I try not to special order in the drive through except for the Cobb salad at chick-FIL-a. No tomatoes extra balsamic vinaigrette. I once got the wrong salad at chick-FIL-a and did not notice until I got home. Called the store to let them know. They asked me to come back right away and they would give me the correct salad for free. Got there and the manager met me with my correct salad AND a free brownie for my trouble. Just love chick-FIL-a customer service. It’s really the only fast food I’ll eat now and it’s always either the Cobb salad or the spicy chicken sandwich with waffle fries.
I think you should never order anything special at a fast food place. They are fast food and you should never challenge them to do anything different. If you don't like the menu item then get some other menu item. Great conversation gentlemen.
I never want to cause a problem & piss people off who are preparing my food so I don't special order & don't complain if they leave something off my order. My food is sacred to me & I don't need pissed off workers spitting in my food, adding "things" to it, dropping it on the ground, etc. If u play nice, they play nice.
Mark is right mistakes happen & any good business would make it right & happily give him a milkshake and an apology. I think the most common special order is French fries no salt so you get fresh hot fries (I once worked Arby’s)
@@pamelautopianchoices7598thatt That's interesting, because when I order one, they usually put on way too much Tarter Sauce for my taste. It's practically swimming in sauce... No pun intended. 😊
I think it depends how busy the drive thru is. If it's a slow day you could probably do a special order but if there are several cars behind you and more people end up special ordering because they heard you ask for one, then it could make for longer wait times and more stress for the workers. Fast food is meant to be fast and I think to keep up the pace they got a system going of putting "as is" orders in that would get slowed down if everyone asked for special changes to their food. At a restaurant you can ask for more changes to the food because it comes across as more of a private request and most of the other tables aren't going to overhear you and get the idea to make special requests for their food, even if they're allowed to. Efficiency is one of the things valued when going out to eat. I've never even worked at a fast food place but this is how I see it.
those were the days...going to a drive thru and Marks reaction....priceless. I would always change things on my order and he did an ok job tolerating it, but I'm just as stubborn as he is. I agree with all of Scotts comments on this segment. 😁
Ok I've seen a couple comments about restaurant workers spitting in food. I've worked the restaurant business for 30 years and I have never seen that happen. If i did, I would make sure that person got fired on the spot. One thing I've never done is take out my frustrations on the customers food, ever! I take food safety seriously and I put it above all else. Maybe it happens, but not on my watch. Yes special orders slow us down, but if you know what you're doing it doesn't have that big of an effect on overall service. Order it how you want, and if that restaurant can't handle it, go somewhere else. Not to mention, nowadays everything you do is on camera, and you never know if you're being watched. Doing that, spitting, can land you in jail. Its assault. I just don't think it's as common as people think it is.
True story, I never eat fast food but one late night after work I decided to go through the drive thru of Jack in a box and get a hamburger. I got home and took a bite and it was beyond awful, I couldn’t figure it out. I pulled the bun off and both top and bottom were burnt blacker than black, blacker than coal, blacker then a freshly tarred street. This was no accident. I was so pissed I emailed them and they sent me a gift card.
I have been a cook for 35+ years and it’s sad to say that fast food establishments will sometimes give you a little “extra” depending on how much you nit pick your order. They figure they aren’t paid enough for you to have it your way. 😢
I'm kinda with another commentor on here for the most part. I don't usually special order from fast food unless it's Hardees usually. I don't like their stock buns so I always order say a mushroom and swiss or other burger either on a sesame seed bun or their texas toast, their regular buns aren't good in my opinion nor are their pickles but I usually just take those off. And our Chick-fil-A here almost always gets the order right but they have messed it up a bit a couple times, nobody's always perfect but they get it right probably 98% of the time. The other fast food restaurants on the other hand leave something out or give you something you didn't order probably 50% of the time. Most of the fast food places here almost always screw something up and yes, we call and tell them about it if we don't catch it before we leave because they do it so often. Chick-fil-A is an exception.
Hold the pickles. Hold the lettuce. Special orders don’t upset us. All we ask is that you let us have it your way. I can’t be the only one who thought of that when watching this. So funny. Lol
I worked for McDs in Highschool. I fried my onions for the quarter pounder and now in and out burger had a impossible burger that is amazing. Dude had to stay away from this channel he is having a hard time quitting his cigars lol… I love it my girls and I are doing a channel and we enjoy this.
This one made me laugh a lot. I have a speech impediment, so when it comes to drive throughs, my hubby does the ordering. His ability to speak is totally awesome, YET some of these people who works at these fast-foods places still don't get the order right. I am sickly allergic to cheese, it makes me vomit. It's a burden both to my husband and I when they don't get it right. Once in a great while, our situation gets a little comical, he went to a pizza place one time to bring home some pizzas for us. When he ordered one for me without cheese, the poor young person was totally loss and confused and told my hubby to wait for a few minutes, as this person needed to ask the boss, IF this was legal? 😂 When the boss gave the YES answer for them to make pizza with NO cheese on it, THEN we got our pizzas with no problems...this time. We also like to eat at Chick-Fil-A, we go inside to eat there. Yes, they are good in keeping the orders straight for us, but rarely ever the name. They have about 4 -5 different names under my poor hubby's account. One of them is Carol, and under that name, they'll talk to me, not him, when it comes to making sure their service to us was OK...oy. 😀Once in a while, we'll go to a nice restaurant to eat, one of our favorites is Texas Roadhouse. I LOVE to order a steak, well done, and with the mushrooms and onions added on top of it. 🥰🥰🥰😁 I really do believe that if these fast food places, with their drive throughs didn't do any special orders for their customers, a LOT of them would have had to closed down their business many years ago...even decades ago. Not a smart way to do things in this line of work. There's too many people in this world who truly NEED their food prepared in a special order, such as I do...whether it be cheese or something else; my hubby always has the onions left out.
The reason we are here I believe is to work on ourselves/souls!! Kind of like what Scott said about the nuns… I have read a lot about this and near death experiences etc.…and I see it as a stairway and when you do good you go up A step if you do bad you go down a step… The idea is to grow and be a better person by the time you die/that’s what I call Christianity believing in Jesus he shows you how to better yourself!! if you ask him to if you believe he died and rose again!!🤷♀️
I don’t love it because of who I grew up with. I kiss no ones ass. I am and always be happy with my Italian man and he loves me as his blonde. We grew up with you. I laugh my ass off and our values are similar on many things…. I like this and am doing this with my girls and neighbors soon. Point of view is seriously fun! Proud of you!
Whitecastle burgers/sliders were difficult to special order, for example without onions, as the onions were minced so tiny, it would be a tedious task for them to cook individually on a grill soaked in tiny onions. So you just ordered and got the hell out. But these little burgers were delicious. Harold & Kumar were spot on
Good topic this week. I am with you Scott, I special order at drive thru's. My husband doesn't and it's always a big deal with my order, so he orders his and then I have to yell across the way since I'm in the passenger's seat and I specify my order and then have them read it back to me. I don’t think anybody should eat in any fast food place specially today there’s plenty good delicious in Brooklyn, Staten Island now that I’m in Jersey to take home pop a good bottle of wine and you’ll be good food I can’t even think about fast food today to put in my mouth. When I order Fries at In-N-Out, I ask them to cook them well done. Otherwise they're too limp.

The Filet of fish IS good at McDonald's. ❤
I am vegetarian now b4 that my thing was always extra sauce on the fish sandwhich and if the steamer on the bun wasn’t working I hated it
