I hold my breath whenever I see those monster waves building behind the IMOCAs. Just amazing footage and to be able to hear from the sailors onboard is so interesting. Matt, you are making the Vendée Globe more and more accessible to the sailing community! Thank you!
As a German I follow Boris as closely as I can; thanks for the clips on him. I hope he will be safe, avoid damage to Malizia and continue to catch up. As an old bloke of similar age I also try to keep up on Jean Le Cam, not to mention his heroics in searching and ultimately rescuing Kevin Escoffier 3 years ago are second to none (well Boris was involved in that mission as well). For those reasons I am a bit disappointed that he is only mentioned in passing at the end of the video; after all he is also the leader of the non foilers. Imho the old war horse deserves more shelf space. I would welcome a special on him.
Matt Sheehan.. excellent update thanks. Im sure there will be another look & see ( one design Mast ), the continued bashing and speeds being maintained. Excellent to see the upbeat attitude from the sailors... Gawd the ongoing work from Pip is a testament to not only her but also a reflection of what all of the boats are being put through.. maybe there is a lifecycle limitation on the older boats. MERRY XMas all, tight lines, fair winds and seas & take care.
Matt, we are all praying Pip will not suffer any more difficulties as she approaches the intense high on her way to Melbourne. Such an unfortunate incident, yet her spirit has risen towards this occasion. Sam Davies is such a professional sailor and we are wishing her well.
It's really tremendous the quality of the footage and access to the skippers. (I remember when email was first available, I had a long campaign for my company to adopt it, or at least give it to me). Thank you for this free access footage for which I assume we also thank the sponsors:-)
I enjoyed watching many diverse skipper's dialogues about their individual problems and different situations. Thank you for your good videos and comments which is interesting and educational to me . I'm very interested in joining the community of Class 40 which i am considering to buy.
Thanks for your coverage. Not only AC should recruit you, but VG as well 👏. I hope we‘ll see some coverage about Justine Mettraux who does just fantastic on her first VG ever.
I heard her say "jury rig" and thought.. wait.. isn't that "jerry rig"? Nope. jury rig is the nautical term for an improvised sail, and the latter seems to be related to the former and well as possibly "jerry-built". Learn something new every day.

To wear or not to wear a harness on these boats is a big topic of debate .......Some skippers believe that being dragged along behind at 20 knots doesn't offer much prospect of getting back on board
So sorry for Medallia and Pip Hare - such a first world problem. When placed in real contexts, these are just games that the most, most privileged people play to have fun. A million dollars here. A million dollars there. Imagine investing in something that could actually change the world for millions of people.
It was always going to be luck that des ides this race! If you lose a foil it's down to luck, masts breaking, and can not be forseen. Life's a bitch then you get marrisd! Doh

Fantastic, gripping, reporting. Thank you!
Im glad Pip Hare is ok. The devestation in her voice and manner is heartbreaking.
Matt, thanks for the great update. Gripping stuff and great storytelling.
Great coveridge of the facts. Thx a lot! And good luck and fair winds to everyone!

I can't believe what I just watched; racing singlehanded on foils in the Southern ocean! I haven't been out of the sailing loop for that long.
Thanks for the mast load analysis and rule change info. Very insightful.
one arm, I am a sailer who lost use of my left arm, I could never sail now. GOOD MAN

I love your videos, not too technical, not too simplistic.
Of all the status updates, I liked the one from Boris, talked weather, and sail plan all business
A great explanation about OD masts, and class rule change in 2025. Thanks once again, Matt!
A pleasure Nick
These sailboats are the coolest looking things in the world. I would LOVE to go sailing on one of these bad boys! Yes sir ree!
Your weekly updates are the best
Well done planet sail. Great story telling! 👍
Lots of feeling surfacing here after my GSC attempt last year. Itching to get back. Love seeing the southern ocean again..hehe
Excellent Reporting. Thank you so much 👍
Great summary 👏👏
I Love It! Stormy Monday !!!
Thanks for your coverage. Not only AC should recruit you, but VG as well 👏.

Holy smokes, things are getting intense with the teams!
The images tell it all..........❤
These sailors are truly remarkable people.
The sailors have amazing endurance 😮
Best updates, vielen Dank!👍
WELL DONE ALL VENDEE GLOBERS............KEEEEEEEP SAILING!!!!
love the simulated graphics
Take care Boris🎉🎉🎉🎉
Could almost taste the joy of that guy when he fixed the rail on the top of the mast
Puzzled: he's on starboard jibe, so why is his broken starboard foil a problem that lets his competition sail past him?
Bon courage tu est la meilleure 😂
Merveilleux. Bom vents
pretty amazing...
amazing humans!
Wishing all these crazy Magnifique sailors a fast but safe Joyeux Noel❤😅
Incredible
Her boat has been dismasted twice in these two Vendée Globes; what is she doing wrong ?x
When showing the leaderboard you skipped position from 10th to 20th. Any specific reason or just a forgetfulness? Best regards

Wish I was there

Brave lady Pip: safe landfall.

Within a couple days everyone looks ten years older and stressed and depressed and regretting it
No harness on bow not so smart with only one hand to grab that rail! One odd wave or swell and your gone!
To wear or not to wear a harness on these boats is a big topic of debate .......Some skippers believe that being dragged along behind at 20 knots doesn't offer much prospect of getting back on board
@@PlanetSailOnline Good point! Valid! Sobering, I see why they like not to go on bow as little as they can!
They should maybe create some tech that turns the boat to wind if the crew falls in
💚🌹
wow, the Chinese guy!!!!!!! Wow
😢
Jean l'homme magnifique
獨臂鐵漢徐京坤加油!

This is 2 days after the event !!!!!!
The clue's in the title......'Week 6 Review'

Oh no ! Australia ,,that poor woman,,dismasted Then Forced to go to aussie ,,terrible news,,,
very few actual footage, only random fills. Just the typical worthless Vebsdee Globe video. Gosh this race is uninteresting.
But here you are commenting and adding to the algorithm.
You'll rise to the challenge again I'm sure Pip, chin up, legends don't quit
