  • Aeonium are one of the most popular and widespread succulents out there. Some Aeonium cultivars can, however, get too big or grow leggy and tall which may require pruning.
In this video we'll have a look at how to trim and prune Aeonium such as Aeonium arboreum, Schwarzkopf, Sunburst, Big Bang, Mardi Gras and others so they grow into your desired shape.
We'll also cover how to prune Aeonium so it grows bushy, taller and how to fix Aeonium that has grown leggy and too tall.
Aeonium, unlike many other succulents, grow best during cooler weather. This may require you to prune appropriately to your climate. I will talk about when the best time for pruning and planting the pruned branches is in different climates.
One great thing about Aeonium is that anything you've pruned can be propagated and planted in garden or pots in order to grow more. We'll quickly cover how to best propagate Aeonium cuttings in pots as well as the garden.

Thanks for this informative video. I have many black rose aeoniums around the edges of my yard that my mom planted decades ago. Now I feel like I can better care for them, and prop a few.

Oh wow, that must look amazing! Some of mine are coming up to 10 years and have lovely, thick stems ❤
So glad the video was useful and best of luck with propagating. They are pretty easy 🙂

This was a delightful video. Now I understood i cant just repot some of the crasullas and put them on a prayer roll hoping they wl grow up. Especially the stacking ones. Just loved the chubby caviar and the muil and the rococco. And its great to have u propagating them and being busy as a bee in the garden. I have to really try propagation as i havent been good with it. But after the heat wave passes and the rains come. Thanku for a wonderful video as always

I have one of these red varieties in a pot in my garden in the uk. What would you suggest is the lowest temperature for this plant as I intend to bring it in the house when it cools & over winter. Thank you 😊

Hey there! I have the aeonium shown in the beginning. The yellow flower tends to get aphids... How on earth do I stop this?

Hi 🙂 Pyrethrum spray will kill aphids (available from most stores that have a garden section) but it is an insecticide that can kill a lot of good bugs too. If you can, try spray in the evening when beneficial insects tend not to fly. Hope this helps
