I will do this as soon as the tapo camera I ordered arrives also I just want to ask if the recording of the tapo camera is in the hikconnect app or in the tapo app? do i need to buy a seperate microSD card for tapo cam or the recording is in the DVR? TYIA.
When using the Tapo camera as a standalone device, recordings are managed through the Tapo app, and a microSD card is required for local recording. However, if you integrate the Tapo camera with the Hikvision DVR, you can view the camera feed through the Hikconnect app, and the DVR will store the recordings, eliminating the need for a microSD card in the Tapo camera.
Good informative video. What model of DVR is this ? How many IP cameras can it record ? Will the Tapo C100 camera still require micro-SD card after it is connected to this ?
Howcome mine DVR model: MyCam380v there no other option of protocol to choose? only got HIKVISION one? No have ONVIF for me to select. Anyone can help?
If it's a DVR,then it supports only one IP camera other than the standard cameras.....but if u get an NVR,then it will support all the cameras depending upon the channel...i.e if it's 8ch,then upto 8 cams and if it's 16ch,then upto 16cams
If your TP-Link Tapo WiFi camera shows "Offline (Network Abnormal)" when attempting to add it to a Hikvision DVR via ONVIF, the issue may stem from improper settings or network mismatches. First, confirm that ONVIF is enabled in the Tapo camera settings via the Tapo app under Advanced Features. Ensure the camera's IP address is in the same range as the Hikvision DVR (e.g., both should be 192.168.x.x). When adding the camera to the DVR, use the correct ONVIF port (typically 80 or 8080), along with the camera’s ONVIF username and password. Ensure the camera and DVR are connected to the same network. If the camera is still offline, check for potential network issues such as weak WiFi signals or blocked ONVIF ports by your router firewall. You can test the camera's connectivity by pinging its IP address from a PC. If supported by the camera, enable RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) in addition to ONVIF and configure the DVR to add the camera using its RTSP URL as a custom stream. Updating the firmware of both the DVR and the camera can also improve compatibility and resolve potential bugs. If the problem persists, reset the camera to factory settings, re-enable ONVIF, and try the setup again. Some compatibility issues may exist between Tapo cameras and Hikvision DVRs, so checking with TP-Link and Hikvision support for specific limitations or firmware updates is recommended. Additionally, refer to the manuals for both devices to ensure all settings are configured correctly for ONVIF integration.
@@Techlogics Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. That is so kind of you! I have a C520WS 1.0 Tapo. Tapo camera IP is 192.168.x.x.... but my Hik network IP is 24.x.x.x.... I'm assuming that's the issue. I can't seem to change the IP on the Tapo camera. I don't have the option on the Tapo App. Is there any other way around this that you know of to get this to work. Someone said about MAC address on the router in another forum. But this is all a bit beyond me. I know I'm asking a lot for another reply.. but if you can spare a few minutes... Thanks again for an informative post and awesome reply!!
Hi, great turltorial. I have a question... Is the onvif username and password sp3cific for each tapo cam? Like, each camera can have different username and pw? Or multiple tapo cam can be under one onvif account?
Is the event/motion detection also works in the NVR?
Excellent video! The second method worked for me for Dahua NVR
what model of Hikvision DVR are you using? thanks

So even if its a 8ch DVR or NVR, you can still add more cams than 8 ??
