Here in SF we have our clam chowder served inside a hollowed-out round of sourdough bread, that lends a similar experience: A deliciously warming remedy to a foggy day on the shore.

One of my favorite pies to make and eat, thank you posting this.
Being a Brit, I grew up eating fish pie and it was so delicious. We were five kids growing up near the sea, so fish was often part of our meals, with kegeree and fish pie being our favourite fish based comfort meals.
We always add lemons fishermen pie and serve with lemon slices. Growing up along with fishermen shepherd and cottage pie in the same vain you can make drovers pie with minced Turkey and or chicken or garden pie which had lentil carrots peas with a creamy cheeses topping. I still really think if your really going for Harry Potteresque food you should try Staregazer Pie this is defiantly something I see Hagrdi eating

Oh I thought of another month of foods. Make things that have a roux. I love those comfy foods for fall & winter. Scallop potatoes, etc...

Here in the UK we will add prawns (shrimp) and add cheese to the white sauce.

I will admit when I read Fish Pie, I made a face. Now I want to try it.
I thought the same thing but then when I seen the end result it made me think I would really like to try it.

@@donnapaquette9231 Haha. The name, "fish pie" just makes you visualize something gross like fish ice cream or fish cake. Lol. A pie crust and fish don't sound like a match. But, there are Japanese and Korean sausages made of fish called "fish cake". They don't taste bad. It's kinda tasty if you like chewy things.
Ryan's mom Sam here... you could also add Prawns and Muscles to it as well and here in the UK you do get *Fish cakes* 😁 it's made like a fish pie but made into a Patty then dipped in egg and bread crumbs and shallow fried really yummy 😁
@@ryanjackson289 that's like a fritter or croquette. Or, even a fish cutlet, or breaded fish. We sell them in the US in the freezer section.

I’m 75, all my kids are grown but I enjoy watching your family. I’ve watched kind of inconsistently for a few years but I’ve not missed a pie episode so far this month. What a fun idea. For quite a few years we’d get together monthly with friends and take turns making international dinners. Next we’re going to have pie night! Thanks for the inspiration and all the great recipes. The one I’m most anxious to start with…Fish Pie!! Love them all😊

This is a very posh fisherman’s pie, I used to make it for my children without the garlic, perfect autumn pie❤️ Andrew still hasn’t had Kiki s fish pie, this was made with haddock and pumpkin with a puff pastry top😍
Basically a hearty chowder with the potatoes on top .... looked good!

This is really common in Ireland also. They often serve it in mini casserole dishes (the oval ones) as an option in pubs. Or the potatoes are sometimes sliced on top rather than mashed (but mashed is nicer IMO)

I have fallen into pie heaven with these pies. Like you I use onion but lots of Brits will use a leek.It's all good.
yes a family favourate and some of us add boiled eggs cut into quarters into the fish pie as well - sound disgusting but is delish
It actually looks delicious. It reminds me of a dish called chicken Al la king. I believe it's the creamy sauce and potatoes that I remember as a child. I'm anxious to try this one. It looks so delicious. Thank you Megan
Fish pie is my husbands favourite dinner, he requests it for his birthday dinner every year. We always add smoked haddock instead of smoked salmon, also prawns and my mother in law always adds halved hard boiled eggs. The eggs have now become a staple in my version too, although I’ll admit it does still sound very odd.
Your pie videos have become ritual like for me now, I save them to watch once I get all cosy in my bed each night. Going to be very sad when they stop.

I've never had fish pie with salmon and caught I think that's what you used..
It had it with Cod scallops and shrimp...

It can be made and is with cheaper fish , and in the UK can be bought as a ready made dish, the higher the price the more additions . When young and lived by the sea it was considered a good filling staple

I had a fish pie in a pie in Vancouver it was delicious. Glad you added the lemon zest. Think if you like dill you could have added a bit of it as well. Have you thought of a peach and raspberry pie. I make it as a crisp. Delicious.
I was thinking no don’t do it, and then I thought, oh I make a good tuna casserole and I like chicken alaking, and I imagine they’re all similar in flavor. Yesterday I made an apple tart and today I finally did the potato tart, if I were to make the potato pie again I’d put a layer of gruyere on the bottom crust then assemble and use thyme instead of dill. I’m 4-5 pies in (I need to go count pics) I’m not sure how you are almost to 30!! I imagine a big chilled fruit salad is on the radar after all the rich pies. It’s been yummy!

It kinda reminds me of a Tuna Casserole.
You can also add prawns and put fresh parsley in the sauce. M32 in the UK 🌹

Fish pie may not sound wonderful, but I think the cheesy mashed potatoes with it makes all the difference in the world.
Can every month be por month 😻 ? This has been such a fun series to watch! We’ve even been inspired to make a couple pies ourselves this month. Biggest tip I’ve learned: use the microwave to hold recipes! Ingenious.

So much in the name. Fisherman’s Pie is FAR more appetizing to me vs Fish Pie. I might try this one with my family. It sounds intriguing and different and yummy for a cold Western Washington rainy day this late fall, winter or early spring.

Fishermans Pie is my husbands favourite, we add smoked haddock and prawns/shrimp to it too and use a cheese sauce rather than a white sauce, either way he is a huge fan of this pie x
there's many varieties , there's ocean, mariners pie too and I suggest using proper single cream instead of sour cream when making this dish..
You know this has been a really interesting experience for me because when I think of pie I think of desserts because others and popeye's that popeye's that my parents bought at the store we never had any other kind and just experiencing This with you guys has made me want to Braden my horizon's with doing different things I'm not a creature of change and I think I might give it a try I tried it looked good everything you've made so far has looked really good

I had a bad experience with fish back in May I got food poison on fish from a fish restaurant I dair not say the name CD ! Anyway I ended up in the hospital for 13 days sick the whole month of May.
God got me through it and I'm very thankful and I don't know why I just told you all that .

You should make a Croatian farmers cheese pie :) you can buy farmers cheese at any Russian store, it is key

Not a fish fan at all.. but I do agree with Mike when he said he doesn't like hot food.. I am the same way, I will let my food sit for 15-20 mins before I eat it!
