Yup great choices here. If you like the Seiko but want something more rugged, the black Alpinist SBDC087 is a solid option. Steel field watch with a pretty accurate automatic movement. It has a 72h power reserve too which is great. I was between the Hamilton Khaki, Sinn 556 and the Alpinist. I think either of those three are high quality GADA sport watches. Planning to keep this one for a long while.
@@tobiasnaylorthat depends……is any watch one that you wear for life? The GShock is small enough and versatile enough to be worn in casual settings, a field watch isn’t IMO very good for situations where a GShock would be better suited.

I mean it’s in house-ish because Hamilton is part of the swatch group that also owns eta. So similarly if a Toyota or Lexus use an aisin transmission (transmission manufacturer under Toyota group) wouldn’t it be in house?

Tissot prx remains undefeated in this category imo. And if you're really on a budget, the citizen tsuyosa is an awesome option as well. More worth for your money than the prx, but it's just not as nice if you ask me.
Fair play, that’s actually a great selection that’s affordable but more importantly, encourages people to keep and enjoy their watches and not buy them as “investment”
@@naj_z People hate the plastic escapement to be more specific, which is prone to breaking a lot sooner. That's in only on the lower end of powermatic movements like in the PRX. Pieces like the Gentleman feature the more premium version.
4 really nice picks, I have a Tissot Gentleman and purchased and returned the white Sealander. Both are beautiful watches. The date window on the Sealander was too small for me.
They will! Its a well known brand and the plastic parts are there to make it last the 80 hrs power reserve. Just gotta make sure you service it every 4-5 years like all other automatic watches require.
That's what I was thinking. Don't you know by any chance whether the movements of the other watches mentioned contain plastic or only the Powermatic 80? I'm looking for a watch with a reliable movement and without plastic parts, that can last a lifetime. Thank you.
Yep. Although my Brew watches are not my “favorite” watches. They are my most worn watches. Easy to wear. Fits in any situation (at least in my lifestyle). Heck, I’m wearing my 8bit Brew right now during our stay at a nice hotel 😊
Having christopher ward, a brand that has not been around that long, and a seiko watch with a 6R35 movement that is known for being unreliable are interesting choices for watches that will last a "lifetime"
I have two CW watches from 2014 and both work flawlessly, and most of all they still look new. They have a nice finish and attention to detail so you instantly know "this is a proper watch"
I tell you this, the modified Eta of the Hamilton Khaki automatic that i own is the most accurate watch in my collection. Have Swiss, japanese and German movement watches but I'm getting -1, sometimes -2 seconds a day. Somedays accurate to the second. I'm starting to believe they put a quartz hidden inside.
Depending on the complication the Tissot and the Hamilton have the same movement they're both Swatch group they both used Powermatic 80 same with Mido that said they're awesome I have one of each
I am wearing the seiko presage SPB165 daily. Change out the bracelet into a brown strap. Daily beater. It is a beautiful watch. U will tend to look at dial, look at the second hand movement. 😊
Powermatic 80, sellita sw200, and ETA 2824, probably won't last you quite a lifetime lmao. They have issues with hand winding due to the crown wheel teeth being at least three times the size of the ratchet wheel teeth, causing teeth on the ratchet wheel to shear off. Great movements, but just don't hand wind too often. At least it's an easy fix if you catch it right away. Be sure to pull the crown all the way out and take it to a watchmaker. They'll just replace the ratchet wheel which is an easy job anyhow. Other than this they are fantastic movements.
@sirspeedsalot oh ok, I thought it was a modified eta. You know, those movements that are in most of the wider groups watches, like longines, certina and tissot. Oh no wait.........it is! 😅 You, sir, clearly do not know 🤣😂🤣😂

That Hamilton is interesting since it has an IHM and an exhibition caseback, but remember that it’s owned by Swatch, who owns ETA as well. It’s likely that Hamilton’s claim to an IHM is simply a customized ETA movement - much like it’s sister brand, Omega.
A more affordable watch that fits this philosophy is the Seiko 5 (especially the old shield logo ones). There are ENDLESS models, so basically everyone can have one according to their preferences. The 7s26 is absolutely reliable and they are usually quite cheap.
A sellita "work horse" 🐎 movement on the Christopher Ward, I can see why that watch would be a lifetime watch. The Tissot, however, I've heard (from Nico Leonard) that the powermatic movement uses plastic components.
Hey, if you ever are looking for some conversation piece watches under $1000 Mr Jones watches have some pretty good stuff in the $300-$800 range, I have their watch called the Last Laugh and it’s honestly really clean it’s just their plain skull not one of the variations.
Christopher ward, an up and coming watchmaker 😂 they are pretty well respect and well known, they have been around for 2 decades and well known and well respected for at least a decade
Considering getting a Tissot Prx, which i believe has the same movement as the Gentleman. I love the design 😮💨 now it just needs to fit on my fat wrist 😂
Everything I've heard about the Powermatic 80 is that they just toss it out and replace it with a new movement for "servicing." That's hardly lasting a lifetime, though I see where you're coming from.
I have a Christopher ward and I would definitely recommend it however, if you’re looking for a watch under 1000 Tissot, Hamilton and mido are you’re ves bets
