The fabric on the side of the seat is actually quite smart. A lot of people slide across the seat when they get in and out which puts a lot of wear on the edge of the seat, especially with the edge of the plastic panel there. Leather tends to crack and tear in that spot over time. Jeep Grand Cherokee has the same design.

Buick could of used a electronic steering wheel mounted gear selector. A drink splash could mess up the gear shifter and make it so the car won't move.
Buick nailed it on the Avenir's beautiful exterior (five stars, although dual chrome exhaust pipes & led fog lights would have raised the bar a couple of notches), that said the interior is lacking in a couple of important areas which to your credit you already pointed out such as the lack of a 100% digital dash, chrome speaker covers & rear vent trim also missing is stitching on the passenger's dash side. As for my preference I'm eagerly awaiting the all new 2022 Infiniti QX50 which I think will be awesome & a step above the Buick Avenir in every regard except for the cost which the Avenir will definitely have that going for it.

How well does it compare to say a MAZDA CX-5 Signature? I like the MAZDA styling, QUALITY, power and safety features. Then there's tehCX-5 steering feel and good handling. That's a high bar for the Avenir to match, let alone beat.
The previous Envision 2.0T had very good handling, braking,, an very smooth ride quality.. The 2017 Buick Envision 2.0T is putting down a faster 27.5s figure-8 time vs 2019 CX-5 2.5T and 2019 RDX 2.0T at 27.7 in Motor Trend testing. That continues in an Emergency Lane test by Consumer Reports that has the Envision 2.0T doing 55.5 mph while the CX-5(non-turbo) did 54 mph and the RDX 2.0T can only go 52.5 mph. For 2019 Envision 2.0T gets a new 9-speed and 295 lb-ft of torque, 316 lb-ft of torque on overboost. The twin clutch and torque vectoring AWD is something that Mazda cannot match only able to use brakes on a single on a wheel for torque vectoring. The Hiperstrut, as also seen on Honda Civic Type-R as dual axis strut, eliminates any torque steer under accleration. At a discounted $35K the Envision Prem ll offers heads up display, adaptive high beams and articulating HID, adaptive cruise control with full stopping, tri-zone climate control, sliding rear seat, 12-volt outlet, along with Buick's longer warranty than Mazda.
I recently purchased a one owner 2000 Lesabre with 115K miles which looked like the owner kept garaged. It's ride is phenomenal! I only paid $2,500 & couldn't be happier, I have a new passion for Buick's after owning this vehicle! I watched a mechanic on UTUBE who said that the engines in the Lacrosse were a pos but the Lesabre 3800 was the best even better that the Honda engine. What I didn't know was that RollsRoyce used a GM motor at one time Bc they were smooth & perfect!...CHEERS!
@@gregholman2930 Sounds like a good deal. If you have any trouble with the *power windows*, you can probably fix it yourself. (Check for youtube videos, of course, for guidance.) You might want to keep a roll of duct tape in the trunk--in case one of the windows 'falls down' into the door. Just realize that this is a very common problem & don't freak out when it happens. Part costs about $40 on ebay, I'm guessing. My only other problem involved the transmission 'hard shifting' occasionally. I've heard that some filter needed to be cleaned. It involved taking off the left front wheel. An independent shop might charge you $300-$400 for this job. I traded my Buick before having such a repair done. Also, remember that the battery is located under the back seat!
Notice the front air vents seem to be small. Don't know how well that would work on a hot day. Also the utube adds are very annoying, just like they want them to be. Changed over the past few years....and not in a good way.
Buick has to follow up with stylistic improvements to the rest of their lineup in order to be considered a legitimate brand. Only having one knockout vehicle isn’t enough to bring me to their customer following. That’s an important reason why they haven’t had a loyal relationship with the driving public for the past half century. Inconsistent design evolution has certainly slowed their growth. Take heed otherwise the junkyard of failed brands such as Saturn, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile awaits.
The Buick Emcore has been the sales leader for the brand and now offer a bigger Encore GX. The Enclave is currently at the top in Consumer Reports rankings 3-row luxury segment.
I agree..its a really nice looking vehicle. The only issue with me is GM cut some corners with interior trim, like no felt lining inside glove box, front posts and the inside of center console storage. Again the engine could've had 250hp at least .and I see there are no side mirror turn signal lights. Its a tough sell because there's many options out there that compete with this Envision.
The headliner in the interior should be a darker color because the light colored headliner will eventually get dirty and look aged after frequent use of the panoramic sunroof. Also, arguably baby boomers have the accrued capital to afford a $40K vehicle so there is a threshold of demographics that Buick is more interested in beyond just appealing to “younger shoppers”. People buy Buicks because of the respect that the brand represent within the history of automotive engineering in America but more importantly they buy Buick because like Cadillac and Lincoln, Buick represents a certain aspect of achieving the American dream. Arguably this is why Buicks have become so popular in China: the history of Buick in America is the vision that the Chinese has for personal accomplishment and achievement for its own citizens. Yes Buick has had to change with the times but do not be misguided. Buick is more than just an American automobile brand operating as a multinational corporation in the Asian Market. They are a car company who has a history engrained in loyalty, the belief in human accomplishment and the achievement of the American dream and the accessibility of it to all.
Regarding your comments about more horsepower and/or torque. I'm guessing this is due to US CAFE regulations. When you only offer 3 models, it doesn't leave a lot of "wiggle" room. Otherwise, a nice overview.
This 2021 Envision looks the part and smokes the Acura RDX in 30-50 mph, 50-70 mph and best the 60-0 mph stopping 15-feet shorter in Car & Driver testing. Such good price too!
You have to see this vehicle up close to really appreciate the design. Even in the preferred trim this vehicle smokes the competition. The options packages are extremely easy to navigate and honestly, right now, no one is offering the discounts on their "compact luxury SUV" that GM is offering on the Envision. On paper the mechanics of this car is on par with vehicle like Audi Q3, Mazda CX30 Turbo, Mercedes GLA, the BMW X1 for 10s of thousands of dollars less. Factor in the fact that the AWD system is torque vectoring similar to Acuras SH-AWD, the cost of ownership is far less than its European competition and the only foreseeable new entry performance competition might be the Genesis GV70 and the Envision moves to the top of the list of best non luxury brand compact SUVs to consider as a best value for the price. I am about a year from my next car purchase but the Envision Avenir is already at the top of my list for consideration.
Except no one pays MSRP, do they? Maybe mention the competition but Envision covers a large spectrum as the new 2021 Envision 2.0T is down to $26-27K where the economy Japanese are.
I am disabled and why is General motors putting the gas tank on the right side? Why do American auto companies, especially GM, HAVE TO TRY TO BE LIKE FOREIGN CAR MAKERS?!!?!
I own the previous gen 2018. The sides of the front seats are still leather on mine, not on this. The touch screen is now angled up, which means if the sunroof is open or the glass window is exposed, there is going to be a ton of glare on the screen. It appears the gauge cluster they give less information than before - the alternator regeneration is removed for example. Worse, this car has less horsepower than before for better fuel economy and slower acceleration although it is still adequate. For 2022 the air ionizer will be removed as well so if you want this, you have to buy this years model. The rear seat controls are reduced as my car you control the temperature with a separate fan control - but it has been removed here. Also you could tilt the rear seats back in my car, you no longer can do that here. And this is the top of the line model? I will pass.
Not impressed by the interior at all. So many missed opportunities especially for the Avenir trim. Window switches look like every other Buick, the cloth sides of the seats, the gauge cluster, door panels look cheap. I guess it will all come down to price, but for the mid 40’s, I would say the much larger and powerful Palisade or Telluride are still nicer and a better value. Too many basic GM parts are thrown around and the inside to justify that price with that same 2.0 turbo they have used for years now. I will say that the outside is beautiful with the exception of those taillights. Those remind of aftermarket lights someone would put on a riced out Mitsubishi Eclipse.
This 2021 Envision 2.0T is as low $27K and quite the bargain compared to the Japanese economy models like CR-V and RAV4 on autotrader. The Avenir trim is middle $30's.
I own this Buick and let me tell you it is solid.Telluride is cheap inside.Take a look at there grap handles you can shake them all over.Plus Kia fall apart after 5 years.

Regarding your comments about more horsepower and/or torque. I'm guessing this is due to US CAFE regulations. When you only offer 3 models, it doesn't leave a lot of "wiggle" room. Otherwise, a nice overview.
Buick's are starting to look better but I don't like the frown built into the face of this SUV. It reminds me of the frown on the Toyota Highlander.
buick is best
you forgot that the avonenir come standard with massage seats. The car car would be perfect if it came with just a little bit more power
Yes I did leave that out! And agreed on the power.
I agree
This Buick competes Damm close to conquering the Mazda CX-5..👍👍💞
@@mykeonthemove I have only seen them in passing while walking thr dogs. Quite the head turner!
Features/power match up with mercedes gla/glb
Austin up your game you should know the MSRP of the cars you review too important to the consumer.
Except no one pays MSRP, do they? Maybe mention the competition but Envision covers a large spectrum as the new 2021 Envision 2.0T is down to $26-27K where the economy Japanese are.
"You DO have".
Sold!!!
Thanks for the info.
Needs full digital gauge cluster.
I agree 100%
Michael Bay level lens flair.
Hahaha I’m not THAT good
Not impressed by the interior at all.
Can’t get past the fact that it’s Chinese made...
How many things are in your home that's made in China? Those things, you don't seem to mind. Why does it matter more for this car?
@@jeffs6090 some regions are known for specific proficiencies in manufacturing. Chinese are known for speed, quantity, and affordability. Germans are known for precision, which is usually more expensive. Swedes, practicality, ingenuity, cleverness. Japanese, quality. So on and so forth.
This is how the world manufacturs, with each nation being more or less proficient for the type of manufacture that they bring to the market.
It's not a knock against China, but they're not known for high quality, They're known for being affordably made.
When I bought my first iPhone, I could not get over the fact that it was made in China. Now many iPhone models later and many more to come, I don't care. My N95 respirator mask is made in China, and I won't leave my house without it. When I was a kid, people made fun of Japanese cars and would not get caught dead in one; now, these same people who are now senior citizens only buy Toyota's or Honda's. The world is constantly changing; you either change with it or get left behind. I will be leasing a 2021 Buick Envision Avenir when my current lease expires in June. No disrespect meant.
@@ivanC_22 our 2016 Envision Prem ll was perfect and nicely discounted. When we traded it it was worth much more than KBB said and we got $9,000 off a Regal TourX.
I think the Cadillac XT5 may be a little better than this
Overpriced but nice quality vehicle
I'm a boomer, son, and not DEAD yet. Lol.....snowflake funny
The part of the video while he is driving, he doesn’t let you see the road in front of him. He just let’s you see his face. Which is ridiculous. But the envision is highly overpriced mid 40’s is way to high, as compared to the needs of the younger public.
Well I’m talking during the drive, so what sense would it make to really have it on the road most publications do this anyways...
@@IAmTheKiaKing most videos should the look in front as they drive. To see better how the car handles
@@Raptor-bt6zp I don’t see how that’s prove that, but I’ll keep note.
Why look at the road?
See autotrader for nationwide prices. I think you will be shocked they are so cheap!
None of these Buick are built in America? Assemble !
Enclave?
Love the car, but can I trust the quality made in China?🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice exterior but cheap looking dash and dated analog gauges
Just bought one . Trade my GMC ACADIA for this one ( mines) is a six banger. No hUD for me But might get it later.
lots of road noise
You say it's "your favorite compact SUV" in some time....but....in the first few minutes of the video you lodge at least a dozen complaints. Make up your mind. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Nothing is perfect!
Review about 20 mins too long.
Made in China? I would never buy it.
Made in China.
So is half of your closet!
Sorry , looks cheap 👎🏾
Everyone has their opinion!
It does look cheap !!! Was thinking the same when he showed the controls.
Too much plastic in the interior.
