New Motorola Razr+ 2024: Moto, we have to talk!

- The New Motorola Razr line up for 2024 has been announced with some pretty big changes to the outside of the Plus. A 4" display is quite something, so you can do a lot of typing and scrolling without opening the main device. Unfortunately, Motorola has to answer for some things on the software side, and its release schedule HAS to get better.

I don't know how many passes Motorola gets before it gets the message and releases the software in a timely fashion --- especially if there are new features!
I love Motorola phones. But they always have software issues. They also never correct issues with software.
I have the 2023 one. It works great for me, but I only do basic functions on it. I try to minimize my smartphone usage. I really like it!
I was actually interested in switching from Samsung to Motorola in the future, but I am glad I decided against it!
Don’t switch
@@HansTechTalk - Awesome to have a well-known, and respected TH-camr respond to my comment! Definitely not going to man, thank you for your response.
The new setup is called Hello UI. It’s a nice little upgrade over My UX and you can see subtle differences that make it look better. Motorola makes great phones but they absolutely need to increase the number of software updates and push the updates out way sooner. There’s no way you should ever pay $1,000 for a Razr Plus and a year later, you’re still waiting for Android 14. We’re only a few months away from the Pixel 9 lineup and Android 15. Motorola should not be prioritizing Android updates so low. Surely, it cannot be that hard to put out timely updates and support your devices more long term.
Moto is the new Blu... They flood the market with phones with little to no software support. Blu doesn't update their phones they just make and sell new ones with updated software.
Good comparison for sure and unfortunate.
Agree
My next phone is the Moto g stylus 2024. I'll be getting it in 2025
If you get it then, you'll get no Android updates.
@@pixelgaming7261 I don't care about updates. I still using Android 12 and happy with it
@@pixelgaming7261 Important stuff like most security patches are pushed through Google Play Store updates anyway. You don't need the latest Android version to be safe.
I used the Razr Plus for about six months and for the most part I liked the device. Enjoyed the external screen and overall form factor.
However, the potential documented issues with screen protector degradation from simply opening/closing the phone was too much of a concern for me to fully enjoy it. (Not specific to Moto). Yes, Motorola will repair the screen under warranty, but it could happen again so ultimately I wasn't willing to take the chance of incurring additional costs and being without a phone.
However, the lack of timely software updates was an aspect that frustrated me most. The security patches were rarely on time (someone should advise Moto that 90 days is not bi-monthly) and often were two months old. Also, why does Motorola think its acceptable to not roll out an OS update until a newer version of the phone is released? Thats lazy and insulting to the people who paid a lot of money for the Razr.
Timely, stable software updates are important to me so now I'm using a Motorola ThinkPhone and to date its been a great experience.
Agree!
Just read your take regarding Motorola updates (or lack there of) on Android Police and 100% agree. Unless something changes, the ThinkPhone is likely the last Motorola I will buy.
Definitely! And I didn't know when that article was releasing so thanks for the heads up! Lol
The ONLY reason I might switch from Samsung to the razr+ 2024 is the 50MP telephoto lens. I NEVER use a wide angle lens. However, Samsung is rumered to be using a 50MP main camera so that may just be enough for me to go back to a flip. Still rockin an S20+!
Ill pass on the new razr because it launches with Android 14 good luck getting android 15
thank you for the videos! you sir earned a sub! every other TH-cam tech review channel doesn't call out the flaws. According to them the devices are perfect.
I really contemplated this phone but waiting on the ansroid update brings me back to waiting for Android with OnePlus.
Thanks for speaking for the razr 2023 owners. I was sent a brand new one days ago because my previous razr fried after 6 months. I really believe it's software related, because of the lack of updates; the device needs optimization to run these apps. It gets way too hot which causes screen burn.
As In wrote in your other video, I've already bought this phone. Won't be released until 10h of July, but as of right now they're pre selling them with 450,- in discount for the Razr 50 ULTRA (as they call'em over here )
What wonders me though is why do they sell these in the US without any accessories??
Here in Norway we get everything in the box! A 67W charger, a case made in the phone's colour etc.
I don't get it🤦
The razr+ 2024 is going to get 12GB of RAM here in the states. So, thats mainly for the Gemini AI that is pre-loaded
Spritz Orange deserves to be a Plus option 😢
I am getting the Motorola razr 50 ultra.
The orange fuzz moto razor is calling my name lol
Hot pink or riot, don't @ me.
@@StevealiciousTech lmao 🤣🤣🤣 calm down Paris it's not that hot
That’s the thing when you buy a Motorola phone you just have to be OK with not getting software updates in a timely manner or sometimes not at all and so if you’re OK with that then they’re good phones but if you want updates or you expect updates or live without updates don’t buy a Motorola phone
How many phones do you own
I got my updates as soon as I got the phone
i want it the orange looks so nice
The orange is awesome.Too bad its only on the low end device, and not the good one. Very sexy color.
Meaning the bright orange. The dull orange is dull, but for the high end device.
Motorola may compete with Samsung if they sell on more countries
I have both 40 ultra, flip 5,uodates in timely manner Samsung everyday,my Razr security bimonthly are on time,os update to android 14,no agent on the Motorola community forums can give us a uodate alway the same generic answers ive been getting since 2020 with all 3 models,2020,2022,40 ultra, this 40 ultra will be my last razr.
Needs reports on real life experiencewiththe phone. Opinions are good but needs evidence.
I'm definitely not spending another Penny on them updates are terrible plus the phones only worth $70 on trade in not a good bang for your buck
These processors are overrated it’s not going to make no difference
HELLO MOTTO phone @stevealiciousTech
