Waited for a price drop with this one been playing for a week now and really enjoying it the versus game was great can't believe this took 8 years to get done it shows this is a beautiful game hope it gets a sequel pretty soon I'm starting to really like this series ❤❤
I really enjoyed this game, the pacing was perfect coming from a guys with a family and kids, it felt great to complete the story and enjoy end game content, shorter was definitely better for me
This game is a sleeper hit and am absolutely having a blast. I am really enjoying shorter length games and don’t need a marathon to feel I got my value out of it. Great review. We lll done
Short? The "main story" is just a tutorial for the main part of the game being the endgame, I've spent over 160 hours in this game and im far from 100% completion
This game’s my absolute favorite in a couple years. As a 35 year old, I grew up with campaigns only taking a few days as the norm and I don’t have the time or understanding to why people want stories to last a hundred hours. But I am also a sucker for a fun gear grind as long as I like the combat and this game has that in the spades. The post game is similar to Monster Hunter and can go on seemingly forever if you’re after the perfect build and want them for multiple characters.
I don't want a story that lasts hundreds of hours, I want a video game that lasts hundreds of hours that actually focuses on gameplay considering it is a video game and not a movie
Absolutely loving this game! I'm about done with all the post-game side quests. About 35ish hours in, and I'll be sad when it's done. Glad you like it too!
I'm so glad you liked this game, Tara!! I waited years for this one, and it was worth every beat of my heart 😍 I love it so much - it was everything I hoped for and more. It took my breath away at every turn and sang to my soul, it's just about my favourite game of all time 😊 thanks so much for doing a review!!
I'm very glad this game came out at all after the almost 8 year wait and managed to be as good as it is. Now hopefully if they make a sequel it'll come out in a reasonable amount of time
Been meaning to try this eventually, it being an endgame/multiplayer focused JRPG is intriguing, makes me think Monster Hunter with how it treats endgame/post-game. BTW curious if you plan on reviewing SMT5: Vengeance, playing through it at the moment and it's one of the most fun JRPGs I've played in years, enjoying the gameplay/combat more than Persona 4 Golden and 5 Royal lol.
@jakeriese4862 you mean on TH-cam? I’ve definitely thought about it, but I think it wouldn’t be as interesting as you think; I’m pretty quiet as I play and like to focus, so I don’t know if showing my first playthrough would match my style of play. It could be something to consider for second times, but it’s also not something I get to often (and the writing is one of the parts I really like about making videos so yeah :3) I definitely understand it would be quicker content 😅 but yeah, just not sure if it suits me personally :) thank you for your interest though, it’s good feedback :)
From what you have done, would you say the post game content is "playable" in aingle player? Ive read that it was made for multiplayer in mind, otherwise, they take way longer and are more difficult than intended.
From what I've played so far, it is (although I'll be sure to mention in a video or here if that changes). I'm still in the post-game campaign so I imagine that will be approachable as (hopefully) they want you to see all the story. But yeah, will keep that in mind as I keep playing and update if necessary :33
I didn't really pay much attention to the story, I was too busy and having too much fun with the gameplay loop of combat and progression, it's addicting
I bought this game because I had so much fun with the characters in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. It also has a story driven campaign, but it plays more like a 90s beat 'em up arcade game. Playing the two games has given me a great grasp on all its core characters, and each game's individual unique characters, without having to dive into the deep, deep, deep dungeon of the Gatcha Game. By the way - Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising has the story from the original Granblue Fantasy Versus game as well - so you get the story mode of two games in one! I highly recommend trying it out if you liked this crew a lot and don't want to spend endless hours rolling for characters.
This game surprised me! Played the demo then immediately wanted to buy it. Game has been incredible. Unfortunately I’m stuck on one of the post game bosses on proud mode but I really enjoyed story mode.
For a game I was looking forward to for so long, it's funny I ended up not buying it at launch. Lol. I definitely look forward to getting it sometime down the line though, as I enjoyed the combat in the demo.
There’s a few more characters to make crewmates now, and apparently some quests (don’t know if they’re story heavy or not, the screenshots look cool though haha :))
I very much enjoyed the anime of GranBlue and I loved the story of the game (replayed it a number of times). As I like to get Plats I tried to do all the post-game content. However, it was far too much for me (unending grinding for upgrades) and the ultimate difficulty trophy was bugged (for me). So, I would recommend sticking to the story and maybe just unlocking characters you like.
Interesting to hear re: the platinum, although maybe not surprising with the amount of weapons (I was surprised how many there were when I was playing for footage as I didn't use many in my first playthrough; can't see the need for all of them, aside from trophy hunting). Having a bugged trophy sucks too, hope they fix it so you can get it!! Will keep that in mind though, thanks for sharing your experience :))
This looks like a nice palate cleanser. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but it does sound a bit like you're linking length with quality? To me, a shorter game is ideal. :)
I had no prior knowledge aside from liking the character designs I'd seen. If you're okay with just finding out things as you go, I think it's approachable since it's in a new place in the world :))
I like ARPG and cRPG that have RTwP but I don't think it's worth the full price that Cygames are asking for based on the meat and potato the comes with this package. Thanks for the review.
Wish the game didn't use cooldowns, had a similar problem with Final Fantasy XVI, where i felt like my combos were way too limited Its such an unengaging mechanic to put in an action game, no amounts of skilled play gets your abilities back any faster an MP meter that you could build up and manage manually would be much more fitting for this type of game
I guess it depends on the type of engagement you're looking for. From a button mashing perspective, sure, it's less engaging. But when you have cooldowns on an ability it limits their use, increasing the impact they have, therefor becoming far more mentally engaging combat. So yes, it's less buttons to push over time, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I was hyped on this game for a while. A couple things killed it for me. -It being episodic was a huge turn off. The world looks stunning and to have it be missions set in seperate locales was a huge bummer. Not to mention that i accepted some side quests for the first mission, didn't complete them and could not go back to get them befire proceeding. - The action felt wayyy to hectic. Every twenty to thirty seconds a link attack then chaining into another and then a huge team smash and it just felt like i was watching as much as playing. -Finally, the Wholesome anime mood was grating. The constant " I know ill succeed through the power of friendship!" really wore on me. It felt like a Pixar movie. Maybe I'm an inattentive dullard but i really hope to give it another try down the road.
A quick action experience? Im 160 hours in, this was far from quick lol, but then again i feel like paying $60 for a game to only play the story/tutorial is waste of money, thats like paying $30 for a pizza to only eat the toppings, i feel like story is only there just to teach you the mechanics of the game to prepare you for the actal main part of the game being the endgame, this just isnt a JRPG, its just an action RPG with an anime art style, anime and Japanese developer doesnt automatically equal JRPG
Incredible review! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this!
Thank you for watching and your support always ^_^ will have to take a look at your video now I’m out of the review hole haha 💙
@@JRPGJungle that's so kind of you! But seriously your reviews are always top shelf.

Is the gameplay overwhelming? Cause this looks like Xenoblade and that seems crazy

May have to give this one ago!

I tried a little SMTV:V recently and can't wait to talk about it, it's kind of incredible?!? This year is great :'D
It's more action RPG than JRPG, like monster hunter it's not really a true JRPG
Hey, Ed, Mr. Strife called. He want's his Buster Sword back.

My gf just got me this for my bday on Wednesday and I'm loving it!
im off tomorrow for an American holiday called 4th of July aka independence day so I will spend most of my day trying out this game

Me with Dragons Dogma 2, waited 12 years only for me to get this game today instead, downloaded and will be playing tomorrow morning 😂
I completed it when it came out. I hope they release DLC or a sequel

Guess this is the closest we'll get to a skies of arcadia 2. I'll be picking this up next year for sure.
On sale on Steam right now, for $41.99. Picked me up a copy :D
So good! My timing for this review had nothing to do with that, but I'm super glad it's cheaper right now! Enjoy :DD
Nice review .I dove into the post game I have 144 hours in it.

Haven’t played it because I have no attachment to the Granblue universe but maybe it’s worth checking out even if I know nothing about it.
