Zappa did get "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" from the cover of a pulp men's magazine, this is from real life. Veitch is implying here that Stan came up with the line, or at least the magazine was part of Martin Goodman's line of men's magazines, which is very plausible.
Given that you were the very reason I even know who the Maximortal was. Let me tell you I sure as hell was excited for when Rick Vietch announced the upcoming sequel Trueman the Maximortal. Thanks again mate.
Your original maximortal and beat pack videos got my brother and I obsessed with Rick veitch. So this is amazing to see you cover boy maximortal after I’ve kept up with it
Btw volume 3 True-Man the Maximortal has started publication with issue 1. Like all Veitch comics its available in digital and print on demand in his amazon store.
The connection of Weasels Ripped My Flesh comes from a Sweat Pulp story of the title to the Frank Zappa album of the same title. The pulp magazines were the father to the comic book industry.
I went back and reread his earlier work after your last set of videos. I’m very glad there’s a new book out. I know he did some of his early work for heavy metal, but my first real knowledge of him was for his series the one.
All of Rick Veitch's comics. Deserve a reprint and be accessible everywhere. It's been many years ago since it was in obscurity. Hopefully all of his comics, gets reprinted one day.
Your prior Maximortal video got me into the King Hell Heroica as well as Veitch’s other writing work and since i read the last chapter of Boy Maximortal when it came out ive been itching to hear for your thoughts on it! Great video!
Loved Veitch since I read The One back in the 80s, its great to see him return to possibly his best story. I wish him nothing but success and satisfaction, lord knows he deserves it.
The ending is just ok and the FBI investigation prose sections are too numerous but Rick Veitch still got it. JMS made Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex canon in Superman: Earth One but those messy comics inspired a few scenes in Snyder´s DC films so it´s not all bad.
While Brat Pack can be skipped for continuity purposes, do yourself a favor and don't skip it. I found it quite by accident back in 96 and however good Maximortal was it didn't hit anywhere near as hard or as good for me. I wasn't aware that Veitch was continuing it so thank you for that.
Your review on Bratpack convinced me that I wouldn't like it. Glad to know that is material maybe more to my liking. I love Veitch's Swamp Thing run, but haven't read anything more of his works.
Should also say this vid made me check for Maximortal news for the first time in a while and apparently the first True-Man book came out 2 months ago…..i know what im doing tonight!!!
This volume was a mixed bag for me. The writing and storytelling was great as usual but the switch to digital art made thinks look a little too mismatched. Veitch seems to have gotten a better handle on these tools with True-Man the Maximortal issue 1.

Ah! Mystery solved. Much appreciated. I could not, for the life of me, wonder why there was this specific reference.
He thought he was a man, but he was muffin.
This is really encouraging to hear, I honestly think you've given me enough push to search the whole of Rick Veitch's independent work.
There's a lot to discover. I wish you well on that journey. :)

His panels--the composition, blocking--look so effortless. The action: so smooth, easy to follow, but with a lot going on.

I don’t see it on Amazon Canada. Are you sure?
@@andrewallen-peatIt may not be available on Amazon Canada, but it is true. I ordered a copy recently.
@ Thanks. Hopefully it becomes available at some point 🤷
Looks interesting
The Jack Kirby segment along is worth the read

Rick Veitch has been reprinting most of his stuff with print on demand through Amazon. They form a lot of the back matter of the Boy Maximortal books.
Your prior Maximortal video got me into the King Hell Heroica as well as Veitch’s other writing work and since i read the last chapter of Boy Maximortal when it came out ive been itching to hear for your thoughts on it! Great video!
Ooh awesome and honestly while I never heard of this character it’s cool to see him back In my opinion.
Loved Veitch since I read The One back in the 80s, its great to see him return to possibly his best story. I wish him nothing but success and satisfaction, lord knows he deserves it.
Amen to that. And I genuinely believe this is one of his best pieces of work to date.
I had no idea this was a thing, and will be demanding a print of my own through your link
I love me some Veitch. And I highly recommend "Man of Steel Woman of Kleenex" It provides context and is an extremely funny essay
Thank you!

What in the name of the Kirby crackle? Also, good morning!
Good morning!
This is the only book in the BP saga that I haven't read
Brat Pack might be "skippable" in terms of direct narrative continuity, but it's the foundation of the whole thing thematically, no?

Love to see the enthusiasm!
What is that music?
This is Volume 2? Brat Pack is Vol.4? What's supposed to be Volume 3?
That would be the forthcoming True-Man. Although, I'm not sure that will be the exact title.
Wait there a new story?
So it's era appropriate. 🤣
I hate art and story!
'Maximmortal' is one of the worst comics I have ever read. So no. I'll be skipping out on this series
