    I've always loved the Gamecube design. Second favourite console behind the Dreamcast.

      I feel the Dreamcast and GameCube both have a similar vibe, and it's a good one. Great consoles!

    Looks to me like you have a frankenCube. It's a black lid on an indigo console.

    • @backofficeshow
      @backofficeshow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sort of is, but it's indigo underneath 🤔

    You could get a full size disc lid back in the day. I have one on my original cube. Just uses DVD-R then.

      Did you need any other mods or did it just work as is?

      @@backofficeshow you can do a swap trick i think or a Mod chip. they also have a program called swiss for loading up Dvd-r's with a Action reply. not sure if they work without anything.

      @@backofficeshow Sorry Doc, missed this.
      You need a mod chip as well. I had a ViperGC

    Make it a backoffice blue paint job. logo on the lid inset.

      @@backofficeshow Thingiverse already has a lid insert called a gem on there, buttons, disc adapters and a ton more GC bits. Most of the hard work already done for you. It could look amazing in resin print, with illumination.

    TY for the informational video! I enjoy watching you take everything apart and and talking about the chips and boards! If I ever need you advice I'll ask you or watch one of your videos! :)

    I only ever tried to take a game cube apart once, a long time ago when they were still the latest thing! You got a lot further than I did! :-) I always thought these consoles were really cute and packed a lot of power into a really small case!

    • @backofficeshow
      @backofficeshow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are very impressive really, especially when your consider most of the space is the disc drive. They could have seen tiny if they had cheap game card technology, like a PC engine 😁

    • @electronraygun6346
      @electronraygun6346 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@backofficeshow absolutely! In fact when I first tried to take one apart, I was looking for the possibility of an unpopulated media port for cartridges or cards of some type. My thinking was that since Nintendo had been so against optical media, they might have possibly started the design intending to use cartridges. I know it seems ridiculous but I was a lot younger back then! :-)

    they do have a Drive replacement Mod its called the GCLoader. also you can do a region mod with just a Switch. its just need to run wires to two points on the motherboard. but its a US to JP. Not sure on PAL. i think that was completely different Board. Also memory cards are region locked in a way that they need to be formatted for the region and any other data is lost. I did a few Videos on the Panasonic Q a while back. its a rare gamecube made by Panasonic its pretty cool.Great Video as always.

    You can actually use a mod called the Wiikey Fusion (or the clone called the Wasp Fusion) as a drive replacement for these. It's actually a Wii modchip but can be wired into a GC and used to load from an SD card. It does require a bit of soldering, rather than being drop-in like it is for the Wii.

      @@backofficeshow It's the part with the jumbo jet lobbing boxes at you. That part on PS2, Xbox and PC is horrible.

    No that GameCube is not a special edition. It’s just yellowed. Definitely paint the whole thing and show us.
