Best laptop I’ve ever owned. It’s INCREDIBLY easy to take apart. On a lot of computers, you have to remove the motherboard to clean the fan, but this one is super simple. I never owned a Samsung laptop before until this one and I love it

Hey bro, quick question, have you ever had any problems using the computer while your are charging it? Because sometimes I have to work at the same time that I'm charging it and the charging port starts getting hot and the fan start working so hard.
@@No.NameAtAll I haven't paid attention to the charging port, but I noticed this computer does get considerably hotter than other laptops when charging. The computer is still really quick, so I don't think much of it, but I wish the laptop would stay cooler.
This video is 2 yrs old, but still very helpful! Of course there a few differences given the time span, but nothing that prevented me from following your overall instructions.
I did have a moment of slight panic when I saw the size difference of the hard drive on your screen vs what was coming up on mine (I think you started the video installing a 1TB, but ended up demonstrating a 2TB) - but other than that, no hiccups, and I greatly appreciate having this video as a resource!
I followed this guide for updating a Galaxy Book2 360 (not the Book2 Pro). It came with a 500G drive, an okay Samsung drive, I updated to a 500G 980 Pro, a better and faster drive. I don't need the extra size of a 1Tb drive, but I like to clone my OS drives for backup/emergency purposes. The 980 Pro 500G now sells for $79 US at Amazon and Newegg, a bit dated, but still a killer drive, especially for that price.
All in all, the steps in this guide worked perfectly for the Book2. The Samsung data migration software was so easy to use, geez, the easists cloning software I've ever used (albeit limited to samsung -to-samsung cloning). I connected the external target drive to the Thunderbolt port, and it worked fine (vs. the USB 3 ports as shown in the video). The one issue I had was stripping the screw holdling the NVMe drive onto the motherboard (aargh), but I finally figured out a way to get it out.
So thaks, TechConnect for a great tutorial. I've cloned HD, SSD, and NVMe drives many times for desktop computeres, but never a laptop, so this was a first. All the necessary steps were listed, and great links to the necesary tools and software. Thanks again.
Just upgrade with samsung 980 ssd 1tb. Installed and works flawlwssly. Samsung migration tool went smooth as silk. No issues or hickups. P.S. Used the MOKiN M.2 NVME SATA SSD Enclosure. Also flawless.
Thanks! I already have a 1TB and was hoping to be able to do this to save money :) Great video
Glad I could help. Let me know how your upgrade turns out.
will that motherboard take a 4th gen M.2 ssd or 3rd gen only?
Thank you for the extremely powerful video.
It helped me a lot to install a bigger SSD in my Galaxy Book3 360 13" myself.
I installed a Crucial P5 Plus 2TB PCIe 4.0 3D NAND NVMe M.2. To clone the original SSD I took the software "AOMEI Backupper". Because the Samsung Data Migration tool only works with Samsung SSDs.
Can you please tell me if you encountered any performance/overheating issues with your laptop since the upgrade? I'm thinking about installing KC3000 but a forum says Gen 4 ssd's are not suitable for slim laptops.
Thank you very much for a clear voice and explanation.
Wait! Did you mention that the RAM cannot be changed or upgraded?
Can we use this samsung migration software for other ssd brands also?
I wonder which version of the galaxy book pro you have? I have the 15 inch core i7 16 gb version, and my boot up time is 5 seconds until lockscreen appears. and i have not done any upgrades...

Hello, I just want to ask whether this laptop support gen4 (PCIe 4) ssd or not???
can i upgrade my Galaxy book (15.6" , i3, 8gb) with a ssd 2280?
easy step and clear voice
How’s the battery life on yours? Mine is brand new 13.3” as well and only holds battery for 3-4 hours…
As it relates to boot time, I just timed mine with the original 512gb hard drive, and it booted in 8.65 seconds. So while yes a faster drive has it's benefits I'm sure, I don't know that I would credit the upgraded drive with it booting under 9 seconds. With that said, my drive upgrade will be here tomorrow lol.
You must be testing differently the drive that comes in is inherently slower then a 970 or a 980 evo.

Hi Rivers. Thanks for this very informative video. Is there a limit to the SSD size the Galaxy Book Pro can run?
I've got a 512 GB 2242 Nvme, and would like to add a 2 TB or even 4 TB 2280.

It might have something to do with the tool he's using 🤷
does it work with the Samsung galaxy book Flex 2 5g??
Thank you for your clear explanation. Sorted out my doubt about whether RAM could be expanded. Now I know I can't expand the RAM but the way to make it faster is to change the SSD. By the way, did your upgrade reduce the amount of time the fan was on? i.e. did it reduce burden on the core processor?
As far as I know SSD does not relate to the processor’s temperature/time the fan is on.
I just recently bought the pro 360 13” and I do not see an M.2 slot. Is the SSD soldered on along with the memory in this model?
The M.2 slot is under the black paper. There is also a silver heat shield on there too. Just lift the black paper up and lift the silver heat shield up and then put it back on after you install your new SSD.
Data migration tool stays greyed out. Could you explain how to make it read? Both options aren't able to be selected.
Galaxy book pro 13 it 256gb and want to upgrade to 1tb 980
Mine stays grayed out too. I used Samsung Migration tool. On my Lenovo 940 it was also not showing up when using the Sabrent Migration tool. I ended up making a disk recovery thumb drive, putting the new M.2 drive in (after I formatted it as a Simple drive) and then reinstalling the software from the Recovery thumb drive I previously created. (used a 32 GB USB thumb drive with a Type C to Type A adapter).
@@Connor_Dempsey easy fix is to clone the drive to the larger nvme. Have a USB bootable drive with W11. Then format C drive and everything works perfectly. Be sure to back up files. It's the way I did it since my computer was still new and didn't lose anything
Is the galaxy book 2 pro SSD the same as yours? Is it worth it upgrading? Thanks for video
Yes, the 13 inch models have the same drives. Note that the 15 inch on both gets an extra SSD slot so you can run them in RAID.

The data migration always fails for me, do you know what the cause?
It is a amazing design for a laptop but they kneecap the laptop at 8 gigs of RAM. I mean if it had 16 it would be so much more useful. I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 to replace my current 13in Hewlett-Packard Envy. The more RAM is definitely a help because you lose some to Onboard video. But having more RAM makes it a better thin-and-light for travel productivity
The I7 model comes with 16gb of ram my guy, that's the model to get. Don't need to get the pro360
@@LukeM2 I happen to really enjoy my 13in HP Envy. When I'm sitting at a desk I can use it as a regular laptop and when I get up and walk around the house we're going anywhere I can easily convert it into a tablet. I just need one that can convert. Which is why I wish it would have more RAM

You also dont explain how the data migration stays greyed out. It don't work and your drive isn't what is said on screen
I appear to have bricked my laptop by following the directions. The symptom is, no matter whether I use the old or new drive, the computer only shows a very slick, large battery image with the charged percentage, and a running clock. Almost like it was a giant phone's lock screen. It appears it doesn't even try to boot from the drive.
Perhaps I broke some connection while doing the procedure.
On the other hand, perhaps it is because I didn't disconnect the battery and drain it before replacing the HD. I have been told, and read, that it's wise to do that, as follows: Disconnect the battery (the white connector in the middle of the battery's lower edge, in the orientation shown in in the video), then hold the power button for 20 seconds in order to drain any remaining power in the circuitry. Then remove the old drive, insert the new drive, and re-connect the battery.
Live & Learn. I feel dumb. Please consider adding this info to the video.
Has anyone else had this problem, and even more important, have you been able to fix your laptop?
Just opened mine for the first time and there's a screw missing from the heatsink. Never had any issues but this really annoys me
The solded RAM is a big let down... but a faster SSD really makes difference
I just have one question...
where is the ram?? 🤔
I have a Galaxy Book Pro 13" 5G with 256gb and wanted to upgrade the SSD to 1TB and after opening the cover there was no visible SSD slot to be had. A bit disappointed but the laptop is great and now have to selectively load programs due to limited space.
I finally upgraded to a 1tb SSD. From my research it's supposed to use a 2242 SSD but it actually uses a 2230 SSD and I finally found where the SSD resided, it's under the metal looking cover off center. Too bad the RAM can't be upgraded. I love the laptop more now that there's ample space.
I found it's pretty difficult to put the bottom panel back on properly and if it's not absolutely perfect the touchpad will get phantom clicks.
is it possible to upgrade RAM and SSD to 2TB?
On this laptop the RAM is built onto the motherboard so you can't really upgrade it. But you can definitely upgrade the SSD and it will increase the performance more than a RAM upgrade anyway.
@@Somecooltech1 is there a way for the Samsung 980 2TB to be accepted? The migration software won't recognize it.
