  • Now that the car is all painted (poorly, because I did it), it's time to start reassembly. I didn't have a 1966 plate laying around so grabbed the one off my Datsun for that "period correct" look.

The down side with the head shots is you can't see if the camera is pointed in the right spot, but other than that, it usually provides a good reference to what you're looking at. :)

The back end looks awesome and it fits the look you keep talking about!! Keep up the good work and just warn us when you use the head shots…got a little motion sickness 😂

Thanks! The head mount is…less than ideal 😂

i dont know if i ever told you, but when i bought my car i knew/was told it was a 65 six cylinder coupe in front (remaining vin confirms correct) mated to the back of an original 66 shelby that was totaled and re"vin'd" in the 70's - and it came from the guy that owned a body shop in california that did the work at the time. california random vin now and i only bought it because it was "cheap" way back when and i was planning to LS swap it anyway.
i had never seen a photo of the rear and when it arrived and it had camaro (i think) rear tail lights. i was surprised and paid a shop near carl to put on a new tail light panel. i have since learned that could have happened in the beginning?
    i should have documented that......

I didn't know yours was a T code front end. I like that generation Camaro as much as the next guy, but the 3 bar Mustang lights are iconic, who would swap those out!? I'm just trying to emulate in a way I can afford Hass Fogle's mustang!

Hey there brother, somehow I lost my subscription for a bit, so I've got some to catch up on.. Though damn!!! That looks amazing 😍!!!! I will forgive you, the "rivets"... My 65 Fastback roller project came painted already, years earlier with several parts not installed. The painted valance, fit horribly, especially in the upper corners, like yours. Also, the lower mounting tabs, we're not their either..!!!
I drilled holes in the lowers corners, for small stainless bolts, to attach it to the car. My painted Chinese decklid, when I tried to fit it, was a terrible fit, and the trunk lock hole, was offset 1 1/2" !!!
    God bless....

It's not stupid if it works, right?

You could just use some flex seal to keep the bumper on. Just sayin............Also, some boomer will notice your rivets 🤣🤣

One step closer! You're planning on racing this, yeah? What type of racing?

    • @SlowInFastOut1776

Just DEs & track days, probably some auto cross, also. It doesn’t conform to any specific class rules & I don’t have the patience to go that far into building a proper race car.

@@SlowInFastOut1776 autocross sounds fun. I dont think my mustang will have a good enough weight balance to do it though
