BTW. Thanks Pierre for sharing your experience with the smartwave boats. I have been watching your videos and you have convinced me that it's the boat I want. Hope to see you out on the water some time. Cheers.
Good stuff. You make it look easy. When I bought a jetski I decided to try jigs instead of bait. Have had good success with Shimano bottom ship red/gold, and ocean angler slider bruised banana. Rarely catch small fish - even though the hooks are small. 60 or 80gm probably the trick in under 25m and 100gm in 30m with current. If nothing else a good backup when the bait runs out. Back boating again, and looking forward to some warmer weather on the Hauraki. Fish on!
Hi John, thanks for the positive feedback. I do carry softys for emergency, but so far am managing with dead bait. Sponsored by TopCatch Half Moon Bay :)
the price of bait these days i would be keeping those kahawhai for bait ,im having great success with it on the kontiki as well as on the boat,, scale them and take the fillets off out there and freeze fillets flat in a plastic bag
Typical Auckland - too many small fish these days. This fishery is a sad shadow of its former self I suspect. Was checking out the Smartwaves at the last boat show. Tough, easy care. They look good. Thanks for the video.
Hi Pierre, have chatted on instagram, you mentioned the vertical poles here for the t-top, looks like they are removable, I can’t quite tell how. Did you add that yourself?
Hello Shane, the four main poles are each in two pieces in the kit. I trimmed a few inches off the bottom of each pole to ensure the tops were not any higher than the grab rail over the windscreen. (To fit in my garage.) the top half of each pole is supposed to have a small screw to hold it in place permanently. I drilled a hole through both the top and bottom poles and use a spring clip. Check out one of my early videos, I have shown this clip. Again, thanks for the interest in the channel
Oh man! Those are fat kahawais. I actually prefer kahawai to snapper. Bleed and cut out the blood lines, grilled in cajun spices and that is a kings dinner to me 😊
I could cook you a kahawai and i bet you would love it and if your low on bait cant go wrong with fresh kahawai man you need to do some home work on this underrated fish and its not the only fish i can catch ether Taranaki fisho

Thanks Christopher, see you on the water
Hi Christopher, OutSmart is now on the market. (On TradeMe.) I’m moving to a slightly larger boat, on the marina.

Cheers Robin. I miss my SmartWave, it’s a perfect boat for a short handed fisherman
@@ptrollip1 So you sold it for another boat? Any particular reason?
Financial - I’m a pensioner now.
@@ptrollip1 ah yes. I’m well acquainted with that condition. And boats make for expensive fish. All the best. Cheers.
Thanks

That Kahawai was your best snapper bait bud
Yep, and now that my sponsor, TopCatch, is closed, I will need to catch my own bait. Hopefully later this week…
Do they have a live bait tank?
Hi there. Some do, but I don’t have one. Easy enough to fit one, I suspect.

Cheers Geoff and thanks for the advice. I must do a curry the next time I land a decent Kahawai
