I had a P71 for about a year until the transmission blew up. It was a really great car. I may have done a top speed run or two as well lol

Keep the car stick a t56 in it
Mines at 185k right now really hoping the trans lasts me another year or so. Once that goes i plan on manual swapping it cuz the engine is in great condition
What milage and year?
@@cjsnidlio9409 mine was a 2008 and it had 200,000 kilometres when it blew up.. but it’s fine gas prices were soaring in Canada and I couldn’t afford the $125 fuel stops lol. I ended up buying a 2009 Nissan Sentra for $500 and have had it for the past 3 years with no issues.
Sounds great, wish they were still out and had the coyote 5.0
I say 7.3L Godzilla because of durability. Coyotes are tough, but not 4.6L 2V tough. I’d think the Godzilla would outlast the Coyote by a lot. 7.3L Godzillas haven’t been out long enough to really tell though, I guess. I just figured it would.

To me, this was the best sounding Ford engine aside from the legendary 5.4 supercharged in the 05 FGT
The best sounding 4.6 in my humble opinion is the 3V variant. But man, there really is something special about the 2V 4.6 they put in these Crown vics. They 100% have a very distinct sound.

I have a 2010 CVPI just like this. But I’ve never broken 3,000 RPM as long as I’ve had it, simply because since it’s mine and I’m overprotective. I know it really wouldn’t hurt much to do it every now and then, but I can’t bring myself to do it. I’ve done it plenty to other peoples CVPIs and Grand Marquis though lmao but the beauty of this is I can hear what it sounds like as much as I want and not have to feel bad for tearing it up hahaha
I had a 2008 p71 with 300k that I went WOT constantly. They can handle it , don’t be afraid ; )

@@mettetal I know they can its just hard with my own lol I worked for two police depts around Birmingham, AL in 2016 and 2017 and we drove the Hell out of them and they never hurt the engine or anything.
@@mettetalHell yea, these things are tough as shit.
I wish they’d also have 5.4L 2Vs since they’re really just bigger versions of the same engine. The 5.4L 3Vs would not be able to handle it at all though. They’re powerful, but they really do have to be babied to survive. The 2Vs can handle anything tho. Simplicity is wonderful.
@@ESPLTD322 these 2v's are just pure dogs. I mean that in a good way lol. I don't have any experience with the 5.4L but I know the 4.6 loves the punsihment and they love to run, i mean just absolutely scream. I give mine several WOT pulls daily and it takes it well, still runs strong.
Those crown vics would have had so much potential to be somewhat speed driven if they used a 5-speed auto or 6-speed auto instead of a four-speed with insanely long gearing
Those 4.6L CVPI sound amazing!!! I miss my 3.0L taurus!
Gotta Love that car. But all I could think the whole time I was watching your video is is this guy really doing a top speed run without his fucking seat belt on LOL
This must have the 3.27 rear end, I think the top speed was 129-130. The P71's with the 3.55 was limited to 119.
My 3.73 hit 140, my 3.55 hit 140 & my 3.27 his 140. The P71 has no speed gov from factory just hp & RPM limited
Now try that in the old school pre-1991 models when they had the 5.0L or 5.8L Windsor V8. Those sound even meaner. I have an '89.

One can actually feel the whining sound of the engine at higher rpms
I had a 94 and took it to Montana in 98. Got it up to 130mph +. It seemed to still be accelerating. But it started to shake rattle and roll. It backed off before it forgot it was a car and transformed into a plane.
Mine is pretty stable at 130, just gotta make sure you're locked in!
I've done a lot of freshening up on the car since posting this video, might post an updated one soon.
@@burnoutproductions299 I have a 2007 now. But Montana has a speed limit now..
@@jeffreydavidconner Speed "limits" are merely suggestions
I had a 94 P71 back in the early 2000's. Damned thing didn't have speed limiter, just an rpm limiter. 3.27 rear, 5800rpm roughly 138-140mph. Took it one day down the highway past a buddies house maxxed out and they told me the suspension was lifted up as far as it would go from all the air going under it. I believe it by the way it handled at those speeds lol. Excellent cars, have had 7 of them total. I have an 08 GMQ nowadays with an aviator 32v 4.6 in it and a few other mods. Helluva car, for stoplight running or long distance. Still probably get its ass handed to it by a Camry though in a straight line lolol
Bro what road is this, I will drive all the way there just to be able to do 140 without getting a ticket or arrested.
Why do all crown vics stop reving after shifting to second and after start pulling again?
Man I have no clue! Been wondering that myself, boy do I hate it! Possibly something to do with the coverter?
2th gear 4000rpm indeed... i always wondered! They all have that!
Thats the torque management system. Thats what made the 97-98 Mark VIII's slower than the 93-96's even tho they had more power. I'd imagine trans tuning would take care of it. I had a 97 F150 with the 5.4 that would do the same exact thing, actually right when it started to shift to 2nd at WOT, you can feel the power pull back quite a bit, and it took a couple of seconds to come back. I installed a B&M street/strip shift kit on it, it beefed up the valve springs in the valve body. It was a night and day difference, in fact at WOT the tires would chirp going from 1st to 2nd. The acceleration improved drastically

I want one to daily drive and put “Blues Mobile” in the rear window 😂
bro why does yours look so much faster 0-60?? i have a couple vids of mine, and it seems way slower. i also have a 2010 interceptor

Imagine a sparkplug letting go the minute he hit 120
good thing its got brand new plugs
Out of all of the 4.6's I've had over the years, never had a sparkplug pull the threads. I mean combined over a million miles. 400K on one engine alone. Maybe luck I don't know lol
Would Love to here the 4.6 backed by the 10 speed!
My opinion on 10 speeds is that they are too unpredictable
My buddy has a 10 speed Silverado that he pulls a trailer with and he hates it
