And the note was too high for her vocal range. But she is still amazing, and the performance was awesome! One example of being able to tell it was her, because she looked back at pianist (who did a great job too) and laughed. she did amazing though!! :) :) :)
Did something happen with the microphone at like 1:33 ??? she then seems a bit flustered because of it, but she still killed the performance of course!

i quite agree with you. i wouldn’t say she has the voice of an angel BUT when i heard her sing moon river in the flash supergirl crossover she did sound like an angel but when i hear these songs from beautiful, i can’t say i hear the same beautiful voice. i think it definitely is the song that fails to show her voice in the best possible way
NF411 Carole King has a voice that is truly unique. It goes with her music, which has inspired a generation. I saw Beautiful on Broadway with Jessie Mueller (who originated the role) and she did a fabulous job singing like the legend. That’s probably why Jessie won a Tony for her performance. I love Melissa - but singing Carole King is not easy. I’ve often heard from singers and musicians alike that Carole’s music is very complex. I guess that’s why she’s considered a genius. I love Melissa. She will be fine in the role. It’s hard to step in for a limited run but my money is on her that she will honor Carole with her portrayal.
