Already made some nice customized roads using your blueprints as a baseline, and now this :D (posted in your discord a while back) These method vids are the things i love to see, it sparks my creativity big time. Thank you for that :)
Glad to hear the blueprints have been helping out! Yea, I love these freeform techniques as well, because there is so much potential for people to take it and do far more than I even considered with it. And the results are always fun to see.
So true BarryMcKockinner! I used to use other methods like frame foundations to make stairs occasionally when I really wanted them. But the simplicity and flexibility of this method makes it so easy to add stairs just about anywhere. I love it.
Very nice and clean tutorial, thanks. I went and used small pillars on their side coupled with a clipped in catwalk ramp. Finally a shallow stairwell that I've blueprinted to create emergency exits as FICSIT employee's safety is my number one priority!
Oh, I like that idea, using the catwalks for the stairs! Another great idea. And yea, if you clipped them halfway into a wall, they'd be really tiny. I think that might look great somewhere in a factory. I'll have to try it!
Hey, guy from the future again. Brilliant tip. I went ahead and subbed so I can see what you’re posting when you and Jake catch up with my timeline. Oh and good news, 1.0 is coming circa September 2024
Thanks man, I appreciate it! The frame floor method was my go to method as well for stairs, it wasn't too difficult and produced good results. But now I'm using this pretty much exclusively, it's simple and far more flexible.
Thanks Maker! Glad you enjoyed watching it. The review section was something I kind of threw in for fun, but it did make sense to just quickly go over everything I talked about. Definitely worth considering future stuff if it's done right.
Thanks TTBG! Glad you liked it. The Machinima segments are fun, I feel like I need to run a 3rd Satisfactory instance to take some jokes even further :P
This is a pretty cool method. I've been doing one where I use a beam and I place down road barriers along the diagonal and attach concrete beams to those barriers. This method looks a bit less painful than that, even if you do have to use foundations. I especially like the bit about the angled walls.
Glad you found it interesting Kendrick! I agree as well, it's one of those techniques that has changed the way I do things as it's such a simple way to do it.
Glad you enjoyed it quazy! And definitely, blueprinting the ones you like or a few variations of that is a great idea. I did that with my current factory, figured out the size I needed, blueprinted it and then added some side wall variations, etc.
Ho ! Thanks a lot, thought it would be harder, so i hadn't tried before, but seeing this, i'll try as soon as possible. Well played, and nice legit office :D
I kinda of see the beams as a bit too big for hand rails. That said, if you could get the right position to get them to run straight along a side wall, they might be an interesting decoration.
@@mymumbakescakes Yea, if you used an angle that matched up with some level of ramp, I think you could do that. Use an angled wall at the same level of as the stairs to act as a support. Would look pretty good.
Normal player: "Im gonna science the sh.. outta this ... " *5 minutes later* ... "F... this, Im just gonna grid the thing." Relyen : *Someone drops a hint* ... "After fidling with this a couple of weeks ... "
Awesome tutorial! One thing I wish you'd covered was the spiral stairs. But, like the roads videos, maybe there can be a part 2 - advanced custom stairs! P.S. I discovered that freeform extension technique on my own, and used it in lining up on-grid busses at various angles to one another, to go around obstacles, etc. The tip is super helpful and is greatly explained here. P.P.S. This is legit, "Beginner Stairs Tutorial - A Step By Step Guide!"
Thanks warp! I tried to keep it concise and informative. And yea spiral staircases would probably be another video, the method for them isn't the same used in this video. Plus, we still need to work out some finishing touches for them.
Love your content for Satisfactory, but as a side thought, were you going to finish your alpha series for Techtonica, and maybe newish series for demo & full release later this year. Keep up the great content, definitely the most detailed on any of the games you provide content for. Thanks again.
Okay so I just tried it, the only trick is to make your "circle" but then at each connection you have to move over 4m, then you have to "redraw" your original beam, basically off center each "joint" by 4m and then it looks right. I just did a hexagonal staircase and anyway I'm very happy with the result!
A legit spiral staircase is probably possible my placing your circle and then by making pilons/pillars on each square... at an increasing height and then repeating the process... I'll have to experiment
10:04 the nerd in me was so excited to see you hit a pythagorean triple on the long stairway, until I noticed that the last piece is longer than the remaining distance 🙈
Default only sizes to 1m increments, so it wouldn’t work I believe. But after doing a bunch of these, I don’t even notice the smaller first step. That said, if you could size it just right to hit a Pythagorean triple, you could get a whole number for the Freeform beam.
Lol, that pause button comment out of left field made me laugh :) That said, I also hope there will be another aesthetic update at some point (like Update 5). Maybe we'd get an official stairs, this method isn't too bad though. A pause button would be nice too, but there is a pause feature hidden in the game (if you didn't already know). You just need to open the console and type "pause" to effectively pause the game. But a button would be nice too 😉 or pause on ESC menu when playing single player or something.
Very true! I think if you also got it inline with the wall angles, you could clip some ramps in and use the ramp railings as well. Then maybe replace the edge of the ramp with a wall for the railing to sit on.
@@relyengaming I also just realized something. In the vid you mentioned how at certain angles that the one off step doesn't appear. I don't know if that's why, but I can slide *up* the stairs. I still slow down as if I was sliding on flat ground, but I CAN SLIDE UP. It's black magic, and I'm all for it.
Finally, I can ascend to my great box factory with style
Lol, that's the spirit :)
Haha, THIS!
"And now we're going to snap the foundations to the bottom of the beams"
I audibly gasped that's such a good idea.
Lol, I still love this technique :P I've built so many stairs thanks to it.
Have to admit... I was skeptical. But now... that's really fricken cool man.
Hah, I totally understand, there is a lot of click bait out there. Glad you enjoyed it!

This super simple but very versatile. You just need a start point and an endpoint! I'm going to build so much stairs now
So true BarryMcKockinner! I used to use other methods like frame foundations to make stairs occasionally when I really wanted them. But the simplicity and flexibility of this method makes it so easy to add stairs just about anywhere. I love it.
Your videos are the best how to videos in existence, I hope to see more after 1.0 releases

Oh yea, I’ll definitely be back for 1.0 💯
You are killing it man 🤜
I normally use the frame floor method, but this... this is a time saver! Keep it up brother!
Thanks man, I appreciate it! The frame floor method was my go to method as well for stairs, it wasn't too difficult and produced good results. But now I'm using this pretty much exclusively, it's simple and far more flexible.
I had already figured this out myself but this is still a fantastic tutorial, very thorough and concise! Keep up the good work!!
I appreciate Tessellate! I will do my best!
Best method i've seen so far to do this ! You've earned a sub
Thanks Etaniel, Glad you found it helpful! I’m always a fan of finding an easier way :p
Great tip. The review in the middle is a nice touch also.

daaamn this a neat idea! Good job! As always, love the Machinima segments lol

Awesome video, I'll definitely use this in my world!
Thanks Laura, glad to hear it! If you come up with something interesting, I'd love to see it.
This is clean man, I will use this method for sure, thanks!

Love this tut! I found a way to add stirps of light to each step. Still working out the kinks for a blueprint of that. THANKS for the Video. :)
Great to hear, I'd love to see what you come up with as well :)
yo i can't stop watching these videos, so helpful
Awesome! Love these short tutorials.
Thanks VetaX! Glad you are enjoying them!
This is awesome. Can't wait to try it, but I think I will make a blueprint of the basic ones.

Glad to hear it, I’ve been using it a lot myself in my current build. I’ve been wanted to use stairs more often thanks to how easy it is.
Amazing thank you, always wanted stairs
Great tutorial, short and to the point!
Great! Glad you found it helpful!
Awesome! I love the geniusnessneses of players in Satisfactory.
Ho ! Thanks a lot, thought it would be harder, so i hadn't tried before, but seeing this, i'll try as soon as possible. Well played, and nice legit office :D
Yea, it's one of those things that looks like it should be more complicated than it is. And agreed, nobody should question how legit my office is. :P
(It's not legit.) XD
Stairway to heaven? wow... what a fantastic tutorial.
Thanks BakesCakes for checking it out, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
To finish the stairs, some hand rails would be nice. Use the beams.

@@relyengaming how about the industrial railing.

I actually have a little something special coming out today for Techtonica :)
Nice, now I'm going to go try to make a spiral staircase!

I saw, you made a great attempt at it! Looks good. Will be interesting to see how you integrate it into a factory.
Owh…thank you thank you thank you!
10:04 the nerd in me was so excited to see you hit a pythagorean triple on the long stairway, until I noticed that the last piece is longer than the remaining distance 🙈
I will find one someday. Mark my words, one day.... 🤞
Could you not use Freeform and then use default to make it a full number for even stairs?
Default only sizes to 1m increments, so it wouldn’t work I believe. But after doing a bunch of these, I don’t even notice the smaller first step.
That said, if you could size it just right to hit a Pythagorean triple, you could get a whole number for the Freeform beam.
You rox ! 1 year for discover your TH-cam Channel 🎉
Damn I NEED stairs now
The guy who thought of this is a genius
Agreed, I'm really glad they mentioned it. The results speak for themselves!
Interesting 🤔
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you found it interesting.
This is too much power, Ficsit management would like to have a word with you :D
😱😱😱
Wait a sec, you could recalibrate the guide beam every step and do CURVED stairs with this!
mfw theres a stair foundation now
imagine if the developers just made something like.... stairs.
and a fkn pause button.

You can leave the beams in place so your stairs have handrails.

Ah yes, the perfect stairs for me to flawlessly ascen- crap I can't walk up them... oh well that's what jetpacks are for
Absolutely right, you didn’t need to walk up those beautiful stairs anyways. :)
