Just literally came back from x50 test drive. I have to say that the car drives so well. The ride and suspension is very decent. The engine is also punchy, very effortless to reach 100km/h. Gear change is also pretty smooth. I also like the driver seat too.
    Cons:
    - wind noise is pretty noticeable at 115km/h. I guess if i were to buy this car, i would. consider doijg some noise insulation.
    - instrument cluster looks a bit busy. Could be better.
If I am looking for a car that drives well, with good engine and suspension, x50 is definitely on top of the list.

True , Malaysia Bolih will becomes Malaysia Tak Bolih if Proton still persist with Mahathirism old school of taught and influence in producing " Milo Tin " car body structure, lack of safety , using outdated Japanese engines , terrible uninspiring design, poor quality fit and finish except good air cond , leaking water inside car boot, terrible car seats causing back ache, rusty door panel, car roof emitting sounds due to epoxy usage ( not welding), shattered proof windscreen, low ground vehiclev clearance, high vehicle prices , rejected by buyers in overseas market like in UK , Australia, Brunei even Indonesia and so on in not bringing in good foreign exchange but always need TONGKAT from Malaysian TAX PAYERS to stay alive .
Driving an old proton like SAGA, WIRA , PERDANA felt so scary in those days till we always had to be very careful to avoid
SATU KALI LANGGAR ,SATU KALI MATI.
👆Note: Drivers are good but the Car being driven is dangerous to live with "
Thanks to new management of Proton team, Proton had becomes a Malaysia affordable, high quality , latest technology , safer and more beautiful than ever car design that had re captured the Malaysian car buyer Hearts once again even export markets . Now we really call this. " Malaysia Bolih" and a milestone achievements .

@@konsen6149 some of the facts your wrote as per above are not relevant and misleading, pertaining on Proton performance & development prior Geely bought 49.9% stake of Proton
Proton Cars during 2005~2016 eras might tell you otherwise.
Apart from the great handling contribute from aquisition and learn how of techniques from Lotus PLC has makes all models of Proton Cars are fun to drive and safe in Control during driving starting from the eras of Hot hatch Satria GTI (sans rebadged models like Perdana from Accord platform and Ertiga due to Licensing and agreement with respective manufacturer)
Milo Tin car structure = Proton using strenghtened/Galvanized Steel structure for Savvy & Saga BLM, new Safety body structure employed Hot Press Forming technology (HPF) marketed as Reinforced Safety Structure or 'RESS' in 2012 and applied to Preve, Iriz, Persona & Suprima S model
Old Japanese engine Technology : Recent rebadged model like Inspira itself use Mitsubishi MIVEC engine 1.8L '4B10' & 2.0L '4B11' and Ertiga use 1.4L 'K14B'. The new Proton Perdana uses Honda K20 & K24 I-VTEC engine which proves that all your allegations as per above postings are baseless and you use old information prior the Proton time year 2000s.
Campro engines utilised by Proton since 2004 starting with Gen2 and furtherly improved and enhanced with IAFM & Cam Profile Switching unit, later improved again with turbocharged & equipped with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) for better response & fuel efficiency.
Proton do has newest project to employ new tech engine under codename Volcano & Magma collaborate with Ricardo Engineering of UK. But it halted to give way to use Geely Powertrain namely G-Power which developed together with CEVT centered in Europe
Power Windows problem & abysimal performance of CVT : Lifetime Warranty provided and less Issues were arised since 2012, Proton also constantly improved CVT and re-calibrated the CVT behavior on new model Facelift, Minor Change & Running Change unit.
Lack of funds, couples with Management with little or late to accelerate the growth of Proton has contribute a holes in the Vessel Hull...waiting for sinking
Well about the Mahathirism, you know who started to advice Proton to study for collaboration with other manufacturer for strategic partnership? Its from Mahathir itself!

    • @konsen6149
      @konsen6149 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@wdtv3568 I do not totally agreed with your write up too.
What do we need a national car when the Proton is so dangerous to drive previously.
Everyone owns either in one way a SAGA or a Wira. Mind you the hollow plastic bumper( for decoration only ) secured by clips easily fall off even the slightest knock and the front indicator light easily came out while driving . Automatic gear box spoilt easily , water seeping into car boots , roof making noise due to usage of epoxy bonding rather than welding and the list goes on till most owners are fed up and stop buying proton but better quality Perodua .
Yeah even Taxi drivers complain about the CAMPRO engine overheat and taxi got to rest at the nearest bus stop or taxi stand.
Talking about proton using hot dipped high strength steel or whatever , PROTON still come out as Milo Tin during minor accident. Proton car got weak chassis or virtually no chassis . Please go and see how Toyota and Hyundai built their vehicles which is many TIMES much safer than any proton on the move .Off course Boron steel like those use in Volvo and Mercedes are way the strongest in the industry and way safer compare to whatever steel proton is using.and base upon. Furthermore, Proton is not a safety conscious company there is limitation and experience in the safety Cage design
Even Japanese still cannot achieved the level of safety of that of Volvo and Mercedes so what is Proton by the way , rubbish at that time during mahathirism era .
Yeah , Mahathir started proton to kick start Malaysia towards heavy industrialisation but Malaysia too failed .eg Perwaja, MEC. Worst still dawn raid of Guthrie in London stock exchange and Tin in UK metal exchange , mahathirism put Malaysia dollars suddenly change to weak Malaysian Ringgit .
Proton proposal came to Mahathir from his Taiwanese friend .
What mahathirism achievement for proton put every Malaysian having to pay three times the original price of a Japanese and continental cars forcing everyone to buy a proton with limited budget. Mahathir raised the car excise duty, import duty, sales tax by three folds. Car selling at RM,25K becomes RM 75k. Buying a new foreign car those days is like buying a house at half price after all Proton is not a fully Malaysian car with most parts imported from Japan, Taiwan ,India .even CKD car local content about 25% is almost on par with Proton.
Government servant apply loan to buy Toyota , Honda or ford , Peugeot were not approved. Only those buying proton were quickly given loan approvals.
Then Pityful many good drivers were killed unnecessarily while driving a Milo Tin Proton while balik kampung.
Government blame it on the drivers fault most of the time but not on the Proton poor design, built quality and safety standard of proton cars .
Lotus handling in a Proton I do not feel at all any fun couple with scary nightmare of the car safety ,"satu Kali langgar satu Kali terus mati" stigma.
Mind you the whole episode of making proton car is totally rubbish, poor quality , using epoxy for roof sheet bonding to roof structure causing irritating sound emitting after few years of ownership .
Proton car skid easily due to uneven Weight distribution , 65/35 or whatsoever.
Campro engine in those taxi using Saga model easily overheat and got to stop at times to cool down.
Sadly when Proton lost market share from 70% to just 26% , sometime need to be done . Geely came to the rescue ( by ellipsing two other bidders ) to put a stop to Proton heavy losses keep alive by government bail out years after years thru suffering Malaysian income tax payers and other direct and indirect taxes. Meaning to say this is a horrible mahathirism achievements to enrich his cronies thru Proton.
What are the past models of proton ? Is there Any good coming from Juara, tiara, Savvy, Perdana, waja, Iriz, preve and Gen2 . Even Satria GTI Neo with small light body make it more unsafe and float at high speed with Milo tin cage structure. Just how wonderful to know about Satria GTI Neo .
Under Geely, Geely means business Proton had completely revamped itself with proper safety cage design ( not Milo tin design and structure ) and proton sales pick up with market share constantly increasing.
Ending Mahathirism era in Proton is ending his proton cronies is actually a good sign otherwise Proton will be totally bankruptcy and declining market share while other brands keep improving in local market share .
Every Malaysian knows mahathirism is bad for Malaysia with monopoly protection that did not benefit every one or us at all.
Now Proton is fast building safer and better continuous improve quality and desire products for Malaysian and export market like Pakistan and Turkey.

That's the sound of the thickness of one's wallet. Rolls Royce is a lot quieter :p and no cars within X50's price point is as quiet.

Side mirror is one of the regulations that all vehicle in Malaysia need to comply. I don't think it is wrong design; if not meeting regulations, they cannot sell the car.

your right bobby... poorly designed road can be dangerous...
like example zebra line for school pupils to cross ..
they stupidly raise it two bricks of height than the road itself..
    then just 2 DAYS....
cars start crashed frequently at day light, at night I seen pickup trucks like jumping when hitting that crossing.... that CONTRAPTION makes road even more DANGEROUS...
    Why they do that?
because one smk pupil riding motorcycle get hit by a speeding car about 200 meters away from school... the U Turn is far away from the school....
With the 'geniuses' of our road planners they decided to make a elevated school crossing so the students can walk on it & make poles in the middle of crossing, barely wide enough just fit the with of a person....
It just pointless for motorcyclists to cross that BULGE.... and then another student get hit again by car...
IT DOESN'T SOLVE THE EXISTING PROBLEM...IT JUST MAKES MORE PROBLEMS AFTERWARDS....
Yes some road planners in MALAYSIA cannot SOLVE the specific problem..
