As good as this video is, I’m having a problem with the pronunciations! People come to sites like this to learn but come away with wrong pronunciations by “the experts”! Agave is pronounced: Ah-gah-vay with the emphasis on gah. Echeveria is pronounced: Eh-chay-ver-ia. The ch is pronounced like chicken. Kalanchoe is pronounced: Ka- lan-cho. The emphasis is on lan and the ch is again, pronounced like chicken! Sedum is pronounced: see-dum.

Thank you for such an informative video with excellent reference pictures. I’ve been babysitting my mother’s succulent and I’m afraid it might be beyond help ☹️ I only watered it once when I thought the soil was dry (though I can’t be sure my father didn’t also water it) but we then got a series of days with extremely high humidity so that moisture was stuck there. None of us know much about growing succulents and the little guy was already struggling but there’d been some new growth so we were feeling optimistic. It is potted indoors so it sounds like it didn’t have good chances to begin with but it still bums me out that Mum will come back shortly to a dying plant ☹️

@@SucculentGrowingTips Not sure if you tried this, but have you perhaps tried running a Poll on music, and see the percentage of your viewers that prefer it, dont prefer it, or dont mind either way? As for the TH-cam adjustment, that is quite odd, I havent personally noticed it, but to me your music is at a good volume and creates a nice lo-fi calm atmosphere that accompanies your videos well. Its such a tricky balance and its hard to keep everyone happy, at the end of the day, do what you like most and what makes you happiest (At least that is the advice many creators use to deal with divided content issues 😀)

Always wondered about how some succulents can grow from seeds, but never saw them before. Had a much bigger idea of the seeds, and only realized how so many are actually seeds and can spread to other place to try and grow. Fascinating how nature evolves for these guys. Thanks for the great video, I would definitely love mixing and creating hybrids at some stage with similar species, but need more information and research as to not make weak hybrids bound to fail and die.

Another great video! I've got several haworthias about to bloom that I'm planning to try my hand at manually pollinating. Is the seed pod process fairly similar to echeveria? The last time I tried, the flowers kept creating a clear, sticky dew-like substance and I gave up on that round.

Thank you so much 💚 Yes- pretty similar to Echeveria, though it can be a bit of a hit and miss as some hybrids can be sterile. The seedpods on Haworthia are bigger, so if your pollination is successful, you will definitely see it. Best of luck 🤞

I agree lol your "sad" plants dont look neglected at all. my succulents which had been left alone for 2 years in a very shaded area and only got watered when we had typhoons looked so much worse. they were very lanky, dry, etiolated, have uneven and pale leaves and have mealy bugs in them 😅 I think we have been so used to seeing flawless looking succulents(which had been grown meticulously in greenhouses/farms) that we think anything less than perfect is sad and uncared for.

I like your videos. Your advice is so practical. Also, despite the fact that your nursery is a bit far from my home in Texas, your experience with climate swings from high temps, uneven periods of rain, etc. seems closer to my climate than those California wimps with their ideal temps and rain. My question is: I have "babies" poppng out on three of my echiverias that went leggy (before I discovered grow lights). They are at the top of a long stem. Do I leave them on the stem? What do I do when the grow so big that the plant won't stay upright? Signed - Texas Succulent Newby

Thank you so much- glad the videos are useful :) It really does seem like Texas and Aus share a very similar climate! 😀 Re your babies- you can leave them until they become big enough to remove and then you can 'behead' the mother to correct the growth and make her shorter. You read my mind! I found some discarded “sticks” (without any leaves on them) on the footpath down the South Coast at the end of last summer, and I brought them home and tried to propagate them in water. They stayed as sticks for 3 months. I then stuck them into a pot of soil and watered them. Still nothing. Then two weeks ago I went away to the Blue Mountains and crossed my fingers that my plants would all survive. I arrived home this evening to discover that the sticks had magically started growing leaves whilst I was away! I was then able to take a photo and search online to discover that the “sticks“ indeed were Portulacaria Afra! :)

They are just the best plants- really hardy (most of them anyway :) I can see how sanitizer would work as it has a high content of alcohol 🙂 I'd love to see your lovely plants- do you have them on social media?

My succulents are happily growing outside. In the rain and sun. I love your videos. I have learnt a lot.

It’s my hobby to collect as many varieties possible. Strangely it rained cats and dogs for almost 6 weeks here while I was overseas. I was worried about my plants as I have about 50 % in the ground and 50 % in pots. I experienced what I thought was loss of one plant. It was actually loss of 3 plants. The one plant I have not been able to replace yet.

It's raining quite a bit here as well. Good to hear most of your plants survived and hope you'll be able to replace the ones you lost 💚

I am in Cape Town South Africa. I love making arrangements. I see you have all the same plants as I have.

Love your channel , are you aware the web link on the description is not working properly? Would love to know if ypu sell direct to the public as a few you show are not available in nurseries in Australia?
