I’m a 68 year old woman and I used to go out to lunch myself prior to cell phones and loved it! I would seat myself facing the crowd and people watch. Now I have a phone, but still like to eat on my own.
I got rid of my cellphone 7 years ago. Best thing I ever did. Bring a book if you can’t just sit with your thoughts and observe everything around you. That to me is part of the problem these days.
I made myself go out and eat alone after the ex left. This was 20 years ago. It was something I really enjoyed, and I didn’t want him to take everything from me. Happily remarried.
Me three...never had an issue eating out alone but am not a counter person. I'll talk to people wherever I go but, sometimes, I've just had enough of people and just want to be by myself and have no problem with that whatsoever. :)
Nsh. Ive never felt like a loser. Even without a phone or newspaper Ive always felt comfotable. Kind of like it. I eat and read etc. with no one pestering me. Yup
I eat alone all the time. And have travelled across the country alone. I’ve got no problem with it. I almost prefer it because I’m not concerned with making sure the other person is happy.
I have zero issues eating alone and i don't use my cell phone as a companion. I sure don't want to sit at a counter fighting for elbow room with strangers. They need to let George talk more without interrupting and reel Mark back in. Shish, he dominates EVERY episode!
After cleaning the house on a Saturday, I'd take myself down to the mexican joint with a book and sit there, eat and drink margaritas until I was done. It was fun....
I have gone into restaurants alone way before the inventions of cell phones. 61 years old here. The fact is, sometimes people are alone and they still want to eat out. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. I'll even get a table by myself if I choose to. If you are afraid to go out to dinner by yourself because you worry about how it looks to other people, that is a sign of low self-esteem.
I would eat by myself before cell phone days. It is nice ti do things on your own at times. Just like going to the movies by yourself. It is okay to do things alone.
Like George, I spent yrs traveling for work mostly solo always eating out. Never bothered me because many folks were doing the same. Now on a weekend, that’s a little different. But still, I could really careless as long as the food was good!
I enjoy my company, I don't mind doing things alone. However, it's strange for me to do that now, since I got married and have a large family now. But I still enjoy me time!
I can dig what Scott is saying but I say F it....and F anyone who thinks you're anything, just enjoy yourself...life is too short. As a VERY grumpy but VERY happy friend of mine always says "F them all..." haha XD
You guys are funny. What I love about having a cell phone. Is that i've got my business in my hand, Game to play, Check on my schedule, make phone call.Text.People that I need to get ahold of and then I've been putting off.I like being able to do business and get there.Sit down and get things accomplished if i'm by myself. I don't feel silly.I don't feel alone I don't feel like something's wrong with me because nobody's with me, Just live in my life doing what I do. Even if I've taken somebody somewhere and I'm waiting for them in the car.I have things to do and stuff.I can accomplish and i've never just sitting there staring off in the space. No I think so.Phones contribute a lot to our lives.Because my whole life is on that phone so I can get things done, Or just dinner's myself.😂
I try to revive the "seemingly lost art", when I eat alone to try to interact with someone else, and have a nice conversation. Several years ago, after conversing with one gentleman, he told me, "I'm one of John Wayne's bastard children", my immediate response, "I believe you, you look exactly like him". He then told me, "I have won 5, of 6 bets at $500 each, when I told people that, I proved it because I have my dad's drivers license, and birth certificate". You never know who you can meet, by striking up a good, and engaging conversation with them!
I don’t remember going out to eat alone pre-cellphones. After my divorce back in 2010, I sometimes go out to eat alone and definitely take my cellphone and tablet to try to get some work done whether at a table or the counter but most times I just get my orders to go and eat alone at home. At times it is depressing seeing all the couples and families out enjoying each others company but other times, I just want good food and to eat in peace and quiet. One benefit of eating alone and working with a cell and tablet is I can write it off as a business expense as several people will come to talk to me (because people are curious) and I can promote my real estate business. 😂🤗😉
1) Eating alone, nothing wrong with eating alone especially if you work on the road or out of the Country, gives you peace of mind & enjoy your own company without any distractions. 2) Sleep on it, can be a helpful strategy when you need to make a decision or solving problems, the opposite is "knee jerk reaction" could be costly without thinking it through also driven by emotions-
Honestly? Eating in a restaurant by yourself is totally fine! In my entire life (57 years) I've never heard anyone say you're a loser if you dine out alone! That is just ridiculous. What a stupid topic, Scott! Nobody fucking cares if someone is dining out alone.
@@FroggyGirl90210 ....Plus, the children these days are way different from my gen (GenX). These kids these days are too soft and everything is about their feelings. They're too sensitive and out of touch when it comes to the "real world" reality of plain old struggles of the world! Too lazy, complainers and spoiled. It's like having a rich spoiled fat kid that has everything.... And does absolutely nothing but complain and bitch about how hard life is because nobody listens to them!!!!
I didn't know I was pathetic eating out alone LMAO, I find it peaceful. But, men & women are completely different. Men more self-conscious? I'm with the wine drinking man...I hate counters. "Counter is cool" - SB LOL...no it's naked...I agree with "George" the wine drinking guy. :) By 6 mins, I IDENTIFY WITH GEORGE. Depends on the situation if I can sleep on it or stew. I am a WOMAN....Walking in alone makes me feel empowered & secure. This was funny....Thanks!

I don't like watching people eat 😂 food in their mouth while they talk. I like it by myself. 😅 I couldn't figure out why I was waking up so tired. I put up a camera and was surprised that I was up every hour messing with the tv,, walking around, and just getting in and out of bed. I lock my door now 😅
Bring a book, whatever you want to read, it’s not pathetic unless you are pathetic. Then you won’t go out alone because you’re afraid of looking pathetic.
What you boys talking about Willis? I subscribed and liked. Now I'm gonna find someone not liberal and gives a shit to share this too. Peace 🙏 and love.
Oh Mark, Mark, Mark! Such a chauvinist. Has to put everything on an appearance level & point out if the person is attractive or not. Let's have an episode where Mark keeps his mouth shut & George does all the talking. George is far more logical & reasonable. Team George!
Come visit at Wheat +Water, Bradenton , and sit at the bar for dinner. I's as good as sitting at a diner counter except I'm Bartending and serving you.

I don't think its pathetic AT ALL to go to a restaurant alone and read a newspaper some people like being alone and its very relaxing !!
I made myself go out and eat alone after the ex left. This was 20 years ago. It was something I really enjoyed, and I didn’t want him to take everything from me. Happily remarried.
I will happily sit at a table and eat alone in peace in a restaurant. I don't feel self conscious about it at all.
😂 Cafe solo. The premise sounds like a Seinfeld episode! Well done George!!
Thanks, tdunph! I will make it happen one day.
Scott is still so beautiful even after all these years
It's nice to go out to eat Alone I take my book and read it relaxing 😊
You need to tell this to widows/ers that feel lonely eating alone.

Mark immediately goes to "serial killer". Gotta love it!

Love George’s idea!
Thanks, Blair!

Me in the breakroom in 2005 reading the same magazines for 3 months...
I have eaten alone once.. It's not bad. I actually enjoyed it, lol

This convo cracked me up. I'm not one to got to a restaurant by myself. It would be to go.
You could talk about anything. I just dig it........

I'm a fat unattractive person and have no issue going out alone...so put that in your cigar and smoke it
I go out to eat alone all the time.
Me 2
When I go out to eat it’s usually by myself. First couple of times eating alone was awkward.
Now? Too easy.
This was hilarious! 😆

You guys crack me up. Great talking to you on the phone a couple of weeks ago. A memory made forever. BLESSINGS FROM KENTUCKY.
Hi Rob, good chatting with you too.
I'm terrified of eating/licking an ice cream cone, alone or not alone, in public.... Let alone, eating alone!

I agree with George
Thats nothing new to me goin out to eat alone I have no family left Ive always needed solitude since I was very young
Me too I am in the field for work so I always eat lunch alone
One doesn’t have to be consumed with people around them to feel important.
I'm in that group wandering around aimlessly lololol

Thank you, holistic. (Oh wait, you weren’t talking to me…)

Scott how is someone an idiot reading a news paper alone at a restaurant? Some people are ok with eating alone.
Cellphones have become an addiction. It’s not healthy, children unalive themselves due to bullies, harassment, etc.
A phone doesn’t make you something, no cellphone doesn’t make you a looser. It’s confidence in self.
Yes I sleep on it. I sleep, because I talked to God & leave it at the cross.

eat alone at sports bars alone a lot..main use of a cell phone is killing time when you are early for dr appointments between rooms and such.
CELL PHONES ARE "IRRITATING"!
I agree with george
Thanks, Lorri. I need all the support I can get.
I do not mind eating alone no one to talk to me trying to eat.I hate talking with food in a mouth.

Going to the movies alone saddens me for the individual in that situation
Why? Haha ! No different than watching TV alone. You are there to watch a movie and not carry any conversation anyway hahahah
I wish I liked Mark...but he's such a conversation hog
