Hi Marat! Thank you for providing great information to the TH-cam community. I know these videos take a lot of time and energy so we appreciate everything you do!

By the looks of my resume, I think they can tell I'm pass high school. I honestly think it's age discrimination. I dress appropriately, do make up, hair, show enthusiasm. I've read what you should and shouldn't do on interviews. 😕

What I still don't get about hiring process is that recruiters put so much more emphasis and importance on experience than school history and academic qualifications. I think academic qualifications matter too. Recruiters should look at both, work experience and school path / academic qualifications. But unfortunately they still don't do it. It could be a 60 - 40 share.
Not exactly. As I mention in the video, there are many which would give you a second chance but you really have to deliver your best during the interview process.
I agree about being social media, but regarding the age it really depends where you live, what kind of positions we are talking to. Unfortunately it's indeed very complicated finding a right job after a certain age.
If you check the box "I need a work permit" your resume goes right into the bin. They don't even click on your portfolio link. Not even if you rank 12th in your industry in the world. Equal opportunity policy is 90% BS. I've sent out hundreds of CVs, written by professional resume writers who guaranteed an interview. The percentage is zero for two years now. Not a click, not even an interview.
I am sorry but you have to understand that needing a work permit is not equal opportunity. They will first need to prove that there is no one else in that country that can do what you do, then if they manage to do that, there is a very lengthy process to get your work visa approved, and finally, once you get your permit, green gard etc, you might even leave that company in search of new opportunities... See it their way and it will be easier for you.
And this is why many professionals prefer to start their own business, join the academy, work as professors, join the government burocracy, or just ask for support of friends, relatives in companies to get a job, biases by recruiters are quite really real and common nowadays, unfortunately.
I was working in state prison here in california as an lvn for more than 14 years. Then I pass my RN recently and got hired to veterans. After orientation,i used my annual leave because im having anxiety attack because of the job and people around me at the job.while I'm off I looked around for a job in the prison and also called the HR ,supervisor, and chief nurse executive in my previous job if i can go back. They said to apply, which i did.I keep on calling them just to ask the update of my application.I got hired to one of the prison that i applied but RN job which i don't really like it ,i want my lvn job .Im kind of nervous about RN job because I graduated 30 years ago and i don't know if i can perform the job. I've been feeling anxious, nervous and stressed for 2 months now.But I still took the job just for the sake. It's even 1 hour and 30 minutes drive. I'm still h oping to get back from my old job.I wonder if my old supervisor, hr,and cne is just trying to full me around that i can stiil get back in my old job.
I was let go from a job because I was not communicating enough on the job. This was a technical position in IT. If a recruiter or hiring manager asks me why I left that job, what should I say?
If you know someone in the company, or you are a great brown noser, or your supervisor is your buddy which you hang out after work and drink beer, only then you will get a job, otherwise it doesn't matter how eligible you are or how talented you are, dost not matter. As simple as that.
I see your point and it's definitely a case for many companies. However there are some companies which go on and do a fair recruitment process, where everyone is given a chance.
In tech they don't care about how you interview, I have gotten interviewed in casual clothing for the last decade, as freelancer, contractor and regular employee.
My experience is that they need to collectively grow a pair and tell companies that 9/10 of their dream candidates don't exist and that they should stop asking people stupid questions that candidates are almost guaranteed to lie on, hiring the liars, then being surprised when those liars stab them in the back.
*QUESTION* , here. The job title is the problem I am having with a job ad posted by a recruiter. The job title should *NEVER* be deceptive. Don't waste my time. Post the actual job title. Job titles mean something to people. I applied to a job that says "Supply Chain Specialist". After speaking to the recruiter, he sent me a different job description than from the one that was originally posted in the job ad which basically had more responsibilities, which I was okay with, but the responsibilities were things that wouldn't have been attraction getters for job seekers. He set up an interview for me about the "Supply Chain Specialist" position. When I received the job interview itinerary, it said "Customer Service Representative - (and then my name)." If I knew it was a customer service representative position, I would've never applied or even looked at the ad and I'm sure the recruiter knew that. I went on with the interview and am hoping to negotiate a job title, as customer service representative was not what I initially signed up for. But I doubt I will get the change, because if hired, I will be working with 13 other employees in the same department (I'm guessing the customer service department). There would not be much of a reason for them to change my title if I'm doing the same thing the other 13 customer service representatives are doing. Do not be deceptive. The way to lure people to jobs shouldn't be by lying to them about what you're getting into. What would your advice be for my situation?? Someone told me not to bring it up until I'm the candidate they choose to give an offer to. That way, I'd have more leverage. Do you agree??
That's never a right approach from the recruiter's side, unless they've discussed it with you previously. The candidate needs to know if for whatever reason the role has been changed. You shall never be interviewed for the role you are not interested in.
@@myemmotion no, they did not discuss it with me previously. I don't mind job the duties, I just want the original job title that was advertised. Any advice?
I had this issue with a company inhouse recruiter. I was told about the salary to be $XX amount going into this job interview. I was told they like me and like to give me an offer. The offer was $5K less than the salary she told me, she said they think I was less junior compared to another candidate that they saw. In talking with her, I was persistent on getting the alary expectation to be the on she said it was. What happened the next day was I got an email from her with the offer written up and the offer is just bump up $2K, still less than $3K she originally told me. I was very upset and at an impulse turned down the offer. But I really like to know because I am in between jobs, can they use that as a card to play down on my worth and present me with this offer?
They will always play down, because that's how the negotiations work. You shouldn't be upset, just explain them what you are expecting and that you can't go lower than that amount. But without any anger or any passive aggressive comments.
Hi Marat! . I interviewed for a graduate program. It was good. I was told I'd hear this week. I called them on Wednesday and the HR person said it's still undecided as there was a stiff competition. . It's Friday and I have a lunch break in about an hour. . Shd I call them again? What should I do? It's a nerve wrecking situation 🤣🤣😇
Hi Kashish! I can definitely relate to what you are saying, it's nerve wrecking and it's hard to be patient about it :) But if you've already spoken with them on Wednesday it's better to wait for a few more days. You could follow up on the coming Wednesday again. Hope you get positive news very soon, keep me updated!
I bet this is about Headhunting Agencies or Company recruiters, not temporary agency ones? Some headhunters build a strong reputation through their work and they are extremely helpful with everything. But temporary job agencies are awful. And some company inhouse recruiters can be completely clueless on what the job is about
my apologies but the last point i may have to mention its not in everyone's favor reason due to many people are different and different lifestyles to support and enjoy their happiness. Not everyone will afford to spend money to try to get the job then realize they will not get it, they have to live that lifestyle then be broke before finally getting the job.
I am not sure if I understood this right, what do you mean by "spending money to get the job"? Do you mean recruiters charge candidates for their services?
I applied at a job and I felt I was over dressed. They didn’t hire me. So, I humbled myself - if I may say So. And, I dressed casually, more to fit the Culture of the work environment. I prayed Beforehand God would Fill my mouth with words I needed to Say. If I can say so, I was Straightfoward & Honest in my Interview. And, letting them Know if I’m not Treated with Respect, I won’t be able to Stay. (Weeding out Toxic work environments). I prayed Beforehand, that if it’s God’s Will to work there. I guess He Answered my Prayers. Coz, they delayed in getting back to me and asked me to Call them. I just Hope I won’t be led to wasting my Time & Energy. Who has time to play mind games. If they Really Need you, & you have Fulfill the job requirements….. They will CALL you & not Ask you to call them Back. Rude!
Is it more professional to give a single date and time when they ask for your avaiabikity? Or is it better to say that your open whenever for a phone interview
i got the job offer after the interview back in January but I don't understand why I'm not getting a starting date on when to start the job why is it taking so long it's almost June
Hey i got a recent call from someone asking me about job description, said he will call me back today or next week for interview dates. Still didnt hear back . What does that mean ? He literally asked me a few questions which i answered everything correctly on phone.
It's a very competitive business. They won't give a company name because a lot of times it's confidential, there are also times when candidates decide to apply to the job directly with the company which is a huge waste of time for a recruiter. But most of professional recruiters would provide you with a job description for the role and would orient you in terms of salary.
@@myemmotion It's just a waste of time for everyone. Nor everyone have a car. We have to take the bus or train. And we should know where it is before we even interview. These recruiters don't think about how it is for US. They should tell us basic information. A company name is not confidential.
@@saulgoodman2018 I think you are talking about the temporary placement agencies which also recruit. Because a professional recruiter would usually interview you first and then inform you about "who the client company is". Help you to prepare and give you advice for your interview. When it comes to placement agencies I completely agree, many don't empathize with candidates at all! I hope it's eventually a good position and that things won't out well for you!

Very helpful video! I approached a hiring manager in the field that I’m going to school for . I told him I was interested in working for the company. I’m currently working as a contractor at this company. The hiring manager told me to send him my resume because they would be doing some hiring soon . After that, 2 weeks later I got an email saying that they were hiring with the application link attached from the hiring manager . I informed the hiring manager that I caught the opening and applied before he sent the link to me, but no communication after . Is there a chance I get a interview ? Thanks
Hi there! Was this job relevant to what you've been studying? Do you think you'd fit the role? Go ahead and follow up on your application. At least this way you'd clear the doubt and there is nothing to lose.
@@selfmadejb1387instead of applying for the job ask for a meeting with you and the decision makers. Then have a conversation with them about your needs and their needs. What's the minimum time frame that you want your recruit to fill a spot? Because I am a recruit, but I want the option of not lingering in a job where i don't like the work culture or the job. And i like being a temp because it gives me an opportunity to sample alot of employers. Please give me your honest opinion and advice. Thanks!
You know when it comes to Recruitment and Talent Acquisition companies, most of them give a certain guarantee to clients. If it's a senior role for example, I give a replacement guarantee of 6 months. So if someone I placed at a client company walks out after 2 months only that means I'll have to repeat the search for free (obviously not the best scenario).
However there are also Temporary Recruitment Agencies, which hire under a 2-3 months contracts, that keep on extending. It's a different type of business, those type of agencies have a fame of not being very "candidate oriented", hence part of the bad reputation for recruiters.

I want to go permanent on my current temporary contract, they have said they need more staff. Would you recommend my speaking to the agency or the company that I have my contract with? Thanks
Is your agency a temporary work agency? Because in that case it's more interesting for them to keep you with a temporary contract. You could ask the company in a subtle way, saying that you've already worked "...many months... there" and if there are any opportunities of a full time contract?

At least 75% of recruiters are unprofessional and I am being generous with that statistic. They answer the phone like a bratty teenager. They should always answer the phone hello this is so-and-so not Hello like they are half asleep. They have terrible follow-through skills are usually ghost clients unless an offer is in hand. I have dealt with recruiters that are terrible even with explaining expose third-party recruiters. Once I interviewed for Pfizer and I thought I was interviewing for a consulting company in India because they didn’t bother to tell me what the end client was. I have many stories like this but currently I’m up for a fantastic job the recruiter is excellent so fingers crossed!
Looks like being a recruiter or exploitator is more comfortable than on the side of those who provides the real value, who is making the things working and happening.
I can't agree on a recruiter and an exploitator being synonyms at all. However it's true that working in recruitment and providing a value to both sides isn't an easy task. You wouldn't believe how many candidates mentioned that it was their first time receiving a feedback and tips from a recruiter, which does make me question the professionalism and the standards of the recruitment industry.
Haha, I remember you told me. You might "hate" recruiters because you haven't worked with a professional one! I am so happy you are loving your current job :) So it's all good for now?
My opinion based on the experience I think that in a job interview mostly an average of 45 minutes it's just fake for 2 basics reason, the applicant that is in need of the job (therefore anxious and insecure) will try to sell a good image in all possible ways to the recruiters, on the other hand, the recruiters with all the psychological conditionings and prejudices that might have will look through those filters to you, conclusion, all fake. in one hour like these, you will not really know the person you are interviewing; this reminds us of the marriage honeymoon but once the couple goes and live together the mask begin to fall down and the habitual I begin to show. Unless the applicant knows what the recruiter is exploring and both are sincere could be fulfilled the purpose of the interview.
I see where you are coming from. But what would you suggest? Hiring without an interview? Spending hours interviewing one candidate? You must have had a negative experience or experiences with recruiters. The whole point of job interviews is to feel comfortable. The dynamic should be a positive experience for both. If feeling anxious and insecure are literally the only feelings for a candidate through the interview process, then this candidate might not be in the right place. Neither when recruiters are evaluating based on prejudices, it is certainly not the company you would want to work for. That's why my number one rule is being honest, when you are honest and well prepared for an interview, there is nothing to be scared of, it all should flow naturally. If it clicks for both parties, great. If it doesn't then there is a reason for it.
Recruiters are trash. I worked in IT from 1980-2017. The last job I got from one was 1986 (only got two jobs in the 80’s from them ). Now they seem to either represent trash companies or companies that never hire anybody because they’re too picky.
Recruitment agencies are the lowest of the low. I despise them. I’ve always found a job through networking. Recruitment agencies are dead weight. I’m surprised nowadays they even exist.
He says recruiters want the best for Both Employee and Employer. That's a lie. These bastards use software to parse your resume. Because they are No longer literate enough to read. Worse, they use deceptive, DE-Humanizing automation and form letters. Thus, they deserve No human respect. Then, they cheat their client (the hiring company). By NOT choosing the "best" qualified or performing candidate. But rather, recommending one that is "safest" for the recruiter to cover his/her own ass. The candidate most likely to stay longer, and balk less.

I'll be keeping this in my mind now that I know what recruiters expect
Glad it was helpful! Best of luck!

Hi Prabhu! Thanks a lot my friend, I am glad you found it helpful. Have a great week!
Thanks for these
You are welcome!
However there are some companies which go on and do a fair recruitment process, where everyone is given a chance.
that's loser talk.
In tech they don't care about how you interview, I have gotten interviewed in casual clothing for the last decade, as freelancer, contractor and regular employee.

Which has been your experience in dealing with recruiters? Were any of these mentioned through your hiring process?
I know social media is important but didn't think they check everything
@@MarcosRodriguez-es4gz They don't check everything and it all depends on the type of company. Some companies can't be bothered!

Recruiters gave time for call..they didn't called even...
Hi Marat!
Did you get the job?
@@love_eat_pray2984 Yes I did. Thank you and thanks Marat. Best regards
So in short, i'm doomed, thanks at least now i know why.
What happened?
Does interviewer or recruiter check fresher's project carefully? Looking every functionality in it ?
Should I enlist into the military??
I bet this is about Headhunting Agencies or Company recruiters, not temporary agency ones? Some headhunters build a strong reputation through their work and they are extremely helpful with everything. But temporary job agencies are awful. And some company inhouse recruiters can be completely clueless on what the job is about
Absolutely, it's about recruiters and/or headhunters. Temporary job agencies work on volume, you can't consider that proper recruitment.
my apologies but the last point i may have to mention its not in everyone's favor reason due to many people are different and different lifestyles to support and enjoy their happiness.
Rude!
OMG! OK, you need to learn how to interview, this is not how you weed out toxic environments, that's how you set yourself up for failure...
Is it more professional to give a single date and time when they ask for your avaiabikity? Or is it better to say that your open whenever for a phone interview
It's an employer market...the amount of bs a person needs to go throught is unbelievable. Free yrself.
How about if you don't have social media.
Then there is nothing to trace, really, just your references.
So its a good idea being on good terms with recruiters?
Definitely!

Recruiters sucks.
They tell me they have a job for me. But won't give me the company name, pay, benefits, job description.

At the end of the day they are trying to find the best candidate for the job. You have to sell yourself to the company
An interview can be a good experience but then working with the manager is a nightmare
