Wow, we just bought a new 2024 Tiguan and opted for NO panorama sunroof, after reading about all of the problems they caused in earlier models. It seems inevitable to me that some leaking will occur over time with these things. One less potential problem. Even though those roof windows are beautiful, there is hardly anything worse than water damage, and where I live that means MOLD!

Thank you for this video! This is the only full video of this repair on this leak issue those locations are hard to find for the drainpipes!

Hello, i repaired all these pipes before and still have water in the trunk.
I find three M8 holes inside of the trunk. When you remove the cover in the trunk where the door lock is. There are two on the right and one on the left at the bottom. Water gets in through this.
In video time 2:19 - You can see behind the holder, there is a thread with something.. I put screws with a gasket there but it still leaks.
Where can water get into this part? there is still some drainage to clean?
It makes me crazy, I greased every screw, changed every gasket and still the trunk carpet was wet.
    Thank you for any idea!

Nice to see but would be even better to see how you remove some of that trim. Especially the ones in the rear boot compartment as the nearside seems to be a right pain. I have a 2009 Tiguan with this exact problem but the only pipe I can’t get to is the rear nearside. Best way to remove the trim?

Is all this water from the sunroof draining not working? I have damp/wer parts of the carpet, but my Tiguan doesn't have a sunroof

    • @newagainautoreconditioning
      @newagainautoreconditioning  2 ปีที่แล้ว

If you don't have a sun roof, there are many other places that any and all cars leak. The door membranes, the rear vents, and blocked drainage on the scuttle.

Can someone with experience on this issue please respond. I have a VW Tiguan 2012. The 2 rear drain tubes were disconnected at the bottom at the spider trap without my knowing. They overflowed and water was creeping into the boot. I've fixed the drain tubes but here is the question. Where exactly has this overflowed water gone?? When I take a turn I can clearly hear from the ear a sloshing sound left and right turns. I have stripped the rear down to the floor. No idea. There appear to be these plugs, 4 of them in a diamond pattern. I pulled one out (it was silliconed shut) and I do think it's wet down there, the left one. The one closest to the bumper it goes straight through to the ground. Anyway, can anyone shed line on where this trapped water is and how to get out. Nobody seems to know!!

@@JohnnyLREACTS I don't recall a specific example involving a Tiguan, but it's something we have done on other cars. We would normally strip out the interior, or partially do so. If we can't find a place to suck out the water, we would use ramps to lift the front to make the water run to the back. What we can't suck out, we use dehumidifiers to evaporate the water.

There are a few Tiguans on there, otherwise, they suffer all the same leaks any other car suffers from, leaking door membranes, rubbers and rear vents etc.

Thanks for the video! What did you spray on the floor carpet section at 4:52? Assuming this is to decontaminate it?

Chemspec Formula 429 PLUS. Yes, it is what we mainly use for decontamination. It's the same product used to disinfect surgical theatres by the NHS.

I've got the same problem on a Tiguan 2016 R Line. Tue drivers and now the passenger side get soaked when it rains. Obviously a common problem with VWs. Will be the last time I buy one. Shocking.

It's not unique to VW or Tiguan. All cars leak eventually, usually once they are about 8-10 years old.

@@newagainautoreconditioning I have a 2013 Tiguan that leaks just like that. Sunroof is completely sealed and the water comes in from somewhere else. I have owned over 25 vehicles and NONE of them have leaked like this. The VW water leak is obviously systemic and a real problem.... not all cars leak.

We have the same problem water in both rear footwells. Water coming in at top of the door and running between the door and the plastic trim (door) ends up sitting on the lower door rubber when you open it. 2014 Tiguan wants dumping VW should be recalling them as all the forums you read are getting this with or without a sunroof. Ours has no sunroof. Absolute disgrace - I have a Rover Cab nearly 25 years old never had any problems with leaks like this has with the Tiguan.
