    I agree with you about the mag disconnect safety. I had a Browning HiPower I used shooting USPSA matches and I had to disable that safety. It was simply removing the tab in the mag well. Amazingly, after I “fixed it” it improved the trigger AND let the magazine drop properly as well as allowing me to show clear and drop the hammer with no magazine. I’m guessing your 1911 might work the same. Thanks for posting this. I may see if we can find a couple of them. One for me and one for my wife.

      Thanks for this comment. Considering this piece. Such a bummer this isnt in 9. Or hold 10+1 like 1911s in nine typically do. Holding it, its understandable why though. Even if dimensionally possible itd be suuuuper snappy and probably beat itself to death like 40. And 10. Does to alot of auto loaders. Might try a csx but i love how this is a dead nuts 1911.

      the mag safety in this pistol is totally different than the hi power, it does not affect trigger pull in any way, nor affect mag drop. that said, there are 2 ways to deal with it. 1 drop the mag, ensure gun is empty then press mag release, and pull the trigger. it will drop the hammer. 2- take the gun apart and note the nub that interferes with the trigger, mag release interface, and cut the nub off. that will completely remove the mag safety from the gun.

    I would love to have one. It reminds me of the old colt 1908 pocket hammerless. Similar size And thickness. I love the .380, when I’m not carrying a larger gun my go to is the Glock 42. Quite a bit smaller similar in capacity to this browning and shoots like a freaking laserbeam.

    This has been my EDC for over 3 years now and I love it. One buyer beware note when it comes to ammo; DO NOT purchase 56gr NOVX for this pistol as none of them fed into the chamber properly. Take note of this so you do not waste 30 bucks... I am guessing it was just too underpowered for this gun's 4.25 inch slide.
    For a self defense/carry round, I'd recommend Sig Sauer 90gr JHP. I fired over 100 rounds of this and did not have a single malfunction, also it is just as accurate as most of the brand name FMJ ammo.
    As for full metal jacket rounds; Armscore, Winchester, Sig, Remington, Federal, etc. All big brand name ammo wwas reliable... Just be mindful of those lightweight self defense rounds.
    The main criticism of a 380 is "it is too underpowered and inaccurate" While it may be a fair criticism for most pocket sized 380's, it certainly is not for this one. That 4.25" barrel gives it a huge advantage in terms of accuracy, velocity, and stopping power, and it passed the FBI ballistic gel test. This little 1911 will certainly get the job done, and carrying it in the waistband of your shorts on a hot summer day is not inconvenient like most bulky 9mm's. Browning took all the pros of a 9mm and a mini-pocket 380 and packed it all into the iconic frame of a 1911. For the civilian CPL holder, this is probably one of the greatest most underrated EDC handguns ever made.

      Never been a 1911 for carry guy but for the reasons you mentioned overall all weight and barrel length I just picked up one of the new Sig P365s in .380. 3 something ounces lighter than the 9mm variant in unloaded weight and even more when you consider the fully loaded mag weight when comparing the two calibers- super comfortable to carry, would love to see Iraq Veteran do a review of that gun!

      The people who claim 380 is an inaccurate round don't understand ballistics. The round isn't inherently inaccurate, my daughter's lil Browning is a pin driver. People think the 380 is inaccurate because it is usually shot through tiny micro pistols with a short barrel and short sight radius. In a bigger gun with a good shooter, the light recoil means you can make fast follow up shots that are on target. I bought one because my teenage daughter wanted a "big" pistol, but I shoot it at the range as much as she does.

    Shot placement is key. I shoot my .22 a fingernail out to 25 meters. Fast shooting, a bit larger than a hand. Bigger bullets, more recoil. Anyway, a pistol bullet is no comparison to a rifle bullet in a defensive way. (as said in adnausium on every channel out there). Good video. Keep on keepin on Eric and team :)

    I've got one of those and I do enjoy getting it out there. Though mine is the fullsize and not the compact you're shooting. Just a 4 1/4 barrel as opposed to the 3 5/8 so it has the same proportions as a milspec 1911. One thing I've thought about with .380 when people give it shit, is they complain about it being underpowered, but then stick it in a 3 1/4 barrel or 3 1/2 barrel. If you put it in a 4 or 5 inch, full size barrel, modern rounds can get damned close to 9mm performance (when in a short barrel obviously).

      Yeah, I also think that there’s a lot of bullcrap surrounding 380 and just in general the use of a pistol for self defense One of my summer concealed carries out here in hot as hell az..is my Bersa combat double stack 380…I run it and practice strictly with buffalo bore 90 grain 380+P JHP and upgraded the blow back spring to the walther 9mm 18 lb Wolff spring. It’s seriously no joke and cycles beautifully. 15+1 and I do not feel like it lacks at all. Very concealable too.

I’ve been looking at the Ruger LCP max, but holding this little pistol, it’s got about twice the barrel on it And won’t be much harder to carry. My wife loves this little 380 1911 and I admit, it is very fun to shoot. I would enjoy it more if it was more reliable. Very particular with ammo type.

      so the gun isnt reliable? Im looking for my first gun. what stuck me is a beretta 92fs and any glock because of how it looks, and also a 1911 browning. what would you choose?

    Why this pistol? Light , flat, won’t over penetrate. With the 4.2 inch barrel you will be getting well over 1000 fps with a 90 gr and you will be able to get loads of 100gr that will also go over 1000 fps, equal to or better than Makarov load. No weak sister and a short range fight stopper. You will also be able to place rapid burst hits on target. Mouse gun? How many rounds would you like to be shot with?

    @sillybilly44444444 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the upload and review. However, it's worth mentioning that Gold Dot in .380 is not an excellent round because it fails to penetrate adequately (consistently less than 12 inches in ballistics gel).

    The .380 CZ 83 was/is a decent .380. a Chonk, but not bad to shoot because of the steel frame.

    I take it, you did not experience the last round in a magazine ejecting from the gun instead of feeding into the chamber. I had two of the early models do this with 10 different mags.

    Cool little gun. Its like having a dead nuts 1911 in what feels like a sleeked down glock 48 with all the fat/blocky geometry shaved off. The mag safety blows but seems like that can be worked around. Too bad its not in 9 or even a 10+ 1 mag but holding it you see why its pretty damn tiny itd be snappy as hell and probably like 40. Or 10. Tends to do to autoloaders that get shot alot, beat itself to death if even dimensionally possible.

    The mags are probably dragging and not dropping free because of the magazine disconnect "safety". I had a Star BM that did that, but after I took out the magazine disconnect and they dropped free without an issue.

  • @timhallas4275

    I have to ask... Exactly why do you hate the magazine disconnect safety??

    • @jefferyboring4410
      @jefferyboring4410 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When u carry it’s common for the slide release to get bumped or mashed down where the mag spring pushes itself low 1/8” or so.. and then when u need to fire in a big hurry u think the safety is on. Otherwise atleast the gun would shoot and knock the mag out of the bottom so you’d know atleast what u need to do. Otherwise you’d be clueless!?! Is the safety on? Is it chambered etc. the mag safety is for safety from idiots that think when u remove the mag a gun is empty. I don’t want a gun that’s made for fools. I’m sure it has saved so real idiots though

    You can override the magazine disconnect safety by pressing the mag release button.... If you hold the mag release it WILL fire with no mag in it!

    I own and love this gun but I've recently encountered a failure to feed that needs a gunsmith. The problem is described by a video at the channel "the nsa knows my real name". Basically there's an extractor piece in the upper slide that gets bent. Hopefully the gunsmith can give insight if it can be fixed or reinforced in a way to not come back. This was my EDC and my stomach dropped at the range when I imagined this failure happening in a life or death situation. I also heard browning isnt being very supportive of this issue which blows mind when you think of the origin of both 1911 and .380. I'll come back after I've met with the gunsmith.

      I'm back to eat crow, never made it to gunsmith, found broken casing ring in barrel, so I still love this pistol.

      @@AlexDonnett not only did I manage to find the problem, as I was scared per my main comment, but I also learned and managed to inform the TH-camr I mentioned that it's common to the 1911 platform that springs need replaced and the extractor needs tuned so the strangest thing if all this is that his simple extractor issue was not recognized and this not supported by the Browning effing company. He said they tried to charge him 50 from sending it to get checked but he negotiated out of it. Im sure Browning turned in his grave at tasmanian devil rates.

That Browning would be the same holster I bet. If I get rich or famous, I will Have to try that Browning. PS no disconnect safety. lol
