Killer whales? Cases of orcas attacking boats on the rise

- There's a new trend in the oceans this summer that may be worrying some boaters. It involves killer whales.
In recent weeks, there have been several reports of orcas going after boats, and in some cases, sinking them.
This has left people wondering whether this is the dawn of a killer whale uprising, or simply orcas playing their newest game.

Here where i live on vancouver island i see orcas everyday almost and they VERY rarely attack boats because people out here respect them enough to turn off engines and keep their distance when viewing them.
Them being aggressive is 99% of the time because boaters piss them off.

As a fellow fish people, I apologize for my neighbours rude behaviors, however I do want to remind you, that this is some sort of their desperate moves, because land animal keep messing around our ocean.
If this is happening after 2020, could it be something to do with fewer boats on the water during lockdowns? And now that boats have returned, they are entering "territories" that orcas claimed during that time?
The same issue has been happening with other wild animals that claimed territories during lockdowns, and then attacked people when lockdowns were lifted.
There also may be generations of animals born during that time who didn't have a lot of interactions with people or human presence and now find their presence novel, curious, or even threatening?

@@king-hp3kq It happened in Vancouver's Stanley Park. Coyotes took over the park within the city during the lockdowns. Then when people started to go back into the park, the coyotes started attacking them.

5 stars for the Orcas in this region; the Oil companies are doing underwater explosions searching for oil and gas, which is disturbing and harmful, particularly to whales.
What kind of electronics do you have on that Boat. You would think it would repel them but it may be sending out a frequency they can't ignore, or you are interrupting their feeding either by driving them crazy with pings or driving their food off. It does seem that what has been touted as "sea Dogs" who love humans almost exclusively have been acting aggressive towards us.
My initial thought was GPS saturating evenly everywhere and they are sick of it, but that is a Ship, it probably has more than a Radio and transmitter.
No doubt the whales are sick and tired of humans invading their space!!

Sailboats have been common on the waters since 1950, so after 70 years, all of a sudden the Orca's have decided to start chewing off rudders and smashing in fiberblass hulls? ... this is deeper than the average person can fathom.
I've been sailing for 10 years ... time to start checking out how much a steel hulled sailboat costs.
Actually that's a joke, I live in Nova Scotia, Canada where there are no Orca's. Come to think of it, this is the best place to live, nothing happens here but hurricane's.
Actually, that's even not true as of yesterday..haha...we just had massive forest fire that burned down over 200 homes and yesterday, we had 2 months of rain within 7 hours ...80 road bridges so far have been damaged or destroyed. . . but that's just a fluke.
Probably trying to tell humans to stop overfishing and taking all of their food. Heck even hummingbirds will peck at our window if the hummingbird feeder is empty.

The Orcas know that boats are bad. They know if they get in one, they'll be put in a small pool and forced to jump through hoops.

Been following orcas since 7yrs old and I'm telling you people there doing that because they can't find food and wants you to feed them trust me when they do that you have to feed them the fish you caught they Been watching it's a sign they can't find food trust me please just feed them they would stop and start acting goofy like a dolphin there very very smart bottomline there hungry 👍🏼
