As an FL5 owner since February, if you liked the car that much just doing that soft casual driving, you will absolutely love this car when you push it through some windy roads. It's basically a FWD Japanese Porsche. Buy your buddy a tank of gas to get him to really let you test drive this thing after it's been broken in.
Im totally in LOVE with my Crystal Black FL5.
I loved watching all the videos you made on your STI. Loved watching how you modified it over time. I picked up an FL5 in Aug. I loved my STI, and always wanted one. But my heart was always in Hondas. Hopefully you do pick up an FL5. You won't regret it.
I picked mine up may of 2023 and I absolutely love it. Came from a 21 sti and I daily it. Reliable, decent mpg and a ton of hatch space that I fit a 65 inch tv in haha. Wouldn’t trade it for anything on the market below 80k. I would love to see your take on building one of these beasts!
And I do like the red the most, I got CW but the production numbers on red are so low they’re actually pretty “rare” if you can find one! Lowest production color.
I’m considering one too. Red on red is what I want as well
Dude you’re awesome man. I watched your old STi videos which lead me to get a 19’ STi and recently I’ve been deciding between the F80 my dream car, and FL5 my new recent favorite! I was already surprised you got an F80 but I’m even more surprised that you love the FL5 too! We have the same taste in cars 😂.
Great minds think alike 👍🏻
I did the same. Was deciding between the new FL5 or an F80 which, like you, was one of my dream cars and happen to currently be roughly in the same price range. Ended up finding a clean mineral grey with individual interior 6mt zcp. Have zero regrets. Although I still wonder what it's like to drive the FL5 all the time
I highly recommend you get one, it really is an amazing car!
Just got my 24 R type in Sonic Grey Pearl and absolutely love this car !👍🏻👊🏻
I say get one !!!!!
Congrats! It’s an awesome car.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Thank you !
it is such a killer daily, loving mine so far
I personally love the FL5 because of the exterior and interior and how it performs. I say FWD is so much better at handling over the Supra or GR Corolla or Subaru STI. Can't go wrong with the Championship white.
love the way this one looks. so much more mature, but still aggressive with the big beefy fenders and quarters.
I agree. It’s awesome that Honda actually listened to what everyone was saying. It looks so much better overall and truly a great looking car.
I loved what you did to the STi, curious what you would do to an FL5. You should get one.
I love your videos so much
Thank you! Appreciate the support.
I love mine. Reminds me of 90s BTCC cars. Traded my Macan for it, couldn't be happier.
I just picked up a 24 type R in Championship white love it man I would get one if I was you!!!!
Bought new Sonic gray 24M FL5 two weeks ago. Really enjoying it. Traded in 24M Si for it.
Glad you finally got into driving one! I love mine best bang for buck for sure!I still have a fantasy for German cars. Being jdm all my life I think I’m ready to break into M cars.
You won’t be disappointed!
Don't, you'll miss the track car feel.
@@sbklvr eh I like going fast in a straight line mostly. I rarely take this car in the canyons let alone a track lol
bought a 24' CTR in championship white for a daily, wanted something warrantied and so far it is a killer daily
It would be awesome to see a fl5 build on the channel
I think so too.
Get the FL5 and get the Acura Integra Type S suspension module. I had an FK8 and now the DE5 and I love it! I also had a MK7.5 Golf R, G42 M240i, and 2016 WRX. All great but I love rowing the gears on the Honda/Acura the most.
White or blue look great
This is hilarious, I have had the same thing since January. The FL5 is so much better than the FK8 which I also owned. The quality on this car is so much better in person and when driving for sure. I love mine.
Not surprised you have one haha. You’ve owned almost everything at this point haha. But yeah, everything about the fl5 is a win in my book. Really considering one for a new daily.
@@Scoobyfreak86 I'd be stoked to see that dude. Aftermarket is really strong as well.
If you could get your hands on a FL5 for a good deal in your favourite colour go for it! Its such an amazing car to drive. Ask your mate if you could take it for a spin if hes over the break in process. The full potential of the car is mind blowing at high speeds.
I believe we have the same taste in cars bro 😂. Great minds think alike!
I have both a Type R and GRC and rotate them both for work. Ill have the most miles on both here soon. I post my updates on the Reddit pages for both cars
Did he get it at MSRP? Any markups?
I’d love to see you drive and give a review on the Acura integra type S
If I can get my hands on one, I’d love to take one for a drive. Would be interesting to after driving the type r.
If i can get one i would like to add it to the fleet
Thanks for the honest review. It’s definitely growing on me, but it’s never made my short list when it came time to buy.
I really like the new integra type s would definitely daily one
Definitely a great looking car as well. Would love to drive one and see what I think after driving the fl5.
Might want to drive the integra type s first if you decide to go Honda platform
Would love to get my hands on one to take for a drive and see what I think.
this car is too scooby freaky
Got any thoughts/impressions of the acura integra type s?
I haven’t driven one so can’t comment too much on it. The only feedback I’ve heard is that they are a bit softer than the type r. I do like how they look though, but still prefer the type r focus and styling points. I wish the Integra was a bit more enthusiast focused like the old days.
Can you feel the quality difference between the Honda and the F80 M3? Not that they compete against each other, just curious.
Very much so. It’s in a different league, but the fl5 feels closer to a German than the STI did.
Have you ever considered an Ultimate Clutch Pedal for the F80. I mention this in view of your thoughts on the Honda’s clutch.
I have looked into it before and it’s on my list for sure. Planning on doing an auto solutions ssk and will do the clutch pedal at the same time.
@@Scoobyfreak86 I have the AutoSolutions SSK and the CDV valve delete on my F80. UCP is last on my list. Maybe we can do it together!! 😊
@RAElias I’m just waiting for Ronald to get back to me on everything. I submitted my form and requirements so it’s just a waiting game now.
@@Scoobyfreak86 I remember the first day I had it installed, it almost felt gated! It’s was so tight. It definitely breaks in a bit.
FYI, Ronald does not recommend upgrading both the front and rear shifter bushings. He offers the front upgrade, but I think you may have already upgraded the rear? If so, you may wish to speak with him about that.
@RAElias yes I have the turner rear bushing. I’ve talked to a few with this installed in the as ssk and they said it’s great. I’ll see what Ronald says and go from there.
I have 2016 STi and I truly want to trade it for an FL5 but the dealer mark up is preventing me from doing it. How much did your friend get it out the door? Yeah, you should get a red FL5. It would be a great content to your channel!
Dealers are starting to cave. They realize the cars are sitting now. There are some out there still being greedy, but you can get them for MSRP now.
@@Scoobyfreak86 yeah man, I work at a dealership and we had a used 2023 Civic SI for trade-in. I test-drove the damn thing and I was hooked.! The Type R is probably even way more better to drive. I just hope the STI has a good trade-in value to at least lessen the price of the CTR.
I want a honda s2000 to go with my m4. To have a convertible in the nice weather days would be awsome. The wife would never go for it tho 😂😢
Get one can go wrong with type r
It’s not that red is unpopular, it’s that they barely make any red fl5s
The only complaint I have of my new type r is I can’t take with me in the after life.
Would you take a type r over a STI??
That’s a good question. As much as I loved the STI, I think I’d pick the type r at this point. It just feels more solid and put together. Feel like it would require less to get it to where I want it. And these motors can handle 500 no problem.
@@Scoobyfreak86stock with a custom tune is running me around 370whp. Sure you lose awd but when I had my fbo sti I was never launching it because I was afraid to blow it up 😂 still handles better than an sti
Nice! Yeah for the quick drive I did, it impressed me. Felt more composed and together. I’m sure they are a blast to modify and throw around. Hoping to get the car back in my hands once it’s broken in a bit more.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Thank You!! I’m debating right now if I should get a STI or a FK8/FL5. 😅
I’d go for an fl5 personally.
If i had a f80 M3, i feel like the Type-R would be a step back. Personally i would not pick one up, i would go with the g80, or preferably save for the Porsche
This wouldn’t be a replacement for the f80.
If it is just a daily, then I would consider getting one for sure! They are great daily drivers.
Yes would be the replacement daily.
You’re comparing a 45k msrp to a 65k msrp. 20k difference. People have zombie brains these days, goofy ass people
I’ll be honest bro and sure u can say I’m biased because I own one but at the same time I’m stating facts that have been tested by me and by buddy who is a road test editor. As much as a great car the m3 is I’ll never discredit it because I like it too, but from a handling perspective it trumps the m3 in every way out on any backroads and track feel as well. Of course the m3 will beat it in the straights and gain time because more hp but that’s not the purpose of the type r( can u build it for that, yes ). If going fast straight is all u like then the car isn’t for u, and can buy literally whatever v8 and call it a day. But if u want one of the most raw, engaging, absolutely perfect handling steering feel and Porsche level driving experience then u buy the type r. After going head to head with multiple bmws including m3 cs and and m4 csl the Honda bully’s those cars on the back roads and beats it every time in speed and driving experience. Not saying those cars weren’t nuts cus they definitely were insane. And the only way u can beat this cars driving experience is u buy a gt4rs and up. Ask literally any car reviewer it is Porsche perfect. At the end of the day it’s a matter of what u want and like in a car. Both cars are great but this Honda is SPECIAL.
