I forgot to mention that I had HDCP turned off which could also be interfering with your output. If you disable it, your screen should work. Just remember that if you won’t be able to stream Spotify and play at 120hz with this method as Spotify requires HDCP to be on
Thanks for the reply. Can I check if yours is still working? I still can’t get mine to work. Very frustrating as warzone update today will allow support for 120hz on ps5. Would love to get it working for this.
@@Salsyoutube mine works still, I still have to use the emulator and I still have to have HDCP off and 1080p mode on to make it work. Warzone at 120fps is great, even modern warfare multiplayer runs at 120fps and it’s sweet, I hope you get it to work!

Mate you are a legend!!!! Ive had the adapter for ages now and that error came up so just left it, all this time I could of just down down x 😂 thank you ❤️
😂 8k 🧐 ohhh man 2 more next gen consoles then the silly graphics cards will maybe do 8k 30fps efficiently lol like I said man I’ll make do with 1440p but give me 240 hz (or at least high hundreds!)
8k and 4k is useless on a monitor for games. 2k 120hz is less demanding and more than clear enough for shooting moving blobs on screen. What siting distance you have should influence your purchase of pixel count not just pixel count.
Official 1440p support is coming soon! It is in beta right now but it should be coming to all PS5s relatively soon. If you haven’t already, I’d advise not buying the adapter right now and just waiting to see if your monitor will allow 1440p 120hz without the adapter. If not, then you can buy it and change resolution to 1440p and enjoy the high refresh, high resolution image you paid for!
Hi Captain Sweat, i got this Edid today and had problems with it, then i found your video, my display wasnt out of range anymore but when i go into a game and try to enable the 120 fps mode my monitor is out of range again. i really hope that you can help me because it is veryy frustrating.
why do you need an adapter to run 1080p 120hz on a 1440p monitor when its supported natively? just plug in the ps5 and select 1080p and performance mode. I thought the purpose of this adapter is to run 4k down scaled on a 1440p monitor?
It works for some monitors and some monitors downscale the 4K to 1440p, but some monitors (like mine) say that the monitor does not support a 4K input and it black screens. You need to remember which buttons to press to change the resolution from automatic to 1080p, and then you enter performance mode. It’s weird and I don’t know why it is this way, I hope Sony just adds support to 1440p so people don’t waste time and money.
@@lunchmeat7495 I dont know the list, but it’s monitors that can handle a 4K input and show that on a 14400 screen. My monitor can’t do that because it says input out of range, hence why I change resolution to 1080p
I forgot to mention the HDCP in the video, I pinned a comment and wrote it in my description though so I hope people read those. I’m glad it helped, enjoy the 120hz!!
I’m trying out the Ezcootech 4K downsampler splitter. Apparently, according to someone on Reddit, if you turn the downscaler off it allows the PS5 to pass through a native 4K signal to your 1440p monitor, which is my goal. Yours being 120hz. I’m not concerned about 120hz, since no game on PS5 will ever likely support 120FP. The only issue is not every monitor is the same so it may not downscale the 4K signal appropriately. I’m hoping mine does!
I tried using a 4K splitter but it didn’t work well for me and it did nothing new that this Edid didn’t. I still had to play at 1080p 120hz. I love the 120fps tho, many of the games I play have it like Vanguard, Warzone, Doom Eternal, Fortnite, and Rocket League. It makes a huge difference, way more than a resolution bump to 1440p. That’s not an excuse for Sony though, they need to add native 1440p support!
I'll have to try this. I was originally gonna buy that exact one so my PC doesn't freak out when I switch HDMI ports on my switcher, but I saw reviews on the page about using it for this purpose. My 1440p monitor can already take a 4K signal and down sample it to 1440p, but 120hz doesn't work, and 1080p at 120hz doesn't work either, so hopefully this does the trick, because I bought two of them lol.
Just incase make sure you buy one what is specifically 4k. I didnt understand and bought a 1200p one so did not work. Just making it clear as its not specifically said in the video
I said that my monitor is 1440p and this is a fix for some monitors that are not 4K. Sony enables 120hz on all 4K monitors by default, hence why you need the emulator. However some monitors can’t handle a 4K input, hence why you have to lower the resolution with the screen not working. This video exists to help people that don’t have a 4K monitor, people who do have one don’t need to watch this as they don’t have this issue
Holy shit it worked this $20 HDMI emulator converter worked my monitor is LG 32GK650F-B 32 1440p 144 HZ but since Sony doesn't support 1440p I couldn't get the 1080p 120hz to work so I had to buy this and it works and I'm happy it works with my new capture card as well. My capture card is AVerMedia Live Gamer ULTRA - 4Kp60
No worries, I also felt awful when mine didn't work so I wanted to share a solution I found with everyone else. Glad it worked and enjoy high fps gaming!
@@haydendesira7026 if your monitor is not capable of 120hz then no. This is only useful if your monitor is capable of 120hz or higher but it doesn’t work on your PlayStation for some reason. However if your monitor is only 60hz then this will not increase refresh rate w
I've got the same monitor and Evanlak hdmi adapter and I've followed your instructions but I still get the display out of reach on a black screen?? What could be the issue?
I have the LG 27 inch ultra gear nano ips quad hd monitor. It accepts the 4k signal from my PS5 over HDMI 2.0. On my monitor I guess it's automatically downscaling to 1440p. HDR is off to get 120hz out of games like Warzone. I can see the difference between resolutions like 1080p to 4k, but 1440p to 4k on small screens I can't. Honestly resolution mode on PS5 could be better. 30 Fps just ain't good no more unless your eyes just really lazy and can't tell the screen is super slow. I run performance mode on ever game I've played so far. Demon Souls, AC Valhalla, RE:Village, and a few old PS4 titles. These games run at 60fps performance mode at 4k. 30fps in resolution mode. Which looks good standing still are walking straight in a game, but the moment you start to swing that camera around the picture quality suffers greatly like sharpness turn all the way up on a old tv. A lot of this just depends on tech and developers. HDMI 2.1 is the new standard, pushing 4k at 60hz and at 120hz, depends on the monitor, tv, and the game. Over all I'm happy for now, but truly pc will be my next pursuit. Unless consoles give me full control over graphical settings in the games. Light texture detail, lighting, all the good stuff pc players brag about. Anyway hope my ranting helps.
Thanks for commenting, PC is and will always be capable of more than a console but a £450 machine will not run games the same way the PS5 will in 7 years time. Regardless I’m just glad that we have high refresh on console and Im trying to help anyone struggling with getting it to work
Quick tip turn off HDCP it’s in system settings under hdmi FIRST before you plug the Edid in then it works perfectly on my monitor 120fps is on and working for fortnite, vanguard ect while in gameplay
Are you sure your monitor supports 120hz? Turn off HDCP, make sure you’re in 1080p, if that doesn’t work try going into 720p and let me know what it says
@@captainsweat2527 I have the same problem. I tried putting it into 720p but the screen goes black whenever I try to open a game. My monitor supports 144 hz
Hi Cap, now that the 1440 update is out can you tell me if the emulator allows me to have 1440 at 120hz, i was looking at a HDMI2.1 cable to Displayport 1.4 powered off usb but this seems simpler if it works...? cheers.
Hey, now that the update is out, you don’t need to have the emulator at all to play 1440p 120hz, at least on my monitor. Maybe other monitors work differently, in which case you can try this emulator and change resolution to 1440p. Let me know how it goes
It’s a fix that worked for me, it sucks that we have to spend money on it because Sony should just support 120hz on all monitors. However in the meantime it is a worthwhile purchase. I hope it works for you, if not then reply and we’ll try to talk if we can fix it. If all fails you can try to return
I am not understanding this device, 2 questions: Can I use this device in my 3440x1440p that does not admits 4k, I dont care abojt the resolution just about the hz and my second question is if my monitor is not going to suffer any damage?
So I tried this out and yes it does allow me to change the resolution to 4k, but whenever I set it to 4k an annoying message pops up in the middle of the screen that says out of range. It displays the system and games, but this damn message is just constantly on screen. My monitor is a Pixio PX278
@@jojobrojo5062 the point of the Edid is to enable 120hz for monitors that support it, but for some reason doesn’t work on PlayStation. Unfortunately that can come at the trade off of being capped at 1080p like I am and many others are. There is another dongle that exists that makes it so you can play in 1440p as well as 120hz but that makes the total spent over £100 which isn’t worth it in my opinion.
@@captainsweat2527 oh well I heard that the evanlak I bought has been used to enable 4k on 1440p monitors. I guess my monitor is just strange or something.

Cold War on ps5 is already 120fps enabled. you dont need the extra hdmi piece for it to output that display. Try it in warzone on ps5 and prove it works
Whilst you’re right that Cold War is already 120fps enabled, Sony doesn’t recognise some high refresh monitors (mostly 1440p monitors) as high refresh so when you enter Cold War the 120hz mode is greyed out. This Edid emulator tricks the ps5 into thinking you have a 4K monitor which then lets you downscale to 1080p and enable 120hz, idk why Sony did it this way but I’m just sharing a fix that worked for me. As for warzone, its the PS4 version and a native ps5 version isn’t out yet so high refresh isn’t available yet (although it is on Xbox series X). When Raven drops a PS5 version with high refresh then I can send you a video in socials showing it works
I have a hdmi 2.1 and I still need the emulator. Whether you need the emulator and whether you need to downscale to 1080p depends entirely on your monitor
Which one do you have? I have the hp x27i, it has a ips panel. Model is 8GC08AA, 2019 version. I hear a lot of people have the hp 27xq which is the 2018 version with a tn panel. I'm just confused because at first glance there's not really a difference physically with the monitors. I'm able to get 1440p/60hz or 1080p/120hz on my Xbox Series S. Can't test my PS5 yet because I recently moved and it's back at my old place. Just wanted to know which version you have and if the newer version would make a difference?
I have the 27xq, I have zero idea what the difference is. Honestly I don't even know the difference between IPS and TN, although I want to learn. I'd assume that if its a newer one then it can't work worse than the older one? At least it should work the same as mine, with which you need to memorise the buttons to turn on 1080p so you can get an output. However, I cannot say as I do not have that exact monitor. Hope that helps
@@captainsweat2527 So I got ahold of my ps5 and tested it. I can get 120fps on games that support it (Cold War, Fortnite, etc.) without the adapter. It's misleading because in the settings it still only shows 1080p 60hz, but I can enable 120fps and play no problem. I think with the recent update they fixed it.
I have a 1440p monitor 144hz. but unfortunately in order for me to use that it has to go through the display port of my monitor and ps5 doesnt support display port. Do you think there exists some sort of adapter i can use so i can play 1440p 120hz?

I have it plugged into the PlayStation. The adapter does get hot but it feels about as hot as the hdmi when it was plugged into my PS4 slim which ended up not being an issue. However if you’re concerned about it don’t use it
Maybe. Some monitors are able to handle a 4K input and internally downscale it to 1440p for you. However, some, like mine, say input out of range which means you need to change it to 1080p, however this enables 120hz as it tricks your PS5 into thinking your monitor is 4K. I don't know why it works like that but PS5 doesn't enable 120hz on 1440p monitors even if they support 120hz.
@@captainsweat2527 just tried it and my monitor just says "The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 2560x1440, 60hz. Turned off hdcp too and still this.

So I want to play my ps5 at 120hz 1440p but ps5 doesn't support 1440p so whenever I turn on 120hz it changes the resolution to 1080p my monitor is a Dell S3220DGF 1440p 165hz monitor it has HDMI 2.0 and it accepts a 4k signal and downgrades it to 1440p. The ps5 is supposed to run 4k 120hz right? So shouldn't my monitor accept the 4k signal and downgrade it to 1440p and I can play my ps5 at 4k 120hz but be looking at 1440p? If I'm right and that should be the case why is it changing to 120hz 1080p? Do I need something like this?
It is supposed to run at 4k 120hz, I’m unsure why your monitor does that. I use emulator and have it at 1080p 120hz so I don’t want you to spend your money and find out you’re just achieving the same thing you already had because that’s a waste. It depends on the monitor, it seems like your monitor would be fine but again I don’t want you to waste your money. If the resolution downgrade doesn’t eat at you then I would just leave it and wait for official 1440p support.

My monitor and many monitors don’t allow it because Sony enables any 4K monitor to do 120hz but not every 1080p or 1440p monitor, hence the necessity of this emulator. You need to trick the ps5 into thinking your monitor is 4K to enable 120hz. It’s stupid but I cant use 120hz otherwise
Hi mate, after recent update, is there any way how to get 1440p 120hz? You already helped me with the adapter a year ago, just trying all my chances, got the same monitor

I've got the same monitor but it just dosent want to work, done the hovering but everytime I come back it's like I didn't even press a button. Any help?
When you get the display out of range, spam X a bunch. Then redo it. You might have to press x a lot of times because you need to calibrate the display when you plug a “new” one in (the console thinks of your monitor as new due to the emulator). Then try the whole process again
Hey, I have been using this since last April and I have never noticed any blurriness, however some people say that 1080p looks blurry on 1440p monitors so it might be a monitor thing. Most likely I'm just blind.
It’s in beta right now but I’m so excited for it to be official. It’ll invalidate this video’s existence, but to be fair it’s ridiculous that this video had to exist as a workaround for over a year before Sony got around to adding 1440p support
If your monitor can handle a 4K input and downscale it natively to a 1440p output then yes. My monitor can’t handle a 4K input so I have to go into change the settings to 1080p by memorising the buttons.
hey man i am so dump for this my english is pretty bad , i want downscale 1440p to 1080p whic edid emulator i should get evanlak 4k or 1080p ? thank you
Pretty sure the 4K one is cheaper for some weird reason? Are you also playing at 120hz? If yes then get the 4K one and do what I do in the video because, from what I understand, all 4K screens have 120hz enabled by Sony, but not all 1080p screens have 120hz enabled by sony, even if your monitor actually does support 120hz. It’s weird and that information is from what I researched a year ago, maybe that’s changed but to be safe get the 4K one. However, if you don’t play at 120hz, just change resolution in settings and save yourself the money

I would imagine it runs in 1440p 120hz on Xbox since Xbox supports 1440p, however, I don’t have one so I can’t guarantee it does. Also yeah it’s a good monitor when you get it for sale, lack of HDR hasn’t been a problem for me really. I honestly appreciate the lack of HDR so I don’t have to mess around with multiple brightness settings and the somewhat flatter colours of a non HDR screen keeps it more competitive. It depends on if HDR is important to you or not
I noticed the HDMI got hot but I wouldn’t mark it as much hotter than the HDMI in a PS4 after a long session. Tbf, only for rainbow six siege, my ps5 makes a weird noise like the fan is hitting against something but it’s only on r6 and not other games at 120fps so it’s probably something else and something minor.
It's the 27xq, it's a 27 inch 1440p 144hz and an advertised 1ms response, although that produces a lot of ghosting so I play on the default gaming setting with a slightly longer response time. It's good but I'm bummed that I can't do 1440p 120hz on ps5, especially since I also use it for my university work and QHD at 120hz is glorious! Hopefully Sony just add native support sooner rather than later
Quick question. What if the emulator isn’t working for me can I just unplug it and connect my hdmi back straight away without any problem ? What if it stays at 2160p and I just plug in my hdmi ? Will it automatically change ? Just curious
Hi, the PS5 registers different screens with different settings but always defaults to automatic. For example, if I plug in my TV, it automatically chooses 4k as that is what my TV can do, However I can manually choose 1080p. If I plug it into my monitor, it chooses 1080p automatically because that is the resolution it thinks my monitor is best for. However when I plug the TV back in, although it is 4K, it has remembered the screen and it is 1080p as that is what I last left it at. All of this is to say that you don’t have to worry. The emulator makes your PlayStation 5 think of it as a different screen, so if you unplug the emulator and do ps5 to monitor, it will remember what your last monitor settings were and work as it did. I know this because I constantly unplug my emulator and when I plug it back in, I don’t have to mess with the signal out of range thing because it’s remembered it as a setting for this “new” display, even though it’s the same monitor but the emulator tricks the PS5 into thinking it’s different. TL;DR - don’t worry, if your emulator doesn’t work then you can unplug it and it will go back to your previous monitor settings and work fine, just of course without 120hz.
Your monitor might be able to do it, ive seen TH-cam videos saying that their monitor allows it but mine unfortunately did not so I had to downscale. Still for high refresh I think it’s worth the loss in resolution.
Hello, i just bought Hp 27xq monitor, same as yours i think. and it didn't work 1080p 120hz so i need this emulator too. but i live in Turkey and i can't find this in my country. i should buy from abroad. my question is from where you bought this emulator. brand or model can you tell me? or which type emulator should be if you will answer i will be so happy. thank you so much for your video either
Hello. I got it from Amazon, link for which is in the description. If it does not come to your country, look for EVanlak hdmi Edid emulator (make sure it’s 4K UHD). If you can’t find it then look for any 4K UHD emulator
True but then you won’t get 120hz. For some reason Sony doesn’t unlock 120hz for certain monitors, especially if they’re 1440p. However, Sony allows it on all 4K monitors. This adapter makes your console think it’s 4K, which you might then have to lower to 1080p
Would this work on a monitor that has hdmi 1.4? I don't mind playing on 60hz on a console but from my understanding hdmi 1.4 monitors upscale 1080 to 1440p and could/is blurry. If i used this edid emulator would it then change it so it could downscale 4k to 1080p on my1440p monitor thus making it better quality than upscaling?
Hdmi 1.4 is limited to 1080p 120hz. If your monitor can handle a 4K input then it will keep it at 4k, 60hz which you’ll only see in 1440p. Basically you’ll have to do what I’m doing anyway to get 120hz but maxed out at 1080p. Only difference is, if your monitor still has an output with a 4K signal, you’ll just be able to change it to 1080p normally without dealing with this out of range crap that I dealt with. Hope this helps
I see what you’re asking now, sorry. If you’re not interested in frames per second, then your monitor MAY be able to internally downscale 4K to 1440p, in which case you’d have 1440p gaming. If you get a black screen or a signal error like I did, changing it to 1080p is just gonna put you back to square one as 1080p with or without this adapter is identical.
Hey, I have no idea because it’s monitor specific. Some monitors allow a 4K input and change it to 1440p output for you at both 120hz and 60hz. However, some monitors like mine don’t allow a 4K input and hence I can’t play 1440p on neither 120hz or 60hz. However, soon Sony will be adding 1440p support!
OK so my monitor is weird. It's "1440p", but it can(?) receive a 4k signal. What I'm trying to say is, with my PS4 Pro, it says "3840x2160". Do I still need an adapter or r if it fine?
Alright mate, I have the same 27xq monitor but the resolution doesn’t change after doing steps and I still have the black screen. Are there any any specific settings you have on the monitor, such as HP enhance or Gaming Free Sync etc. I have displayed the HDCP and it still doesn’t work.
I’m on gaming free sync but I don’t know if it makes a difference, HDCP should be off on the PlayStation. When you plug it in, the PlayStation registers it as a new display and he resolution on automatic hence why you have to change the resolution to 1080p. Maybe you pressed the wrong buttons and accidentally set it to 2160p? In that case hover over resolution, plug in the EDID, and try to select 1080p from memory (if it’s on 2160p then it should be X, up, X). If it still doesn’t work then let me know, we’ll see if we can get it fixed

It depends on if your monitor can handle a 4K input. If it can and just displays the 4K signal on your 1440p screen then yes. However it may not accept a 4K input like my monitor, which is why it gives me an out for range message. Because of this I’m gaming at 1080p 120hz. Tldr - it depends on if your monitor allows it but there’s no way to know without trying. Hope this helps
@@captainsweat2527 ok so I got it. And it looks amazing but the problem is the color format is different and the color of the monitor is only green instead of displaying normal colors(basically the screen has a green tint) any tips?
Hi, I have no idea if this will work with specific monitors other than mine. I’m just someone who had a problem and shared the solution that I found but I cannot guarantee it helps everyone. There are other TH-cam videos on this Edid emulator, try checking those to see if someone did it with LG.
Hi, if you have the same monitor as me (HP 27xq) then it won't handle a 4K signal, so no, you will not be able to play at 4K or even at 1440p since Sony does not support 1440p. However, you will be able to play at 1080p 120hz. It's not every game, it's a certain list of games. From the games I play, 120hz is supported by all of Modern Warfare which includes Warzone; Cold war; Rainbow Six Siege; Doom Eternal; Destiny 2. TL;DR - on this monitor and with this emulator, Warzone works at 1080p 120hz but not 4K 60hz

I unfortunately don’t know how to help you, it sounds like an internal problem with your monitor. I’m not sure if you’re also limited to 100hz on PC as well. I hope you find a fix.
Had the same problem and the same monitor, you will need to buy a hdmi 2.1 to display port 1.4 adapter. First time I plugged it in, the monitor would show black screen and flickering, so you have to turn HDCP off through your HDMI before you connect it to the display port. I get 1080P 120 hz on MW2, but when I turned on freesync on the monitor it gets me to 1440P 120 hz and is working perfectly fine.
I’m able to only play it on 1080p, it depends on whether your monitor can handle a 4K input and downscale it to 1440p on your monitor. My monitor doesn’t take a 4K input and so I personally have to play at 1080p which sucks but at least I have 120fps

@Sal S no idea, I don’t work at Sony, i would love for official support to come to 1440p monitors so I can play at the resolution I payed for but in the meantime this is alright. I guess you can always try to return it if it’s fixed soon but idk how successful you would be in doing so
That is the purpose of it. Sony doesn’t allow 120hz On 1440p monitors, but it does on 4K monitors. This tricks your ps5 into thinking your monitor is 4K so you can then play it at 120fps. However, my monitor doesn’t take a 4K input so I then have to downscale it to 1080p to get an image. Hope that helped
@@captainsweat2527 thanks for the reply. My monitor already allows ps5 to play at 120/ 1080. I was hoping for it to allow the 4K/1440 to work. When I plug it in and select 4K, my screen goes black. Some people say it looks more blurry, which I haven’t noticed at all. I think it looks nicer than it did on my smaller 1080p monitor so I’d say yes. However it’s definitely not as nice as 1440p would be.
At the same time my old monitor was a lot worse so it may just be a clarity thing. Technically you have more pixels to which the Rendered FHD can be assigned to, so potentially it might look slightly cleaner and I see that on my monitor. However it could also be blurrier because those extra pixels on your monitor are halfway between rendered pixels so they detract from the quality. It depends on how your monitor handles it. Tl;dr - can look better or worse depending on your monitor but the change is barely noticeable even to a calibrated eye
@@captainsweat2527 How about the fps? It's the same as you running it in 4k, right? All in all the 4k 120Hz monitor is always a better choice (depends on your budget of course) As I see now, if you want to see the game in the highest graphic settings with a playable fps, the only way is the full hd, or if you want to play the games in a high resolution in a bigger screen, you have to give fps for that or lower graphic settings like rtx off (I was a pc player before, so it's hard to understand how this things work on ps5)
As I know now there is 4 options for gamers on PS5: Full HD or 4K and Quality and Performance, right? As much as you go lower in this things you will reach more and more fps. So if I want a good quality and a fast gameplay I have to give up with the 4K resolution, also the 2K gameplay is one of the worst option (if money doesn't matter) because you choose the 4K but see less while the fps is the same as in 4k
I try, but when i use emulator my monitor not detected hdmi, its not out of range but not signal at all, so i think its not working on my monitor. But thanks for your answear
If your TV is 4K 60hz then you don’t need this emulator. You can just go into settings and make it 1080p if you want to, but doing so won’t give you 120hz as your tv physically cannot do it
it will trick your PlayStation into thinking it’s 4K which somehow enables 120hz. You just then need to downscale back to 1080p and you still keep 120hz. Until Sony implements a proper fix, this is unfortunately the work around.
I forgot to mention that I had HDCP turned off which could also be interfering with your output. If you disable it, your screen should work. Just remember that if you won’t be able to stream Spotify and play at 120hz with this method as Spotify requires HDCP to be on

why do you need an adapter to run 1080p 120hz on a 1440p monitor when its supported natively? just plug in the ps5 and select 1080p and performance mode.

I’m trying out the Ezcootech
4K downsampler splitter.
I have no idea about how it works on pc, if you’ve seen reviews that help with it then go for it
This is useless for PC because you can just change that on Windows settings
Just incase make sure you buy one what is specifically 4k. I didnt understand and bought a 1200p one so did not work. Just making it clear as its not specifically said in the video
I said that my monitor is 1440p and this is a fix for some monitors that are not 4K. Sony enables 120hz on all 4K monitors by default, hence why you need the emulator. However some monitors can’t handle a 4K input, hence why you have to lower the resolution with the screen not working. This video exists to help people that don’t have a 4K monitor, people who do have one don’t need to watch this as they don’t have this issue

Hi Captain Sweat. Is it guaranteed that this can do 1440p 120hz?

When you get the display out of range, spam X a bunch. Then redo it. You might have to press x a lot of times because you need to calibrate the display when you plug a “new” one in (the console thinks of your monitor as new due to the emulator). Then try the whole process again

so with this emulator you also get 2160p option unlocked so that you can play at 1440p, downscaled from 4k?
If your monitor can handle a 4K input and downscale it natively to a 1440p output then yes. My monitor can’t handle a 4K input so I have to go into change the settings to 1080p by memorising the buttons.

Hi bro does this monitor run 1440 p 120 FPS on series x? Would you suggest it even though it hasn't HDR?
I would imagine it runs in 1440p 120hz on Xbox since Xbox supports 1440p, however, I don’t have one so I can’t guarantee it does. Also yeah it’s a good monitor when you get it for sale, lack of HDR hasn’t been a problem for me really. I honestly appreciate the lack of HDR so I don’t have to mess around with multiple brightness settings and the somewhat flatter colours of a non HDR screen keeps it more competitive. It depends on if HDR is important to you or not
hello were you able to test if there was a difference in heat with the emulator and without?
I noticed the HDMI got hot but I wouldn’t mark it as much hotter than the HDMI in a PS4 after a long session. Tbf, only for rainbow six siege, my ps5 makes a weird noise like the fan is hitting against something but it’s only on r6 and not other games at 120fps so it’s probably something else and something minor.
What monitor is this like spec wise and is it 24inch?
Can I stay at upscale 4K at 120? I have a 1440p monitor and was wondering if it would work at 1440p 120
Your monitor might be able to do it, ive seen TH-cam videos saying that their monitor allows it but mine unfortunately did not so I had to downscale. Still for high refresh I think it’s worth the loss in resolution.

The ideais to get 4k downscaled to 1440p with this adapter. You've showed us it can do1080p???? Any 1440p can use 1080p. Without the adapter!
@@captainsweat2527 haha cheers for the reply mate, yeah might give it a go and if it doesn't work out it wont be a huge loss.

Had the same problem and the same monitor, you will need to buy a hdmi 2.1 to display port 1.4 adapter. Sorry to sound so optimistic, I know it’s hard and annoying to get 120hz to work, we gotta work together to get around Sony’s stupid and lazy problems.
Let me know if you get it to work, if not try to return the Edid emulator
Is full hd games looks better on a 2k monitor like this instead of the full hd gameplay on a full hd monitor?
Some people say it looks more blurry, which I haven’t noticed at all. I think it looks nicer than it did on my smaller 1080p monitor so I’d say yes. However it’s definitely not as nice as 1440p would be.
@@captainsweat2527 I see, thank you!
Mine doesn’t work ):
When i plug in emuletor my monitor sad no hdmi input detected. My monitor is Asus SWIFT PG278QR, any help?:(
Do what I did, change it from 4k to 1080p by learning the buttons
Also turn off hdcp
I try, but when i use emulator my monitor not detected hdmi, its not out of range but not signal at all, so i think its not working on my monitor. But thanks for your answear
@@vytautasdziaugys3783 Sorry for the very late reply, I get lost in these comments. I hope you returned the Edid and found another work around.
Hi, i just buy another monitor, and its work without emuletor automatic;) but thanks for your atention;) good luck man
Sorry mate do you have to turn off hdcp?
Yes you do
does a 4k Tv with 60hz only supports a 1080p resolution?
If your TV is 4K 60hz then you don’t need this emulator. You can just go into settings and make it 1080p if you want to, but doing so won’t give you 120hz as your tv physically cannot do it
Hey with the new 120hz support update can I get 120hz even if my monitor has a hdmi 1.4 port ?
If your monitor supports 120hz then you can, but only at 1080p. Hope that helped!
@@captainsweat2527 my monitor is VG248QE which came out in 2013 I've tried anything without the emulator should I get it?
@@captainsweat2527 and yes it's 1080 p and 144hz
@@KermitOnAMoped you can try it and send it back if you want
it will trick your PlayStation into thinking it’s 4K which somehow enables 120hz. You just then need to downscale back to 1080p and you still keep 120hz. Until Sony implements a proper fix, this is unfortunately the work around.
