    I got a couple of questions if you don't mind. What about the fuel filter why didn't you change it while you were working on the car??? How often do you need to change the oil and filter???? Didn't you use any anti-sieze lube on the spark plug threads??? I'm sure the head is aluminum.
    .
    Great how to video

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CanadianCharlie64 thanks for taking the time to comment buddy, glad you enjoyed the video. The fuel filter was changed on this particular car not too long prior to the filming of this video, this was before I had the channel uploading regular content. The Kia specified Service interval for the Picanto (all engines) is 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever is sooner. Anti-seize lube such as copper grease or similar is a very contentious subject, particularly regarding spark plugs. I do not use it in this application as the plugs are torqued to spec and adding any form of lubricant affects the torque applied. Naturally there will be others who’s opinion will differ and that is fine however I prefer not to. Hope this answers your question. Please consider subscribing for future content, it really does help the channel grow! Regards.

    Do you have to change and anneal the sump plug washer every time when changing the oil? Great vid 👍

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Annealing is really only necessary if you plan to reuse a copper washer, this process makes them as good as new again. Aluminium washers are a one shot deal and should be discarded and replaced every time.

      There is a drain plug on the underside of the gearbox, you can refill the gearbox through the dipstick tube to be honest! It takes about 3.5 litres of ATF. If after filling it feels like it’s struggling to pull away then top it up a bit more! 👌🏻

    Excellent . BUT on mine I found the HT leads plug caps were so tight in the head that one broke the rubber insulation removing it. Very annoying. So beware when removing plug caps. Also my oil filter had been installed by a gorilla the garage last time. Needed to use brute force on the chain wrench.

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, to be fair that actually happened with this car too, but the plug caps are only crimped onto the lead, if it happens again then it's fairly easy to recrimp them back on again!

    Hi there,
    Does the Picanto need 10/40?
    Got a Picanto 1.0 from 2010 and it should get 5w30 (Kia dealer told me ) but i´m using Shell Helix Ultra 5W40
    What´s the benfits of using 10/40?
    Greeetz from the Netherlands

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate! In a nutshell, the two numbers mean the viscosity of the oil at cold and hot temperatures. The first number being cold and the second hot. Naturally the climate that the vehicle is being operated in would have an effect but to be fair, you would likely have no noticeable effect in using 05/40 or 10/40 in the Netherlands.
