I would like to suggest something to connect with this project. You could make connect a charger and a auto stop charging. This will be my upgrade to the project. Keep doing this type of simple projects. It will be better from complicated most people doing.

But as the voltage increases, the first led is going to get more and more current, while the last led will get reduced voltage, from all of the previous vf from the other leds. The last led will get like 6 volts less than the first one.

No green will no destroy because 1k resistors is enough till 24v
