsub for the next 3 months, play other games, and come back to a bigger patch than if they would have to stick to the previous format. Because sticking to every 3.5 months forced them to delay things more and more recently. But as ive seen streamers talk about with plenty of years under their belt with past FFXIV expansions, 6.X series is shaping up to be the most amount of content in a post launch expansion. I can play tons of other games, even other MMOs in between the time of each patch, and i can come right back any time i want or linger longer if theres gonna be more content to finish. The future looks so good for this game and i hope it stays this way. Holy hell.
Just the care and the focus on detail is what impresses me everytime. Imagine that, taking the time to get it right, going back and updating past content...amazing.
Wished they would start at stormblood with trust-downranking. You actually can use your grand company Squadron to do most of the ARR and Heavensward dungeons. Stormblood is actually a bit of a slow down, when you only play solo.
You can use your squadrons, yes, but they have to be unlocked first. By the time you've unlocked them, you've already done a few ARR MSQ dungeons. If the idea is for a person to never have to party up while doing MSQ (other than 8-man trials...for now), then they would either need to drop the requirements lower, or make trusts. Also in command missions, all the mechanics go on you, so you can't really learn by observing the trusts. (Doing Sohm Al, you end up with quite a few mechanics on you at the same time in the last boss, not a single one of them on the squadron). This makes it less ideal for a person with anxiety. Don't get me wrong, I love command missions, I actually prefer them to trusts because they go faster, but trusts are the better option for a first-timer.
@@Squintina "I love command missions, I actually prefer them to trusts because they go faster" Squadron members are built different. They do SO much damage. Meanwhile, trusts' damage scales inversely with yours, as part of their balancing to make it so trusts are never outright better to do than running the dungeon with real players.
@@Ketsuekisan Especially since my squadrons have fully ranked tactics, massive damage boosts. (I've...done a lot of command missions, as I leveled about 8 jobs through 55 on them). Unfortunately that experience is also how I see why trusts would be preferred for a first-timer.
14:26 and i think thats one of the things that makes the trust system been backward compatible is a great idea, it dosnt matter when you start if you decided you want to run a place thats not really ran anymore or your a DPS that doesn't really have the time to wait in que for 20 to 40 minutes for a pop you can use them and run the place at your own pace (sadly if you want to have a look around and your only option is a group your just been a asshole to the other people with you which isnt on, so you end up running the place at their speed)
I’m pretty pumped for the new trust updates. I pretty much play all my dungeons with trust bc I came from offline FF games and it feels more traditional to go through a dungeon with a party made up of the main cast. And I can’t express enough my excitement I got with the later dungeons in Endwalker
Been so excited and hopeful that they'd give a few tlc based touches to the races and even more so for the world. Gshade is amazing but I think everyone has been secretly holding out for something like this. I'm super pumped for everything going forward! Here's to another ten years!!
He did specifically say that Viera will not be changing in regards to headwear. He said it was too difficult to create at this time - I'm guessing they may have to redo the entire race in some way to accomplish this.
@@melissas4874 The explanation they gave before is that, the way the built Viera, the ears count as a hat. I have no idea why they did it like that, instead of like the au ra horns that just clip straight through the side of every hat and look awful. The bunny ears poking out the top of stuff would look way better.
1:00 generally sure, but here we are with ultimate delayed 2 years so far even tho they said it's almost ready every few months. For graphics I hope they finally fix antialiasing, as they only did improve lighting and shadows so far from presentation while textures are still in 2002 like pretty much whole game graphically
14:08 One of the things I love about XIV is that I don't feel like I have to play every moment of the day to get my sub worth. In fact, Yoshi-P even encourages players to try other games. He doesn't want people to log in feeling like it's a job. So when I do come back and log in after a break, it always feels good.☺
It just cracks me up that the FFXIV folks can and do lay out their content plans and patch cadence with such confidence, precision, and transparency while the WoW team, at any given time, might be able to give you a half-year ballpark for the release date of their next patch and a big fat shrug emoji for anything after that.
There's only 3 that don't let you change their clothes, I think, and 2 of them have really obvious reasons you can't: one of them is a dragon, and one of them is a literal child. No idea why we can't dress up Naago, though.
I hope I'm wrong but think the trust dungeons will cost us forrays this time, I remember reading trusts requiring dungeons being built for them in mind. If it still holds true a lot of similar resources will go into rebuilding the instances with I assume modern standards and markers plus the QA similar of a MSQ dungeons cause getting it wrong would be a costly mistake. Unless content creation capacity have drastically increased something gotta give. Not saying I think they shouldn't do this it's gonna be a huge relief on DPS during dead hours and leveling roulette in general
I just hope with the expanded patch schedule, we get more than 1-2 dungeons per patch. But I'm more than willing to wait for longer periods for more stuff. The game itself is pretty fun and it gives me far more time to gear up, level classes, and what have you. This time I might actually be able to get my combat classes all to 90
When a game team has a proper projection, checkpoint planning.. basically proper management and planning *before* the task, not month-by-month... you can project your deadlines easier and know where to cut. Which is what square does, and most other studios don't. Source: I work in a month-by-month company and we're always playing chase.
its crazy to me hearing wow players shit talking graphics of ffxiv. Like wow JUST got a graphic update and still has huge issues. I agree ffxiv needs an update but maybe some players should take a seat.
saw the graphical update live and was freaking out with all of my friends while we were at an in-game bar. there was a lot of "GRASS" and "WEED" in our linkshell chat also i would agree that the trust system does punish more because the npcs are programmed to move to a certain spot with circles, and if you're not in the open spot they won't move at all to allow you to scoot in. it is a really good learning experience though, i always do trust the first time to ensure i don't ruin anybody's roulette lol
Trusts have killed me a couple times while I was leveling alts, because I would get a stack marker and stay in melee range to hit the boss, like most players would. Meanwhile, the trust gang would stack somewhere behind me and just watch me get obliterated by the stack marker.
The graphics update for WoW made such a big difference to the game at the time even though I was doubtful about it, so am really excited to see how the game looks after the changes. Alongside when we get more info on the Criterion.
She is *such* a Red Mage. Charging in, doing her melee combo against the bad guy, then stays in just a little too long while the boss does his *painfully slow telegraph.* And then Alphinaud has to go and pick her up. And that's not even in the Trusts. That's in cutscenes!
New trust makes this game so much more accessible for other fans of the franchise or people that have performance anxiety. I'm so happy with the direction the game wants to go in terms of graphics and content in general. I'm so proud of this dev team. :)
@@wyzkun Squadron requires some entry grind to access, while Trust would be available the moment you get to Satasha, so it is more new player-friendly.
I'm kinda worried though, if they start doing all of these improvements, I _hope_ they will let you play the game _without_ the graphical overhauls -- PC Parts are *not* cheap these days, and some of us have aging computers because of it. I'm running a Ryzen 1500x (first gen) and a 1050ti. I'm not sure I would be able to handle all of these overhauls. I'd hate to have to quit because they bumped the minimum requirements up too high. I just can't afford a new PC right now.
they said that they will try include as many system types as possible, I play on 4 year old laptop and I was worried if New World is gonna fry my laptop. It was fine, got an honest 40 fps so I doubt its gonna be overly crazy

Q&A is full of spoiler yes. But it has an answer to your question about the tail or other parts of character clipping through each other parts. He said he decide to let it be that way so they can add a lot of new gear easily without putting too much work on animation team.
Not hyping things to the moon means less launch sales, can't do that
is there any MMO ever shown in E3? I believe there is nothing for MMO. As for FFXIV, they only show it in fan festival or Tokyo Game Show. So let's wait for those 2 events. It's still February while those 2 is in middle of the year and end of year

Having the Trust System for ARR to Stormblood would also ensure that the game can be preserved as offline game should SE decided to pull the plug someday.
oh yea they got dragon quest x offline in the oven aswell
Well FFXI can still be played. If they haven't pulled that plug yet I am not sure when they would 14.
I think the trust system will be good for new players. People in lower level MSQ dungeons can be negative or make certain content more difficult. I do think those lower MSQ duties (Prae for example) will likely be more difficult for a new player in a trust than with experienced players, but some may want that more genuine experience.
@@melissas4874 Well they won't do ot anytime soon, but eventually every game will get shut down, even if it's not for a very long time.

I did also get a kick out of Yoshi-P immediately squashing worries about NFTs by outright saying "No, that's not happening to my game"

I think a lot of the player base have no idea that there is some Mobile Gacha games on the Final Fantasy franchise. they probably will use NFTs on some of these games or create a new one that don't even need to be a FF game.

And if hell freezes over and I somehow get bored of what's currently available, I can play something else for a bit, knowing that when the next thing comes out it's going to be fun.
and even then when they said it
i thought it was going to be double the time and not just two weeks
Talk about coping.

I love how Yoshi P in the beginning said not to expect any big announcements and then drops the visual update on us with incredibly impressive progress for a month of testing. Also its just refreshing to have a dev team that doesn’t need to worry about how they’re going to reinvent every aspect of the game each expansion, or the gearing process. I would assume doing the same in WoW would actually give them time to make proper casual content and more lively world.
Considering this is one month in, and they still have around 2 years until 7.0 has me very excited!
Yeah I can only imagine how much better it's going to look in 7.0
Yeah he was very humble at the start, as if he wasn't about to drop a big bomb on us with that.
Criticism will show up if expectations aren’t worth it for those don’t look at the game because they’re fan of it. It’s important to be honest and care for ppl counter experience.
Yea you ff14 dweebs get amazed by yoshi p breathing
Everything about this game and this team just make me feel so damned good as a player. I've NEVER had such a strong emotional connection to a game before. I've been a Final Fantasy fan for over 30 years and this is as good as it gets.
Same here! 🤘🏻And it also makes me happy to see that FF seems to be in a good place right now in general. FF7R amazingly good and FF16 probably is too.
Just have a hard time ever going back to wow when FF14 is doing everything right not just on a content road map and long term planning and how open the team is but also they make sure the overall health of the community and the team are taken care of which is just as important.
Ff14 also doesn't abandon content like WoW does. I can still do content from even aar and it's still relevant and important to the narrative
It feels good supporting this game where they take care of the players, community and the dev team 🤘🏻
@@richardshiflett5181 Not only they don't abandon it, but they actually improve it as seen in this letter. It's awesome.
Adding trial synthesis was so good
@@Felinaxo People who say that never played this game from the start, everyone always looked up crafting rotations online.
Im glad so many people were able to watch this live letter, almost 60k
As a fan of this game/dev team for going on 9 years, I've always loved their consistency. Does every single implementation work? No
But do they update things at a consistent basis? Do they iterate on things due to feedback? Do they give us MORE things in the future and tell us what they're doing? Yes
I don't expect 100% transparency but a plan is always good to have and "in good hands" is definitely the correct line of thought

Trust system is actually a great way to learn basic mechanics which will give you more confidence to try it in a random party.
So refreshing to see well laid plans by developers who listen to their community!
Haurchefant tanking in The Vault would be amazing and devastating at the same time. Especially since I like to heal.

That place in Zone 6 is either a tribe quest hub or a custom delivery place, and tribe quest seems way more likely.

EA: So much, but nah, give me in micro transactions if you want to live healthy
Bandai, Sega, Taketwo, Bethesda, Sony, Microsoft, and other big companies: We need more foods, drugs, and clearances for sum.
That fact that yoshi said they're looking at MCH makes me a little happy. Make MCH the selfish dps it was meant to be or give it unique utility.
Thank you for keeping it spoiler free!
Reddit thinks that expanding the trust system is going to "destroy the game" but they also say that people are "already leaving in droves"
i think graphics are really a low priority for most players. by MMO standards, the game looks totally fine. an MMO is always going to have hundreds of players in cities, if you have demanding graphics it makes the game inaccessible to lower end pcs. but yknow if theyre making a graphics update im fine with that! just wouldnt have been my first request, but always a welcome update. i do think the game looks completely fine at the moment though, the visual design of the game is done well so that even though the game doesnt have high graphics, it still looks visually satisfying
They mentioned a 10 year plan, meaning the next 4-5 expansions. *HYPE!!!*
All MMOs should be looking to FFXIV and especially Yoshi himself as a template on how to conduct themselves with the fanbase.
This is what I've been looking forward to from this wave of WoW refugees. Your first patch cycle. Sure, WoW expacks might launch with "more" content, but FFXIV is a steady flow from one expack to the next.
Wow expansions don't even launch with a full story. They just now are killing the Jailer after all these months.
I've got my fingers crossed for an Au Ra horn texture upgrade. I love my male Au Ra but his horns look really blurry and they're right in his face.
I love my female Au Ra’s glowing eyes (limbal rings). They already add a lot, and I wonder what they’ll look like with the update.
responsive lighting and just better material quality is going to go a really long way. Seeing stretched material on bigger characters or odd curves/corners looks really bad right now.
I can't imagine they'd upgrade the character creation parts' textures and then just leave the horns the same.
It literally says on the slide for 6.2 in the bottom right corner that Pandemonium will be added ;)
@@Ch4pp13 If it makes you feel better at least we are at an understanding :)
You won't miss anything, you'll be able to check it out when it releases like everyone else :)
yosshi saying "4k grapes"(everyone misheard fkin grapes)
400,000 polygon grapes.
Yeah, when the model updates first come out, Ilberd will end up looking a bit.... SLOPPEH!!!
I love how happy Bell looks talking about what he wants to do in FF and not feeling pressure by it xD
I'm looking forward to the Trust system being implemented into ARR. I'll definitely be checking out all the changes with an alt.
The P in Yoshi-P is a respectful term of indearment. I first saw it used by the author of the Sailor Moon manga - she referred to her publishing agent as Osa-P (the jewelry store in the series is named that after him). There are also a few times in the manga that they refer to Minako as Mina-P
That and I heard they have 2 Yoshida in the team so he is Yoshi-P(roducer).
The main thing in gshade about "more depth in your characters" you're talking about with lighting is ambient occlusion.
And while they said they're looking into better AO shaders they haven't promised it yet.
It's because they aren't running a frat house. When you actually run your game like a workplace you can get things done on a schedule.
Uhh they are doing something. From fanfest korea there was q&a about it. Find it in reddit
Imo do Bozja 1st (maybe parallel with housing)
... start of Bozja is bit slow, but picks um as soon as the 1st Bozja specify duties (raid-like) show up (omg especially the last one, which we'll farm for upgrading)
...
AND can level up any alt classes, that atleast lv 70 while doing Boja content (even lv.60 when doing the lv 60 dungeons for the reliv)
Bozja will you get more than just the relic weapon (bis of ShB) and very good gear for main or alt classes, u also can lv alt classes)
Wait so since the graphic update is in the next expansion does that mean we won’t see it for 2 years? I’m like new but I’m pretty sure it’s a new expansion every 2 years right? Damn I wish it wasn’t so far away
Trusts through the entire story is going to actually let me level a tank! the tankxiety is real for doing it with other players
I blame vet players who want to wall to wall all content and refuse to let the Tank dictate the run flow. It's a bad habit these players have
Unironically, I'm most excited for nice looking grass.
@@Ketsuekisan oh man yeah a new HD map would be great lmao
Holy hell.
honesty wins loyalty. I thank them for being open and honest and I look forward to playing this game for years to come.
@@Squintina "I love command missions, I actually prefer them to trusts because they go faster"
Squadron members are built different.
Hey what's the background piano music title?

One of the things I love about XIV is that I don't feel like I have to play every moment of the day to get my sub worth. In fact, Yoshi-P even encourages players to try other games. He doesn't want people to log in feeling like it's a job. So when I do come back and log in after a break, it always feels good.☺
It just cracks me up that the FFXIV folks can and do lay out their content plans and patch cadence with such confidence, precision, and transparency while the WoW team, at any given time, might be able to give you a half-year ballpark for the release date of their next patch and a big fat shrug emoji for anything after that.
not every custom deliveries npc has customisable clothing and for some reason I doubt they will allow it with Ameliance
Compared to WoW, FFXIV looks gorgeous, even without reshade. Fanboyism is a hard drug I guess.
Note that they don't call the tribes "beast" anymore
They are just tribes now because "Beast Tribe" is like an Eorzean racist slang
It was garlean propaganda circulated by ul'dah's merchants, because money and competition, which eventually turned into what we see in the game.
“beast tribe” lost it’s meaning when the the dwarfs are included as beast tribes
Character development for the player character XD.

saw the graphical update live and was freaking out with all of my friends while we were at an in-game bar. there was a lot of "GRASS" and "WEED" in our linkshell chat
also i would agree that the trust system does punish more because the npcs are programmed to move to a certain spot with circles, and if you're not in the open spot they won't move at all to allow you to scoot in. it is a really good learning experience though, i always do trust the first time to ensure i don't ruin anybody's roulette lol
Zot was really frustrating as a dps with trusts
Trusts have killed me a couple times while I was leveling alts, because I would get a stack marker and stay in melee range to hit the boss, like most players would. Meanwhile, the trust gang would stack somewhere behind me and just watch me get obliterated by the stack marker.
The graphics update for WoW made such a big difference to the game at the time even though I was doubtful about it, so am really excited to see how the game looks after the changes. Alongside when we get more info on the Criterion.
"Trust system" flashbacks to *alisaie jumping away with stack marker*
She is *such* a Red Mage. Charging in, doing her melee combo against the bad guy, then stays in just a little too long while the boss does his *painfully slow telegraph.* And then Alphinaud has to go and pick her up.
And that's not even in the Trusts. That's in cutscenes!
