Dairy cows, have their young taken away, the depression, sadness and agony animals feel being locked in farrowing crates day in, day out without social interactions and bonds is still ever-present even if there's no TV crew there to film it.

I have a widow/er crow that comes by at dawn looking for its mate. Its mate was killed 5 years ago. It comes every morning and caws for its mate. Sad.
