Beautiful sound. I fell in love with the Hummingbird when I heard Dan Layus of Augustana using it live. He has a 1970 version I believe, it's crisp. There's a crispness to this guitar's sound that is unmatched, really.
Love the new format, lots of great information and killer playing. Awesome sounding guitar. Videos are getting better and better thanks To the great crew at Norman’s !
Brandon is such a great addition to the show. He understands the history of the instrument and explains exactly what is going on with the guitar of the day. He adds so much to engage guitar enthusiasts.
I'm not really a guitar player, but was playing a bar gig with a band (probably bass or fiddle), and for some reason a long time pro player handed me his Hummingbird, and took a break. I played it for 45 minutes with the band, and it would not play a wrong note - just a magic magic guitar! Like it had little magnets that made my finger tips go to every right note, and played so easy and perfect and just fit my hand great. 10 years later (last year) I bought a used J45 (finally had a little money) and really love the feel and tone of that guitar too. Anyone on the fence, just buy the damn thing if you have the money. You won't regret it.
Just got my Hummingbird Original a few days ago and it is simply amazing! I agree that Gibson is killing it with these guitars. I've been looking a long time for the acoustic that I'd finally grow old with, and I have that with the Hummingbird. ☺️
Great playing Michael, especially that little bit of Zep at the end. A nice start to my Saturday! The Humming Bird is one of those iconic guitars that was played by some great musicians and a part of some classic songs.
Great fact check, great playing, great video Jen, and cool the way Gibson aged the binding on the guitar to make it match good with the Heritage burst color. Thanks. 🙏😎✌️
Thank you Brandon, Thank you Jen, Thank you Lemmo, Thank you Gibson! Very well done. Hats off to all, Lemmo with his magic fingers tickling those strings was music to my ears…..Norms never disappoints. You all have a great weekend
Awesome Lemmo. Thank you. And then you couldn’t stop playing it and we got some Rain Song! I’m not sure many people understand how much time and effort you must put into all these tunes! You’re amazing.
Beautiful guitar. The back of the guitar is spectacular. Speaking of specs, thanks for elaborating on the scalloped bracing. Great job all three of you. As always.
I sure learn a lot just watching Mr. Lemmo navigate the fret board with his super cool chord voicings! He is my new guitar hero! I love his song lay there😎🎶🎸🎶🎸🥁🇺🇸🎵👏👏👏
The scalloped bracing allows more rotation of the back and top (at the perimeter edges) allowing more fuller response to the string vibration. Maybe that’s obvious, but I wish they’d spell it out once in a while. Just received my own Hummingbird last week and love it!!!! (been saving up forever).
Love it guys.....as usual, I have to painstakingly watch Michael's hands so I can learn a crummy reproduction. What great playing dude. Thanks! The Zeppelin closer was perfect.
I played a hummingbird about 40 years ago, and it blew my mind. I'm still trying to buy one. I have three guitars. Last 3 purchases will likely be another Les Paul, a Gibson 335 or Yamaha 2200, and a Gibson Hummingbird.
Lovely guitar - tried a couple of slightly older models recently and I think I need one of these! I can take or leave the plug-in option, TBH, but if it's there so be it. Thanks for a good overview!
That opening riff ... Recognize that from the Kevin Ryan guitar demo before lemmo even worked there.... One of my favorite performances on norms TH-cam
Wow Michael you found a sweet spot on the Gibby. Sounded just like Pete Townsend on Won't Get Fooled Again for a brief moment. So good to see the Nitro Lacquer on the top again also. Gibson made the right choice to step up their game on there acoustic geetars. Keep the faith and play on into the future
Michael seems to really like this one. It does sound great and playable. Could you give more background of the amp used? Thank you, Jen for your part in all this :)
Great job guys! Brandon is doing a get job educating us. The way Jen films these videos is excellent and Lemmo is always worth listening to. Well done!
Sounds louder and more lively than any hummingbird I played in the past. I haven’t tried one in 10 years but I tried several back then and they all sounded good but the volume was really low. It’s like they were stuffed full of socks. I’m gonna try one of these new ones next time
I would like it if there was a song list every episode. Sometimes I hear something I recognize but can't name and sometimes I really want to look up the tabs. Great playing as always!
I'm sure that scalloped bracing does increase resonance but I don't think it should be considered high end, rather, essential. Where there's a will, there's a way.
3:00 i have a 2016 j35 with electrics and i think the electrics, the physical wiring and kit inside, add something to the resonance, cos my j35 sounds every bit as good as my 66 J45, which itself is pretty amazing.
I love the new Hummingbirds! I can't bring myself to do anything other than just play one at the shop because I have my dad's '67 with a natural finish that absolutely BOOMS through the mix when jamming or recording. My mom bought the guitar from a guy down the road from them around '75 or so and he didn't have the original case so she bought a VERY damned good close replacement and it has lived in there indoors since then. There is only a slight amount of finish checking on the top, but nothing close to what I see on other 55 year old Gibsons. I only wish I could find an era-correct original case though to finish it off. Maybe Norm knows a guy...*hint hint, nudge nudge* (If so, PLEASE contact me via message here because I want an original case for mine so bad!!) The only issue I have with the current ones is that they cost $4,000 and from all indications my 55 year old one is worth maybe $7k (I still need an appraisal to be completely sure) so I have no incentive to buy one. All I know is that I'd take a Hummingbird over pretty much any other Gibson acoustic model any day. Thank you for the video and amazing playing as always!! Wish Norm nothing but good health and happiness from this guitar lover! For now I'm going to have to order a shirt until I save enough for the next beast! -Will
The Hummingbird is the only Gibson acoustic that's really tempted me. I've always favored Guild acoustics - when I can afford to purchase them. If they're beyond my budget most often, just imagine how out of reach a Gibson Hummingbird is. I almost bought one in May 2005, when I had the cash and the asking price was just below 2 grand before tax. Would've done it - but I had my heart set on a Moog Music Minimoog Voyager synthesizer. I was still also six years out from my first Guild acoustic. Hehehehehehe - "The Rain Song"
Brandon: "Little bit of Hummingbird history to start"
Me: "Oh hell yeah"
Beautiful sound. I fell in love with the Hummingbird when I heard Dan Layus of Augustana using it live. He has a 1970 version I believe, it's crisp. There's a crispness to this guitar's sound that is unmatched, really.

Nice Ian. 1 Thing Throw Out The Idea of Old Age!
Live in Eternity - Now!
Great playing Michael, especially that little bit of Zep at the end. A nice start to my Saturday! The Humming Bird is one of those iconic guitars that was played by some great musicians and a part of some classic songs.
"OUTSTANDING LEMMO"! AND THANK YOU FOR THE ZEPPELIN AT THE ENDING, LOVED IT!
What's the name of the song ?
@@suvok9548 The Rain Song
Don't really remember but it might be, SONG REMAINS THE SAME.
@@SHIFTsvideos Johnny Marr definitely ripped off the Rain Song riff for How Soon is Now.
Michael you can always tell when a guitar speaks to you. What an awesome guitar (and I’m a Martin girl) and great playing as always
The acoustics Gibson have turned out since the takeover have been some of the best they've made in a long time, especially 2021 - present.
2019 I’d say, but I agree
Great fact check, great playing, great video Jen, and cool the way Gibson aged the binding on the guitar to make it match good with the Heritage burst color. Thanks. 🙏😎✌️

This kid never fails to amaze me. He is a guitar genius and a nice guy as well. I know where he’s from my son lived his life 20 years earlier
Dang, Michael can play!!! Gotta go check out his material. Thanks... and BTW, love the green Chucks!!!
Awesome Lemmo. Thank you. And then you couldn’t stop playing it and we got some Rain Song! I’m not sure many people understand how much time and effort you must put into all these tunes! You’re amazing.
Wow...amazing. I could listen to him play all day...beautiful! Beautiful guitar too. 🤙🏻
The DOVE also has a longer scale than the Hummingbird...
Beautiful guitar. The back of the guitar is spectacular. Speaking of specs, thanks for elaborating on the scalloped bracing. Great job all three of you. As always.
Shvweeet. Hats off to all, especially the luthier who set that guitar up. Lemmo is all over that neck like a hummingbird.
Hummingbird, best design guitar.👌
This is my favorite guitar besides the Martin HD 28
That bird sure does hum, beautiful guitar
Love these humming birds reminds me of the stones.
Wow you guys are killing it thanks again for all the information and great music
Awesome spec check!, snap on the green chucks and so sweet with the Zeppelin at the end! such a mesmerising sound.
Wow beautiful sound !!
Yeah, I need me one of those!,,
Beautiful.
I was thinking of Jimmies Acoustic songs.
Magic Pure Magic ! Thank You
God for J.P. !!!
Gibson Montana is building some amazing guitars. That Hummingbird is beautiful!
…once again, I believe someone should present Brandon with a T-Shirt that say’s ‘Dr. Spec Check!’
Great job team!
Finally Jen is filiming a little bit of the Amp. Please let us see more of the amps in those films. Lovely guitar that.
Very nice guitar. Lemmo great as always. Love the delicate Rain Song at the end. Nice bird.
Hummingbird is a big spiritual deal in my world. So I’ve always been partial to this guitar.
I sure learn a lot just watching Mr. Lemmo navigate the fret board with his super cool chord voicings! He is my new guitar hero! I love his song lay there😎🎶🎸🎶🎸🥁🇺🇸🎵👏👏👏

Another inspired demo!
Loved it.
👍✌❤😎
This is best one yet! Love the acoustic performances and sound of this new guitar is amazing!
Jen you were right that was awesome.
Lemmo makes any guitar sound like heaven!
I have 2022 as well I almost sold it you guys but decided to keep it, It sound so fantastic
Beautiful gibson. I love the hummingbirds. Great Lemmo.s job!!!!
DAMN , YOU SURE CAN PLAY THAT GUITAR!
Just looked and that video is 4 yrs old....Lemmo has truly grown as a player
Wow Michael you found a sweet spot on the Gibby. Sounded just like Pete Townsend on Won't Get Fooled Again for a brief moment. So good to see the Nitro Lacquer on the top again also. Gibson made the right choice to step up their game on there acoustic geetars. Keep the faith and play on into the future
I had to hide my credit card after watching this. What a guitar
Michael seems to really like this one. It does sound great and playable. Could you give more background of the amp used? Thank you, Jen for your part in all this :)
Awesome Guitar Mike you can play, that thing..
Just a little last minute Rain Song! I love it.
And thank you Jen for the great great video footages 👌👍

Wow sounds great!!! Really nice playing here!!! I want that guitar !!!
Great sounding guitar 🎸......hey Norm 👌👏👍
Stunning Gibson acoustic!
The open tunings and recent down-beat-only picking only discounts your advanced level talent. Up to you.
I would like it if there was a song list every episode. Sometimes I hear something I recognize but can't name and sometimes I really want to look up the tabs. Great playing as always!
Some great playing, right there!
I could listen to Lemmo play all day long
An amazing voice on that guitar.
Stunning
2nd tune was mesmerizing.
I have the Epiphone hummingbird pro, and as much as I love it, I can’t wait to get one of these on the future!
the intro sounds like "in your atmosphere" from john mayer
I was thinking the same exact thing!
I just heard your album Lemmo..outstanding work..loved it!
Lemmo should plugg his album, sure people will be interested
Pretty bloody good, your signed.
Planned on listening for a bit and stayed for the whole vid. Awesome!
I'm sure that scalloped bracing does increase resonance but I don't think it should be considered high end, rather, essential. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Lemmo is definitely on e of my favourite guitarists !!
It took the Gibson Guitar Co. and a final pinch of Lemmo to make that Humming Bird hum! Dulcet tones for days!
For me it doesn't get better than the Hummingbird, the sound combined with the beautiful pickguard. And yes I prefer a HB over a Dove
Can’t believe how good that thing sounds through a PR
I’ve had mine a couple of months now and it’s for sure an awesome guitar.
Great Demo. Now I want one.
3:00 i have a 2016 j35 with electrics and i think the electrics, the physical wiring and kit inside, add something to the resonance, cos my j35 sounds every bit as good as my 66 J45, which itself is pretty amazing.
Ooohhhh yes Lemmo, great playing but greater guitar love the hummingbird live the vids great work guys and girls 😘
What tuning ?
Right when I seen that Hummingbird I instantly thought of KEITH RICHARDS and his Hummingbird at NELCOTE 1971!!!
When I think hummingbird, I think Stones! It would look nice alongside my j-200. I have been a good boy!
Can you cash app me
I have both….And yes they certainly compliment each other well..
Keep kicking ass Mr.Harris, God bless you sir

Amazing 🔥 - Way to go Michael !!
Love the greeny shoes from Michael😀
Glad you caught that Zep @ the end!👍🏻
Wow what sound

Hehehehehehe - "The Rain Song"
First saw the 3rd song with Lemo on a kevin Ryan guitar.. 2 different guitar.. same amazing playing.
Nice sounding guitar.
Beautifully played Bravo great sound 👌👏👏👏👏
What music is this guy playing? Is it he’s own random thing or is it from an actual song? Either way… it’s awesome 👏🏻
these are amazing guitars
DADGAD then DGCGCD I think ? Hard to tell exactly because my guitar was £300 but you get what you can
Beautiful playing Mr. Lemmo!
Watching Lemmo made me want to pick up my guitar immediately!
Beauty 🤘🤘
Best TH-cam channel for guitar geeks! Haha ❤
